Bruce Arians: “Just Don’t Drop Interceptions”
November 24th, 2019Ecstatic with the performance of his defense and young defensive backs after today’s game, Bucco Bruce Arians still showed his football-coach colors.
Joe heard anguish in Arians’ voice when he talked about how his defense dropped five catchable balls. That’s the stuff the drives coaches nuts.
Of course, most were by the defensive backs. “Just don’t drop interceptions,” Arians pleaded on the Buccaneers Radio Network. The head coach added that all the extra film work by the young secondary is paying off.
(Joe’s unsure if Arians included Ndamukong Suh’s dropped pick in his take).
Ex-Bucs tight end Dave Moore echoed that sentiment on the official postgame show about how the defense dropping all those gifts from Matt Ryan was a good sign after Bucs defensive backs were giving up completions too easily in previous games.
Progress!
That’s the simple translation.
It’s encouraging. Now the secondary has to stack up that kind of play and prove this game wasn’t a one-hit wonder.

Todd Bowles defense when working as designed will produce turnovers!
Preseason showed us that and it came together today!!! Now is time for this D to maintain a high level!!!

By far the best defensive performance this year. Keep it going. Would not be surprised if Quinn gets fired and Morris takes over.

What perfect timing for the defense to decide to play well.
Week 12. That’ll give us plenty of time to make the playoffs.

Looked to me like we were doing a lot less blitzing today, and it paid off.
I think more guys in coverage equals better play from our defense. Let them rush 4, and once in a while 5. Time your blitzes strategically instead of just sending them non-stop.

The defense decided to play like a normal NFL defense for the 1st time in 3 years and it’s a love fest on JBF.

If this secondary can keep going my confidence will shoot sky high!!!
I love watching games knowing…….knowing they cannot and will not run on us.
We are much tougher and more physical then yiven credit for.

Unbelievable……….yes it did look that way with a obvisous exception being when we blitzed with Devin White he made a huge impact!!!

Yes….I saw a miss by Davis, Suh, Dean, LVD…..and then that one overturned on Edwards…..we had an opportunity for many picks.

@Joe – How many runs did we have today? Asking per Ira’s stats about winning when we run 20+ times….I don’t know, so asking.
Of course, we had a lot of runs in Q4 due to trying to bleed the clock, so maybe that plays into the # of run plays too. No matter, interesting data point, if it holds true for today. Go BUCS!

I know the hypotheticals should not be looked at…Would love to have the Giants and Seahawks games back.
Hell just the Giants game and there would be a hell of a lot more excitement!
Win out!
GO BUCS!

@JimmyJack- for sure! He had 2 nice ones.
I think overall it was far more successful today by being more selective about when we blitzed.

enjoying eating my crow pie today….both Devin White and Vita are turning out to be great 1st Rd picks. Love the energy – great leaders! Go Bucs!

Let the ‘kids’ eat’!

One step forward an so glad Devin white is playing like I thought he would at #5 just took him a little time. If dean Davis Whitehead an Edwards keep improving like they did today we might have an above average defense MIGHT is the key word

Don’t coach the safties, let them set them free to run all over. They played supurb.
