Monday Evening? Still No Answers.
November 19th, 2019Buccaneers center Ryan Jensen was talking last night. And he sounded like a man searching for answers.
Who could blame Jensen? Bucs fans are searching, too.
Bucco Bruce Arians is also on the lookout. After the blowout loss to the Saints on Sunday, Arians lamented that the Bucs practice well and consistently but that doesn’t translate to games. He even quipped it could be a sports psychology kind of matter.
Jensen was asked about that Monday evening on Buccaneers Radio, and Jensen shared his confusion.
“It’s noticeable, obviously. You know, we go through practice and see looks in practice that we see in the game. and we nail it in practice but we don’t nail it in a game,” Jensen said. “That’s something as a team we’re trying to figure out why. You know, there are so many nuances in the game. It’s like why can’t we take what we’re doing in practice, looking these same exact looks and then going and executing like we did in practice in a game. You know, that’s something we’re trying to work on and figure out.”
Yes, the Bucs have grand problems, and the NFL’s biggest coaching staff and intelligent, veteran players like Jensen don’t have answers.
That doesn’t bode well as the Bucs prepare to face a hot division rival in a cauldron of a stadium.

It’s the QB dummy
November 19th, 2019 at 11:11 am
Problem is the Bucs practice against the Bucs.
November 19th, 2019 at 11:15 am
How about just playing ball. Arians is right. It is coming down to just common sense and skill and we can’t figure it out. It’s the players . They are trash
November 19th, 2019 at 11:16 am
Exactly right Jean!!! And they all know it..
November 19th, 2019 at 11:17 am
O line “nails it” in practice because they’re playing against a crappy defense in practice.
November 19th, 2019 at 11:19 am
Well, if we are not playing to win but playing for the draft…..let’s just hope our ineptitude continues…… #betterdraftpick
November 19th, 2019 at 11:22 am
Hey remember when Jason Licht made Ryan Jensen the highest paid Center in professional football less than 2 years ago by handing him over 10 million a year?
Good times.
November 19th, 2019 at 11:24 am
@Tampabaybucfan
If you hire a contractor to build a house and it fall down every year, and he tries to fix it every year, At what point do you stop going back to the same guy???????????
2019 revealed answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans knew and told you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately you forget who will be picking these draft picks. It hasn’t been good the last 5 years to say the least.
November 19th, 2019 at 11:30 am
every defense looks good vs JW….even ours…lol…
JW looks great when he’s not pressured….just like every other QB that faces our defense…
GO BUCS!!!!!
November 19th, 2019 at 11:32 am
not a peep from realist after the W vs ARZ…..lol…
now he’s a motor mouth…..lol…
GO BUCS!!!!!
November 19th, 2019 at 11:38 am
@813-
that is rhealist’s entire schtick. He disappears when we win, and only shows up after losses.
Pretty pathetic for someone who who claims to be a “fan”.
November 19th, 2019 at 11:45 am
unbelievable
i’ll give realist credit….
he was right about licht….
but so was everyone else…lol…a blind man could see licht is trash….
GO BUCS!!!!!
November 19th, 2019 at 11:47 am
Den of depression here we come again to claim our rightful spot as the pathetic cellar dweller bumbling Bucs
November 19th, 2019 at 11:52 am
Slow decision making by the qb and players who arent smart enough. If thats not it they should just throw in the towel and go to 31 teams. Also Jensen if you played against the bucs defense on game day you’d nail em then too
November 19th, 2019 at 11:59 am
Ira had the answer last year, but no one listened: Draft a QB
November 19th, 2019 at 12:03 pm
Joe major credit to you. You sure are dedicated to sift through that interview to find something noteworthy.
I listened to about two minutes and leaped up to turn off that fluff piece. I could care less how long the freaking guys hair is or what his favorite dish is for Thanksgivings or the name of his puppy.
And let me guess. There was no question why this guy can’t be trusted to do the most fundamental thing that n the game. Snap the dam ball!!!!
Dangit man.
GO BUCS!
November 19th, 2019 at 12:21 pm
Mitch Trubisky says the same thing: It worked against the Bucs defense. Why not anyone else?
Real head scratcher here
November 19th, 2019 at 12:48 pm
And Danny Dimes
November 19th, 2019 at 12:51 pm
WE NEED:
1. NEW QB
2.NEW GM
3. NEW COACHS
GLAZERS WAKE THE F#@%&*CK UP!
November 19th, 2019 at 1:11 pm
It’s coaching. Does this look like a well coached team on Sunday? If it doesn’t, then it’s not. We assume that it’s an issue of talent because we got a new coaching staff that’s yielding the same results, but I see ABSOLUTELY no evidence to indicate that this staff is an improvement over the last one.
Yes, BA is a 2-time coach of the year, but I’m far from convinced we got THAT BA. As best as I can tell, he’s a figure head with a DC that can’t figure out how to put his young players in position to succeed, and an OC that is learning on the job and suffering from significant growing pains.
The good teams don’t have those problems.
November 19th, 2019 at 1:16 pm
Patience.
Seriously. Did anyone really truly believe any coach could turn this team around in less than a season after ten years of losing?
People always want change when things don’t go perfectly right away.
I’m all in favor of #ShowMeDon’tTellMe, but that doesn’t mean you give up. Coming into every season people are warned to temper their expectations…better to be pleasantly surprised than unpleasantly disappointed. But people always assume all is going to be perfect, and when it isn’t, those same people are the ones whining all season.
Never buy the hype, but always be loyal to the team.
Personally, there are moments I ask myself why I torture myself watching the games…but I’m a second generation fan of the Bucs, dedicated because my late father was, and giving up on the team is like giving up on him. It was a bond we shared before he died.
So no matter how ugly it gets, I’m here to stay. Whining over things doesn’t change anything but my blood pressure.
November 19th, 2019 at 1:31 pm
@bonzai well said
November 19th, 2019 at 1:45 pm
The Glazer’s should sell the team. They are in way over there heads. I don’t think they have any clue or care whats going on. Licht sold them a bill of goods which even got him an extension. BA also sold them a bill of goods, saying he was not going to be calling the plays that he was going to let an intern BL do it. And again Glazer’s bought into it. What great football minds they are.
November 19th, 2019 at 1:51 pm
Nice post bonzai. Wish most of us shared your perception.
Unfortunately, this fan base thinks it takes less than a year to be a winning team and a loss to a great saints team is a catastrophe.
Next season is the real test. Jameis is getting tagged or a smaller contract.
November 19th, 2019 at 1:56 pm
Buccaneer Bonzai is correct. We need to give Arians a little time to get this dumpster fire team & culture changed. If that involves going a different direction at QB so be it but he does deserve more than 10 games to do it
November 19th, 2019 at 2:36 pm
It’s called PRESSURE….everyone is feeling it and the measurement of success lies mostly in Winston’s development….that’s not happening. With every missed assignment, bad route, drop….the spotlight gets brighter because Winston by himself can implode even if everyone plays perfect. But no player is perfect and the game is filled with constant randomness….that’s the importance of a high level of efficiency from the QB…which is simply not in Winston’s DNA. My impression is everyone is playing to not screw up out of fear they’ll be the reason Winston screwed up. It’s a very bad dynamic for a team and staff. Your highest paid player might possibly be your biggest hurdle yet because of his position and draft selection the blame gets shifted to the others…..and they are feeling it with each loss mounting week after week.
November 19th, 2019 at 2:59 pm
Anyone ever noticed that the bucs practice during the week against the bucs?
If you practice against the best players in the league during the week (Patriots, Saints, Ravens, etc.) you play better on Sunday against the other team. Note its been like the for at least the last 90 games…Jason Light 30-60….
November 19th, 2019 at 3:16 pm
This team is not athetically gifted. There will be nuanced differences at game speed. This team cannot adjust to the differences. It’s like taking a test and the questions cover the same material, but aren’t word for word from the study text.
November 19th, 2019 at 3:47 pm
“Still no answers”
I’m guessing the Ryan Jensen asks himself every single day is why he didn’t sign with the Colts in the 2018 offseason? He could be playing next to Quenton Nelson and that line could elevate his career to be a Pro Bowl center.
November 19th, 2019 at 4:24 pm
Dirty Birds 30, Tampa Bay Yucks 17
JayMiss gets beyond the Century Mark in Turnovers.
BA spews more BS about not blaming JayMiss
Enough is enough.
Peace, out
November 19th, 2019 at 4:45 pm
Bucs have LOTS of good players, just not ENOUGH of them. Weak links get weeded out of the wildebeest herd very quickly by the lions, who subsequently have them for lunch. Pretty much what happens to us game-after-game. The opposition doesn’t attack your strengths, he attacks your weaknesses. Welcome back to the NFL Bruce.
Our OLine is NOT a strength; it’s a weakness (don’t overthink it Jensen). Our Secondary right now is NOT a strength; it’s a weakness. Anyone want to guess which position groups the Falcons will target this coming Sunday?
Oh and Bruce, a hint: Playing Edwards at nickel while sitting Dean & Smith was dumber than dirt. YOU created another liability for the Saints to exploit.
November 19th, 2019 at 5:27 pm
If a team practices well…even down to getting the right looks…good preparation…but then fail on game day there are several possibilities.
Including bad play calling…failure to match the other team’s intensity…last Sunday was soooo ugly the first half.
And there is another possibility…practice well…do things right…but line up against a far better team…a team with far better talent. That’s what last Sunday looked like.
November 19th, 2019 at 5:58 pm
Kinda like golf. Your practice swings are great but your game swings suck.
November 19th, 2019 at 8:16 pm
Instead of having to give the “Public relations” safe answers,
Wouldnt it be great to hear what they REALLY think.
“Practice goes good. Then the game starts, and Jameis forgets which uniform to throw to!” Lol
November 19th, 2019 at 8:33 pm
Another Free agent miss by Licht… way too many…
As Parcels said if the Chef gets to pick the groceries he should too…
Licht’s picks and moves are so bad… I wonder if any coach can cook with this roster… HIGHLY UNLIKELY…. the INGREDIENTS SUCK!
November 19th, 2019 at 9:44 pm
Kind of telling to me
None of them know what the F they are doing
Week 11, we are 3-7 heading on the road to a team that has whooped the Saints and Panthers in the past two weeks
What idiot on the planet thinks we have a chance this week
Not I sir – time to tank for a top 5 pick, this team is pathetically bad, much like the last two versions under DK
What have the 25 assistants brought to the team, ZERO
Its a Bucs life for sure
November 19th, 2019 at 9:56 pm
Problem is, if we have the same GM, we will likely screw up the pick, yet again.
November 20th, 2019 at 11:08 am
NUMBER ONE PROBLEM … WINSTON. …NUMBER TWO PROBLEM … THEY ARE EXECUTING AGAINST THEIR OWN DEFENSE IN PRACTICE SO OF COURSE THEY NAIL IT!!
