“He Doesn’t Interact With Us, Individually, As Coaches Did In The Past.”
November 8th, 2019Joe’s not sure what to make of this nugget that appeared on the Arizona Republic’s newspaper website.
Apparently, the publication had a reporter working in Tampa this week preparing a story on beloved former Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians. He caught up to Cameron Brate who gave this assessment of playing for Arians.
“He’s in charge of everything, but he doesn’t interact with us, individually, as coaches did in the past,” tight end Cameron Brate said. “He pawns off those responsibilities to the position coaches and lets them coach the guys. If he wants his voice heard, he’ll definitely express what he wants to get across and hold us accountable. Sometimes, that’s tough but it’s also what we need. He’s definitely brought a positive energy to the team and to the whole building.”
Brate played for two head coaches before Arians: Lovie Smith and Dirk Koetter. So he can’t bring a ton of perspective, but Joe found it interesting that Brate sees Arians has less interactive than those guys. Heck, Joe had talked to many players under Lovie who said Lovie never said more than a sentence or two to them.
Joe primarily was intrigued because Arians has quipped multiple times this year that he’s been bored because he’s got such a huge and competent staff and he’s not the playcaller as he was in Arizona. So Joe would have expected Arians to spend more time cruising around the team and getting to know players 1-on-1.
Again, this is just one tight end’s take, but Brate is a rather perceptive dude and he’s also the kind of guy who socializes with teammates.

Because he is on easy street collecting fat ass checks.
November 8th, 2019 at 8:36 am
So your saying it is bad because he is not doing it like previous coaches…where did that get you the last 10+ years? Lol!

BA and his BS have officially Retired on Active Duty!
November 8th, 2019 at 8:41 am
Probably doesn’t even know their names or what positions they play either. But hey, at least he is bringing positive energy to the team.
November 8th, 2019 at 8:49 am
BA bringing positive energy to his bank account.
November 8th, 2019 at 8:49 am
The most important comment was about accountability which is the number thing missing from Dirk and his regime. I do think an NFL player that has played for 3 head coaches does have considerable experience on styles.
November 8th, 2019 at 8:50 am
That’s because he is on cruise control. IMO he thought he could just rise around in his little golf cart and make sure all his little minions were doing their jobs then go to lunch with his huge beer belly buddy Jason Gump and win a few and lose a few and get some more loot to pad his retirement.

Reminds me of Hugh Culverhouse not recognizing Ian Beckles at One Buc Place 3 years into his career with the Bucs.

NFL STANDS FOR……NOT FOR LONG ….. CLEAN HOUSE TOP TO BOTTOM LICHT IS LICKED AS IN DONE FINSHED 66% LOOSING RECORD…. END OF DISCUSSION…
November 8th, 2019 at 8:56 am
But does BA’s golf cart interact with brate that is the real question. BA thinks he is bear bryant re-incarnated but those days of the junction boys are long gone
November 8th, 2019 at 8:57 am
Big nothing burger. He wont talk to us!
November 8th, 2019 at 9:04 am
Hard to interact when your on the golf cart checking your bank account
Licht and Arians dupes the Glazers and fans
November 8th, 2019 at 9:32 am
Waste of money.
November 8th, 2019 at 9:32 am
Who cares what Brate thinks he is a fine player coach needs to talk with Jameis mostly … the kicker… RoJo I mean the players that struggle.
November 8th, 2019 at 9:42 am
The sooner people realize that BA is full of $hit and a BAD hire, the better off the Bucs will be.
Peace, out
November 8th, 2019 at 9:48 am
Since the Joe’s are into conspiracy theories and a lot of the whiny posters would like to see coaching and GM changes.
What it if instead of BA retiring, BA moves to President, he promotes one of his guys to HC, and becomes Jason’s Boss on paper (we can assume, Jason is already doing what BA wants, because JL is on his last coach decision).
In BA I Trust!

Speaking of coaching Mr. Gruden seems to be doing rather well. As usual a QB on his team is having a career year.
Sure am glad we “dodged a bullet” and didn’t get him here. But who would want winning football and all.
And special thanks to the brain dead who ran him out of town.
November 8th, 2019 at 10:09 am
Eric – Gruden brought us a Super Bowl. Thank You JG! But he earned his firing. I’ve talked to ex players, one who does broadcasts and was still playing for him at the time, he felt it was time for him to go too. He had lost the passion to do it and the locker room with his ego.
Btw, if you watched last night, you saw a qback give that game away. The Chargers did whatever they wanted last night in the first half. The game should have been out of reach, but Int’s completely erased all the hard work by every other player on the field. Sound familiar?
November 8th, 2019 at 10:09 am
Lol, hiring this dude is looking worse and worse everyday.
November 8th, 2019 at 10:14 am
This speaks volumes when the NUMBER #1 Coach doesn’t interact with the most important people in his Organization…HIS PLAYERS!!!!
It really sounds like this is just a Joy Ride for Bruce Arians along with trying to help further the careers of Byron Leftwich and Todd Bowles.
Right now this whole coaching staff looks suspect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lovie 2.0
November 8th, 2019 at 10:20 am
Glazers got conned again. They thought they were hiring BA the hands on play calling wiz and got BA the delegator. Neither he nor Licht know how to evaluate and pick talent. This will not end well and us fans will be stuck once again with the consequences.

Bruce ” Lack of Preparation H – I didn’t miss coaching but why not” Arians
What does he have to say to the workers on the line? He has 2 coaches for each player, that should be good enough for communicating.
November 8th, 2019 at 10:55 am
I think Joe is forgetting that Brate played for Sean Payton in New Orleans for a week or so.
November 8th, 2019 at 10:56 am
It’s probably because Arians is always out trying to find some media to talk to
November 8th, 2019 at 11:01 am
Not thrilled to read that… All I know is it looks and feels like this team is gaining positive mo. It might turn this season.
Go Bucs!!
November 8th, 2019 at 11:14 am
I try to give folks the benefit of the doubt, but it’s getting harder & harder to do that with BA. I thought when he was hired that we were getting a highly experienced offensive coach who could ‘fix Jameis’ & get this team turned around rather quickly. Instead BA’s turned out to be the Delegator in Charge who seems to constantly blow smoke to create diversions from the real problems.
My biggest issue admittedly is with our junior OC receiving on-the-job-training. Well, SUPPOSEDLY receiving OJT because I’m seeing a lot of the same mistakes continuing to recur and it’s costing us games IMO. The Bucs very expensive offense (slid to #2 most costly in the NFL now with only 23 players) SHOULD be bailing the Bucs’ defense out of jams (#21 most costly in the NFL now that JPP is back in the fold), not the other way around.
And Joe, I have a really hard time seeing how a head coach can be ‘bored’ when his team is 2-6. If his staff was firing on all cylinders AND the team was 8-0 right now then MAYBE I could see him being bored, not wanting to rock the boat. For a coach who preaches ACCOUNTABILITY I’d say that BA needs to rethink his definition of that word.

Raiders players seem to be playing hard for Gru and like him just fine. And he has made some excellent personnel moves.
This spiral of disaster can be traced back to firing Gru, hiring Raheem.

Sport hit the nail on the head…at least half of it…
“Gruden brought us a Super Bowl. Thank You JG! But he earned his firing.”
Sport brought up the fact that many players had quit on Chucky believing him to be untruthful and untrustworthy.
I’ll add the other half. Like Sport I thank Chucky for the SB but the very next year he went 7-9. In fact in his years following the SB here in Tampa Jon Gruden was a LOSING coach. Why do so many of us ignore that…yeah we love that SB..perhaps that’s it.
But in fact after that Super Bowl win Chucky was 44-51 over his final six years. That is a LOSING record.

Well his last two years in Tampa he had back to back 9-7 winning records with player’s that quit on him and found him untruthful and untrustworthy. Must be one heck of a ball coach to accomplish that don’t ya think brah?
November 8th, 2019 at 1:26 pm
Damn you could tell he’s morphed into the master delegator.
Glazers need to tell BA to get off his golf cart and start freakin’ coaching!
November 8th, 2019 at 2:17 pm
Nothing to see here move along.. ur head coach is not ur buddy see where that got raheim Morris. Hc is your boss. You are a professional you get paid like the rest of the working society to do your job.
November 8th, 2019 at 5:35 pm
I think the biggest problem is his relationship with Licht, #2 is he isn’t coaching the way he has his whole career it’s kinda like pay me big head coach money while I try this half coach / half retired style # 3 his relationship with Bowles , # 4 he wants make a mark as an opportunity provider at the expense of the team and fans and that’s where again the Licht relationship is really really bad !!!!
November 8th, 2019 at 6:21 pm
that would cut into his time reserved for donuts
November 9th, 2019 at 1:04 pm
I called it all when he was hired- check the board- guy seems to be a good coach but has a big bs/politician component to him. It depends how I invested he is
