I can’t believe The Joe’s didn’t pick up on the post game press conference of Winston last week. Every game….teams know they can capitalize on Winston. These are crap teams we’ve been beating despite the turnovers. Don’t kid yourselves, we WILL lose to quality teams with a turnover difference of -2. You will not win a division with Winston….you’ll be lucky to fight for a wild card spot.

Again, LB dropping into zone coverage and he never sees him. Either coach him up on these coverages, or if he just doesn’t get it, don’t run those plays!!! Get him out of the pocket because he cant process fast enough.

Jameis didn’t have time to telegraph anything. He was looking at the blitzers, which is where the ball went.
The zone blitz had the left end fall into the blitz. Jameis should have taken the sack, but telegraphing the throw tends to mean you have more than 4 tenths of a second to release the ball.

aj…are you watching the game on TV? Even the announcers said the LB read Jameis’s eyes. The pressure was from the outside… there wasn’t much pressure up the middle…the LB dropped back in coverage. Didn’t you see the replay?

Winston is near stud QB, not quite there because he can’t make all those weird angle throws that stud QBs like Mahomes can make.

I will say that I think Jameis is growing…if he can get those foolish Int’s. under control, read off defenders better, and get rid of the ball faster when under pressure, we would have a franchise QB I do think Franchising looks very likely if he can get the Int’s more under control.

I hate to break it to you but Winston will 100% be back next year.
The only question is whether we franchise him vs offering a multi-year deal.
(Personally I think they’d be smarter to offer a 2 or 3 year deal with less of a cap hit and no guarantees on the 3rd year… vs the ridiculous cost of the franchise tag for a QB. We have a lot of other guys that need to get resigned.)

2 to 3 year deal is stupid. If you commit to him for 2 years you should sign him to six. You can cut him in 2 if he isn’t worth the money. 25 – 28 million a year now. 2 years from now we will be in a new CBA. There is suppose to a big jump in the cap. 2 years a QB will be averaging 40 million a year. Winston will look like a bargain at that price

it is a new system and new coaching staff. I think the evidence is overwhelming that those things have contributed heavily to Winston’s turnovers spiking this year (since he was trending downwards in terms of turnovers over previous seasons)
Yeah, Detroit’s hurting, but Bucs have key injuries as well.
Have to be happy for the improvement, no Jameis is not there yet, lots of improvement needed, but he’s a serious competitor/workaholic and that’s what makes him different from every other #1 QB busts.

Remember the reason there’s a new coaching staff is because Winston failed and Koetter gave up on him. Arians was brought in to do the same things he did with Carson Palmer, etc.
Jameis is not a bust (and he’s better pro than Mariota) but he has underachieved relative to his No.1 overall draft position.
There is no Bucs fan who would have said they expected 100+ turnovers in 5 years.

Took Carson Palmer 8 weeks to get comfortable with Arians’ offense. Looks like Jameis took a little longer, but he is doing well now, minus the turnovers.

I think it took our entire offense a while to learn Arian’s offense, not just Evans.
Howard said he was just finally getting the hang of it a couple weeks ago. Arians called out multiple guys who ran the wrong routes on turnovers early in the season, etc.

One last thing is that it defientally looks like Winston is improving. The INT was ugly but it was a bad read. His not reading the LBs well & it keeps costing him. That is correctable.
His decision making has been his heel & it is much improved. The one play where he took a sack was key. He didn’t make a bad decision there. I can quibble and say he should not of took the sack but reguardless he didn’t make a awful decision like we have seen before….The next play…..TD

Maybe the biggest positive I have seen this year is that the Bucs have consistently played well on the road. I remember in the late Gruden/post-Gruden years west coast trips or back-to-back road games often meant beatdowns.
Instead we beat down LA Rams in LA and only narrowly lost at Seattle and Tennessee — all three winning teams.
That speaks to coaching and preparedness.
And let’s not forget the NFL screwed the Bucs with a horrible road schedule this year.
