Playoffs?
December 5th, 2019It’s a one-game season.
That’s what Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians said yesterday about the predicament the Bucs have found themselves in.
Tampa Bay is mathematically in the hunt for a wild card. But there is no room for errors. Arians said he addressed the Bucs and reminded them dreams can come true.
Arians noted when he was with the Steelers they had to close the season with four straight wins or watch the playoffs at home. They won all four and ended up beating Seattle in the Super Bowl.
Now Arians didn’t suggest any Super Bowl run for the Bucs but he wanted to remind his team a four-game winning streak (it would actually be a six-game winning streak since the Bucs have won their last two games) to close a season can happen.
“We talked about it [Wednesday] morning,” Arians said. “If you want to feel what the playoffs are like? You are in it. Right now. They are one-game seasons. You lose, you are done. Then you play for fun.”
So now the Bucs face an Indianapolis team in its own playoff pinch. And the Bucs host the Colts and we all know how lousy the Bucs play at home.
If the Bucs can beat the Colts, things might start getting interesting.

10-6 wouldn’t get us in but good to see the fight and with playing 2 more teams that have packed it in already, theres a good chance to go 4-0. Dungy’s1st year had a bad start and a strong finish and set up a playoff run in 97 so hopefully history repeats!

So what realistically needs to happen? Bucs win out and Viking lose out, Rams drop 3 out of their last 4, and Da Bears drop 2 of their last four (at the minimum)?
Talk about the stars aligning. No matter what I want the Bucs to win out even if the Vikings clinch in a week or two. I’m tired of feeling miserable surrounded by other team’s fans at Raymond James.

This organization the past 10 years have been in this spot and been here with jameis and then they are a complete clown show…like in dallas

The Colts are a much better team than either the Jaguars or the Falcons, but we can win this game, because we are peaking right now.
Plus, we are at home.
I see a win for us this Sunday

Colts O-line should be a better test for this revamped pass rush.

lol not only can the vikings have to lose 3 of 4 but they also cant beat the lions this weekend. even if the vikings lose out and the bucs win out they finish both 9-7. vikings would get in due to conference record. so the bucs basically have maybe .00003% chance at the playoffs

Greatest playoffs speech eva!!!!!!!! ^^^^^^^^^^

My ideal draft scenario: waking up to check the news because the Bucs picked so late in the evening I couldn’t stay awake that late. Guaranteed value player who fell.
Ask a casual New England fan who they drafted. They hardly ever know and barely care. They’re already good. I want that feeling!
December 5th, 2019 at 12:43 pm
Whether or not they make it or not.. all we can wish for as fans are meaningful games in December. After a horrid start they bounced back and look like a different team on the defensive side of the ball. Lets win out!

Dirk needed to talk that way in his first season before letting Geraldine give his let’s have fun speech in dallas before getting blown out.

Let´s get game by game…….Two weeks before we were the joke of the league, and suddenly we are extraordinary……Let´s go game by game……..then will see

9-7 would be reat at this point. I’ll take 8-8. That would mean we are putting it together.

‘great’

Sure, it is virtually impossible for us to get to the playoffs……but we should be doing our part even if we can’t control what other teams do.
Better than playing for the draft…..It goes to show you that losing even one close early game in the season can have a huge impact.

Wildcards are coming out of the West and North… no way around that. But going into the offseason on a high note would be a nice change of pace for this team.

Get ready next season without certain key players if they resign Jameis. We’re up against the cap with no money and 25 -30 mil would be sucked up by an average QB. So that means possibly no JPP, or no Barrett, no Nassib, no Brate, Godwin will want a raise. Unless we’re fortunate to get a weak strength of schedule, on paper, this team is due to struggle again next season without certain important players from this season. Regardless if we don’t agree on many issues, there’s no denying that the lack of available funds will play a key role.

If we lose we have to play qb ryan ….. to see what he is made of ….we know what we have in jaymiss winsnot …. need to know the full qb picture …
December 5th, 2019 at 2:09 pm
jaymiss winsnot is not a 25-30 million qb……… period.
December 5th, 2019 at 2:16 pm
We have the 3rd most cap space next year.

Jean Lafitte is right. Playoffs is a pipedream. Bucs would be much better off not signing JW and keeping the defense intact and drafting/signing Oline, Dline depth and RB. Draft a good smart QB like Fromm. What do you have to lose? JW has been playing like a bad rookie for 5 yrs now. His stats are padded cuz he always has to throw and abandon the gameplan due to all his early game turnovers.
December 5th, 2019 at 2:41 pm
BAD JAMEIS IS DUE TO MAKE AN APPEARANCE.
December 5th, 2019 at 2:49 pm
we only need the vikings to lose out to get in…lol…
GO BUCS!!!!
December 5th, 2019 at 3:51 pm
Dumb article for the dumb masses. We have .0000001% chance of making the playoffs. The Vikings would need to lose all of their games and we would need to win our final four. That ain’t happening. We would also have to have a few other teams stumble along the way. Yearly ritual, plan for the draft in October.
December 5th, 2019 at 4:06 pm
How is it that the 5 currently top ranked QBs have a combined total of 20 interceptions between them AND all of their teams are in the playoff race?
I mean I know picks aren’t a big deal to the Nuthugger Brigade, but I find this FACT very interesting.
Please school my clueless ass.
December 5th, 2019 at 4:42 pm
….. oh, and 4 of those 5 teams have a defense currently ranked below the Bucs.
December 5th, 2019 at 4:59 pm
Doosh, we’ve been trying to make you understand that turn-overs don’t count and neither do wins. Passing yards, THAT’S what counts, so stop with the meaningless stats already, OK?

“Get ready next season without certain key players if they resign Jameis. We’re up against the cap with no money and 25 -30 mil would be sucked up by an average QB”
Jameis’ cap number is already $23.2m for this season. He’s not going to decimate the cap if he gets $25-30m, but yes every dollar they give him is a dollar that doesn’t go elsewhere.

Last year Bucs were 5-7 with a chance at playoffs and lost last 4 games.
Now you will see if coaches make a difference…
December 5th, 2019 at 7:11 pm
Dream on.
December 6th, 2019 at 7:56 am
Bears won….which means even if we win, no ground was gained. Now we are looking to the remaining three weeks in which some many teams have to collapse and we have to go undefeated. Its over folks…..one more loss and this team, particularly on offense, may start to pack it in from a focus and intensity standpoint.
