Cappa Out; Logan Breaks Thumb And Bucs Have A New Punt Returner

December 6th, 2019

Alex Cappa is out

Informative day at One Buc Palace.

The bad news: starting right guard Alex Cappa won’t be able to overcome his elbow injury and he’s been ruled out of Sunday’s game. And kick/punt returner T.J. Logan broke his thumb in practice and is out, as well. Receiver Scotty Miller (hamstring) will miss another game.

Justin Watson will take over as punt returner, and Dare Ogunbowale will hand kick return duties.

Scott Smith, official Buccaneers team reporter, Twittered all this out.

at least we have an excuse for the loss. lol

  2. famousjameis Says:

    that’s not good….

  3. Tampabuscsbro Says:

God Cappa being out again is going to hurt GET THE BALL OUT QUICK. START SCHEMING TO GET THAT BALL OUT FAST.

  4. JimmyJack Says:

    Dean update?

  5. Mitch Says:

Hope Watford can step up and its not an ideal circumstance but I am glad to see that Watson will get a chance to do something with the football.

Overall I believe we’ll be ok and win this football game. It’s not too big for this team. The best match up to watch this weekend will be Vea vs Nelson. Can’t wait to see that battle in the trenches. Go Bucs!!

  6. SammyRebel Says:

Justin Watson returner ? Gtfo omg worse than bobo Wilson

  7. Ndog Says:

Whenever Cappa had been it we have struggled mightly. So there is no reason to think it won’t happen again. The odds of us winning this game just decreased quite a bit, unfortunately.

  8. Marine Buc Says:

This is why we need to draft a few offensive linemen in the spring. A Tackle and a guard at least in the first 3 rounds.

  9. JimmyJack Says:

I blame Ira……..This guy freaking jinxes everything he touches. We freaking get Cappa playing through broken bones and as soon as Irv talks about how durable our guys are……BOOM…..we start dropping like flys. Its out of control with this guy. Joe please buy this guy a plate of Onion Rings and maybe a slice of pizza and pie next podcast. The less talking he does the better. For everybody.

    Sheesh…GO BUCS!!!

  10. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

We have got to fortify the o line in the off-season. We have no depth once one guy goes down. Hopefully it doesn’t cost an injury to Jameis. He has been beat up all season.

  11. Bradinator Says:

@JimmyJack Dean has been a Full Participant in practice for the last 2 days. Very likely to play in that case.

  12. Bucaroni&Cheese Says:

Woof, Justin Watson as a returner….that smells like trouble waiting to happen. Hope he just secures the catches.

  13. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Justin Watson, hmm…why does that name sound familiar?

    Is he a Buc?

JimmyJack- haha blame Irv! Lock the man in a room with a calzone and a beet salad and he’ll be good for a while!

  14. TampaTown Says:

    @Jimmyjack:
Ira said when he said no injuries especially the OL he thought he might jinx it. Now look! Everyone on the injury report! Good Lawd!!! I screamed in my car when he said it. I hope this is all the proof he needs that he is in fact a jinx, keep your mouth shut and keep picking the Bucs to lose.

  15. Bucsfanman Says:

Too bad about Cappa. I was wondering why the Earl of Watford was in the game last Sunday.

  16. BucsBandit Says:

“BAD JAMEIS” who is very due for an appearance now has built-in excuses. LOL.

  17. LordCornelius Says:

We not only need to go OL early we need to also add depth.

We need a RT and a 3rd swing OT that can play and not suck. Right now we have one young OT, an over the hill guy who is about done, and “?????” after that.

After Marpet/Jensen(who is overpaid at this point)/Cappa – we have Earl of Watford who is not quality depth.

We need to be able to sustain 2-3 injuries to the O-line and get by. The last few years it seems we’re 1-2 injuries away from seeing a Godser Cherlius type guy letting guys run absolutely free to the QB.

Per Football Outsiders our offensive line ranks like 25th in run game / 20th in pass pro.

Kind of insane to think of that, and how our run game sucks, and how we turn the ball over a lot, but we somehow are scoring almost 29 points per game. Jesus we just need to clean some sh1t up.

  18. Robert Says:

    there’s a good jameis?

  19. BigHog Says:

    Robert…If you ain’t seen him …you ain’t looking!!

  20. Jean Lafitte Says:

It’s a shame that one lineman goes down and no-one has the confidence that Jameis can overcome. Elite Franchise QB’s find a way to overcome. So sad that even his jock sniffers have no faith.

  21. unbelievable Says:

No one has confidence b/c our barely average o-line looks like one of the worst in the league each time a starter goes down.

We have ZERO depth on the o-line.

Run game will be non-existent, while Jameis will be running for his life with pressure in his face on 90% of snaps. Hooray!

Will BA/BL make an adjustment to call more screens and quick passes like slants? Don’t hold your breath…

  22. Ndog Says:

Yeah Robert the one that is set to lead the NFL in passing yards this year and be at least the top 5 in TD passes. And oh yeah is also on pace to have the second most passing yards IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL during his first 5 years in the league.

    Yeah that pretty good.

  23. Ndog Says:

So Jean you are saying QBs can play with no line and still succeed? Please oh great one provide some examples?

  24. Ndog Says:

Guys my bad why do we even acknowledge the likes of “Jean”? It’s clear they have no CLUE so what’s the point of arguing, they are hopeless.

  25. BigHog Says:

FAMOUS will lead the way to victory on Sunday! Confident enough!!?

  26. jjbucfan Says:

Serious question to the true Buc fans…How funny is it we are all crying over Alex Freaking Cappa being out? Would anyone have thought this last year? Shows you just how bad Dirk and his talent evaluations were. Also gotta give props to Licht on Cappa, he is developing nicely. Licht has made some pretty good sneaky picks. He has also blown the obvious picks and other than Cappa (who by all means was a stretch and a project), has completely ignored the O-Line since Smith and Marpet. Can’t do it anymore- gotta get a LT and move DS to RT or trade him.

  27. jjbucfan Says:

LC- what happened to the dude from the Steelers we gave a 6th for?

  28. ClodHopper Says:

    “The bad news:”

Usually when people say that “The Good News:” follows shortly. I feel like we were teased 😂

“You want the good news or the bad news first?”

    “The bad news first please”

    “There is no good news!!”

  29. Kobe Faker Says:

“Here we go again with Lord Cornelius brain washing propaganda

Yes we must draft Olineman but stop spewing the premature false hope to the masses

The odds of immediate productivity of even the top college Olineman is blasphemy. All college Lineman is lost and confused coming into the NFL

The real cure and answer which not only Kobe Faker but all other NFL 31 and 31 HCs and OCs have come to realize because of lack of Oline protection

Is the short passing scheme and getting the ball out quickly TO KEEP THE DEFENSE OFFBALANCE

2020 we must give JW an effective short passing scheme/package to counter the blitz pressure which is the kryptonite of BA long developing vertical offense and JW3 weakness to turnovers”

    Kobe “short package” Faker

  30. MadMax Says:

Anyone watching Zack Moss tonight (utah vs oregon)?

Sure would be a nice addition if we decide to go RB again, especially 2nd rd.

  31. unbelievable Says:

Maybe the good news is that Jamel Dean will be starting?

  32. Jean Lafitte Says:

Oh my GOD! Cappa isn’t playing. Jameis is going to SUCK!. That’s how much the jock sniffers coddle him. They pretend that they believe in him only to not when the chips might be down. Yep, they prove just how much faith they really have. I will argue that great QB’s find a way to rise above the setbacks. But even his fans question their own trust in him when things aren’t exactly perfect.

  33. Pickgrin Says:

    Not good news.

Cappa is this year’s most improved player (aside from Barrett of course who wasn’t here last year).

Bucs had a gaping hole at RG ever since 2015 – Marpet’s rookie season – and Cappa has now filled that “hole” with authority in his 2nd year. Look forward to seeing this young long hair get better and better which I believe he will.

  34. DBS Says:

Last I was told the Colts are Garbage. So now this changes eveything and we are worse Garbage then they are even with “Americas Quarterback”? This should be business as usual. Battle of 2 bad teams to seewho wins.

  35. Bobby M Says:

That right side will be inconsistent to say the least. Guessing we wont run much that way which makes us that much more predictable. This will be the classic dare Winston to throw game.

If good Jameis shows up and by good I mean only one turnover and not throwing high balls right out of the gate, we have a chance.

If bad Jameis shows up, we all know that script.

  36. TOM Says:

    OMG The sky is falling.

  37. PragueBucsFan Says:

The curse of the calzone lingers on.
