Derrick Brooks: All-Time LB
November 29th, 2019What an honor this is.
As if former Bucs great Derrick Brooks hadn’t already reached the pinnacle of a football life by being enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, it may have gotten better for Brooks.
The NFL Network is producing an all-time team to commemorate the first 100 seasons of the NFL. Each week, a different position or two is announced with the top players in the history of the game selected.
The network panel chose 12 linebackers and Brooks was named tonight among the all-time NFL linebackers.
You can see snippets from the episode below. Yes, even Bill Belichick is among the panel of selectors.
(This is different than the 25-man panel JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman is part of that is commissioned by the Hall of Fame.)
From one sideline to the other, @DBrooks55 dominated every time he took the field.

Who’s your favorite player? Mr. Derrick Brooks!
Soooo cool and well deserved!

I was gonna be furious if they disrespected this man and didnt include him. To my eye, Mr. Brooks, Junior Seau and Ray Lewis are THEE best off-ball Linebackers to ever play the game.
It’s really funny that a certain infamous poster on this site will tell you he was a glorified back-up and be dead serious.

Greatness on and off the field

Jack Ham and Brooks are the only HOF to take every career snap in their home state. High school, college, pro. Ham was Penn St/Steelers for the younger folks.

Joe, I am watching The NFL Network as we speak, and when Derrick Brooks Name was announced to the NFL 100 All Time Team, I said “O Hell Yeh 🤡❗️“ So many great memories of seeing Derrick being the leader of the FSU and Buccaneers Legendary Defensive Units In The 1990’s And 2000’s. But Remember folks, The Greatest Tampa Bay Buccaneer Football Player Of All-Time is The Late Great Lee Roy Selmon (1976-1994.) Just In: Buccaneers All-Time Great DE and Pro Football Hall Of Famer Lee Roy Selmon was just announced by The NFL Network to the NFL 100 All Time Team. 2 Tampa Bay Buccaneers amoung the 100 greatest players in the 100 year history of The National Football League. What a Night. I know the great Ira Kaufman and Joe Bucs Fan.com is so proud tonight. GO BUCS ❗️

A list like this wouldn’t be legitimate without Brooks on it.

Well deserved honor for a man who redefined the WIL position… just think some wanted to draft him as a safety… bc he was too small… lol..

Sap will be there too even though he acts like a douchebag

Overrated loser.
Sorry, channelling our resident moron before he chimes in.
Congratulations Mr. Brooks and thanks for all the great memories.

Favorite all time Buc, shoot, player.

Great pick. And well-deserved. Lee Roy Selmon (RIP)…Brilliant pick.
November 30th, 2019 at 9:03 am
But we were told that Brooks was just average and rode Sapps coattails.
I guess a good portion of the world doesn’t agree with you TMAX

I’ll never forget the game Brooks lit Michael Vick up when he broke the pocket.
Broke was like a missile on that play:

Good call SC. I said the same thing but putting that morons name in a post somehow gets your comment sent to moderation.

I think Sapp should have been on there as well. Brooks was a great player and I think he would have been great without Sapp, but I think Brooks’ play was elevated by Sapp’s dominance.
