Shrink Available For All
November 20th, 2019If any Bucs player needs mental health counseling, the Bucs have a shrink on call.
That was the word today from Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians. Recently, Arians noted he didn’t believe in sports psychology but was beginning to change his mind because he is puzzled how his Bucs team can look so good in practice leading to a game, then shat itself come game time.
Arians was asked specifically if this is what O.J. Howard needs.
Howard, a supremely talented tight end, has not been used in the passing game much this year, and when he has been, too often he has volleyballed the football to defenders.
Last Sunday was a perfect example. He caught a pass deep in Bucs territory and then tried to Be Like Mike and do an ankle-breaking, behind-the-back pass that wound up getting flipped into the air and picked off.
(F’ing Jameis, right?)
Arians said whether Howard wants to visit a shrink is not up to the Bucs coach. It would be up to Howard himself.
“That is not up to me, that is up to him,” Arians said. It is available for all our guys. They know it is available. So if they want to use it, they can use it.”
Asked to sum up Howard’s season through 10 games, Arians said, “He has had opportunities. We try to fit him into the gameplan every week. He has had the misfortune of juggling a few balls this season. There are still six games for him to get out of that funk.”
Asked if he has ever had a talented player struggle in a new offense this late into a season with a new coach or for the whole season, Arians did not deny this could be the issue.
“It happens all the time,” Arians said.
Joe just hopes the Bucs don’t throw in the towel on Howard. It would really stink to see him go elsewhere and succeed.
Then again, #ItsABucsLife.

The old John McKay gag applies now more than ever:
When asked about his teams execution, McKay replied that he was in favor of it.
How old things are new again.
Burn this freaking mess to the ground and begin again.
Peace, out
November 20th, 2019 at 2:12 pm
This should be a service provided to any fans that paid to go to a Bucs game each year
November 20th, 2019 at 2:16 pm
He is probable praying they release him so he can go to a winning locker room. Sound familiar?
November 20th, 2019 at 2:18 pm
Trying to “fit in” one of your three most dangerous offensive players into the game plan?
This Arians nightmare cant end soon enough. He’s just another old man that has no interest in adjusting his scheme to fit the personnel that is on the team. How can you not find a consistent way to get this guy involved on game day? Terrible.
November 20th, 2019 at 2:23 pm
Why would you feel the need to throw the Jameis comment in? Isn’t that sort of thing our duty in the comments section? Stealing our funder.
November 20th, 2019 at 2:27 pm
@ Joe……(F’ing Jameis, right?)
What the hell do you mean????
I love your Football IQ, I really do….I am more time agreeing with you than disagreeing ….But this JW blind and deaf situation, is getting ridiculous!!!!!
I mean 5 years men!!!!! 5 freacking years and you keep on trying to defend the indefensible…..YOu just can´t deny his incosistency for again 5 YEARS!!!!!
November 20th, 2019 at 2:27 pm
Not sure why this is viewed as a big deal. I get the last sentence and agree…I too hope they don’t throw in the towel…this season. Let OJ redeem himself and get his value back to a first round pick…we MAY wish to cash in that pick.
But clearly…Sports Psychologists are incredibly valuable. Making fun of “choking” or “needing” such help is really pretty Neanderthal.
But don’t take MY opinion since my cred is nowhere near that of the GOAT QB of the NFL. Brady would be totally laughing at anybody who makes fun of Sports Psychology.
https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/tom-brady-and-the-secret-to-success-sports-psychology-mental-toughness/uh092hloswqu1gtjoxcucny5l
“He first sought out mental coaching services while attending the University of Michigan. “To me, football is so much about mental toughness,” he said. Now in his 13th season as a starter, Brady is still at the top of his game because of his mindset”
Tossing in (F’ing Jameis, right?) is beyond lame!!!
It’s called a non sequitur. In addition the implication is just WRONG!!! NOBODY I’ve read…even the haters…has blamed that int on JW! If we’re going to subtract that from JW’s total…fine…but then in fairness you have to add back in the balls that SHOULD have been picked but bad hands on a DB saved the day for JW.

When the Belicheats are salivating to trade for someone that usually means they are good.
November 20th, 2019 at 2:43 pm
Also because of the Sopranos references this is Joe number two the one who tends to be the hard line Jameis defender of the two.
November 20th, 2019 at 2:44 pm
Hey Joe will he get in trouble for saying this out loud?
Clyde Christensen on reducing Jameis Winston miscues: “We try everything”
November 20th, 2019 at 2:45 pm
That picture makes me want to go rewatch all 6 seasons of the Sopranos. God damn I miss that show.
November 20th, 2019 at 2:47 pm
i love how you always find THE ONE pick that wasn’t Winston fault and then try to act like that is how it always is!!! …. no Winston team has not helped him be a better player … but he is not a good player to begin with that is the problem… instead of him making his team look better, the team makes him look FAR better than he really is!! put him on the giants or even patriots with the no name receivers they have and you will see how bad Winston really is ….. look at how they ALWAYS have to jump 10 feet in the air to make a catch …. actually watch a game without the rose colored glasses one time and ask yourself with how hard safeties and linebackers hit would you want to jump in the air and stretch out enough to expose your ribs EVERY SINGLE DAM CATCH???
November 20th, 2019 at 3:25 pm
He’s dead.
November 20th, 2019 at 3:36 pm
Being a buc you will need more than a shrinks help, Oh Ya..
November 20th, 2019 at 3:53 pm
It’s just like golf. Hit the chipping green and you’re deadly. Can’t wait to sink one from the rough.
Get on the course and you go full blade on the ball over the green into the bunker. When nothing is on the line in practice everything works.
Game time changes everything. Let me know if Bruce has any other questions.
November 20th, 2019 at 4:38 pm
It’s simple really. They look good in practice because he is sitting watching them in a golf cart instead of being right up on them. “Oh yeah, coach, we got it.” Very little interaction. Mail it in at practice, don’t expect to show up at the game. This guy is throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks. And nothing does, nothing will.

“F’ing Jameis, right?”
Smart Joe and Dumb Joe (who wrote this article) should ID themselves. Way back when, the stupid fell prey to enemies and their own stupidity. Now, JoeBucsFan.com just lets them write crap like this.
And uh, Winston needs a shrink more than anyone. Because God knows five years of experience and numerous coaching attempts won’t get through. Time to cut him…and dumb Joe.
November 20th, 2019 at 4:52 pm
Clearly the Bucs have already thrown in the towel on Howard….the same morons that can’t get it through their skulls that Winston is the biggest bust of all time. F ing Jameis.
November 20th, 2019 at 5:12 pm
Should have never fired Schiano. Toes on the line is what this team as always needed. See chucky.
November 20th, 2019 at 5:25 pm
Just when I though it couldn’t get worse.
November 20th, 2019 at 5:52 pm
Are there dedicated “safe spaces” at OBP ?….
November 20th, 2019 at 5:55 pm
leading the witness type questions lol
November 20th, 2019 at 6:01 pm
So coach isn’t true that you have some mentally slow talent?
November 20th, 2019 at 6:06 pm
Not everyone responds well to that rah rah scream in your face sh*t. I know old timers (like Joe) get a semi-chub for that but it’s not always the most effective/constructive way to communicate and motivate.
November 20th, 2019 at 6:06 pm
Glazers should offer this service to any Buc fan who has suffered mental anguish following this team for the past dozen years as the current team is on par with a Leeman Bennett dash Ray Perkins squad of the 80’s…..
November 20th, 2019 at 6:24 pm
Can Buc fans take advantage of the Shrinks services?
November 20th, 2019 at 6:46 pm
This article is misleading the shrink is for Bucs fans either for the Winston haters or supporters after they announce he is or is not coming back. LOL
November 20th, 2019 at 7:17 pm
” See chucky.”
OK let’s see Chucky. He won a SB with players already in place.
The very next year..with that SB team…Chucky went 7-9
He followed that with a sparkling 5-11!!!! Two years after a SB!
In fact Gruden was a losing coach with the Bucs after that first glorious SB season with players he inherited.
Chucky’s record after that first year? 45-51. For the math challenged that is a .468 or less than .500 break even.
IE…aside from his Super Bowl year Chucky was a LOSING coach for the Bucs. Reports all over the media and interviews indicate that Chucky had lost the players by the end…they no longer trusted him claiming he talked out of both sides of his mouth.
Having said that….I absolutely agree with Chucky’s Bobby Beathard approach…google Beathard he’s an HOF GM and believes in acquiring draft picks including trading down to multiply his picks.
Chucky had the cojones to trade two rising young stars in Mack and Cooper and had a ton of draft picks. How is that working out for him this season? Why he’s 6-4 just one game behind the Chiefs. If I rip him for his final six years here I owe him praise…at least so far in his remake of the Raiders roster.
November 20th, 2019 at 7:21 pm
Since Winston skeptics are called Winston haters
can we call Winston supporters “Winston ball lickers”?
November 20th, 2019 at 7:23 pm
Funny my wife says the same thing about me every February when I pay the Glazers money to watch the same garbage every year. She tells me I need to have my head examined.
November 20th, 2019 at 8:54 pm
Jean
call it whatever you want I am sure the shrink will understand what you are saying…lol
November 20th, 2019 at 8:55 pm
As a longtime fan I keep coming back every year hoping for the best but I just cannot walk away from rooting for my Bucs
November 20th, 2019 at 8:57 pm
Put another 53 on the payroll Bruce. Get em all personal tutors too!!
November 20th, 2019 at 11:36 pm
Dr Melphi. 10/10 would smash
November 21st, 2019 at 12:27 am
I like the selective passive-aggressive Joe that leaves no opportunity to rain dance the once or twice IN A SEASON that Jameis doesn’t soil his own pants.
Yea, I’m sure OJ PURPOSELY juggled the ball and took it around his back trying to be cute.
It happens. OJ is having a subpar year, but mainly because our coaches think a TE is only for the bedroom.
But, for BA to say they are game planning for the TEs each and every game. OMG, gimme a break. BA either is an easy liar or he’s going senile. And Leftwich needs suggestions from the media b4 he tweak his play calls.
Apparently, Leftwich is not besties with Kyle Brady.
November 21st, 2019 at 9:11 am
Watching this team since year one.
I need the shrink. Bad.
November 21st, 2019 at 9:12 am
Juggling the ball.
Kinda like putting your foot on the ball, and striking a Capt. Morgan pose?
November 21st, 2019 at 10:39 am
A shrinks mind would shrink trying to figure out what makes the Bucs lose so often.
November 21st, 2019 at 12:43 pm
Everybody is missing the boat here. Hell, its the Buc owners who need severe intensive shrink services. They need to drag Licht into the mix with them.
