Confidence-Saving Win For Ronald Jones
November 10th, 2019Imagine how Ronald Jones’ self-inflicted fumble would have weighed on the 22-year-old if that mid-fourth-quarter blunder had turned out to be the game’s most crushing blow against the Bucs.
Yeah, the victorious Bucs are now 3-6, but Joe might be most happy now for Jones’ confidence.
Bucs fans heard all offseason that Jones not only needed a confidence boost, but fans heard coaches and players repeatedly prop the guy up to build that confidence.
And it worked.
RoJo has turned into a real NFL running back. And while he couldn’t run the ball well consistently today (11 carries for 29 yards) and was outplayed on the rushing front by Peyton Barber, Jones had a career day catching the ball with eight receptions for 77 yards on eight targets.
Joe saw RoJo fumble that ball untouched and then him hanging his head on the sidelines, and Joe couldn’t help but think of whether RoJo was too fragile to handle it if the Bucs lost.
But they didn’t. Barber got the call on the game-winning drive and Jones was taken off the hook.
Joe sure hopes Bucco Bruce Arians keeps starting Jones and getting him valuable experience and confidence in this lost season.

Rojo will be a good situational backup if glazers ever attempt to field a respectable product

I hope he continues to start too….
GO BUCS

RoJo has game. He needs to be on the field.

He had a great all around game. We wouldn’t have been in position to win without him. With that being said, his fumble could’ve cost us the game but his TEAM picked him up. I hope that continues for the rest of the season.

I thought this was ROJO’s breakout game. We knew he had improved as a runner but he’s catching passes now.
He caught one that he bobbled…but the beauty was he stayed with it until he was sure to wrap it up BEFORE running…lots of guys try to run before they have solid possession.
I cannot figure out why he had the Jameis like fumble. Brain Cramp?

He played his A$$ off today and he’s gonna get better.

Off topic Evans looking real tired of these overthrows. His facial expression tell a story.
November 10th, 2019 at 5:29 pm
yep, RoJo would like to have that one back …move on ..Dean bailed you out
November 10th, 2019 at 5:29 pm
@H8 nice job creating a story where there isnt one. Jameis deep ball to Evans has been money this year outside of this game.

He can just consult with Jameis to find the best way to but personally losing the game behind you and moving on to losing the next game LOL.

Rojo played well but Barber on that last drive was running real angry. You could tell he wanted this one bad after being benched.

Don’t like us passing the ball so freaking much. Their DL made too many plays because of that today. I’d like to see more commitment to the run

Rojo’s a good back, not an electric threat, but good, servicable. One less position we need to address in the draft!
November 10th, 2019 at 7:07 pm
Radio announcers said Rojo runs with the ball exposed.

Ronald Jones is virtually a rookie since he got nada playing time last year. You can see he’s been working on his receiving skills. Bucs need to let him touch the ball 18-20 total times a game. At least 5 catches a game should be the norm.

That fumble was not in character; in fact, it was a freak occurrence. I wouldn’t be holding RoJo responsible for that. He’s had excellent ball security.

Jones couldn’t catch a cold last yr & now he’s catching w/ ease most times. Wow look what coaching can do.
I’ll tell it what I liked most about him, they stopped the running game today. Mostly b/c the o-line was getting trash on the run. So he made himself value in the passing game. That’s why he’s a good RB. Find ways to help your team in all areas!

BL has taken a blistering this season…and IMO justifiably at times.
Today I thought was different. The Cards obviously had their pass rush in gear early and what did BL do to counter it?
Made ROJO a star. I LOVE watching screen passes against a defense that is rushing the passer with their ears pinned back.

I just wish we would have got him back in at the last drive on the goal line and let him run it in, to show him the staff still believes in him. Did he even get back in the game after the fumble?
November 10th, 2019 at 8:46 pm
Looking back it sure seemed like Jones gained more than 29 yards rushing. Getting closer to breaking a long one for a TD.

Jones is a keeper but we need to draft or sign a legit number one back next year. Whether we keep Jameis (holy hell I hope not) or draft a rookie to start, we’ll need a true difference maker at running back. It looks like Jones’s ceiling is going to be as a complimentary piece. Far better than him being a bust.
