Pride Oozing From Jameis Today
November 6th, 2019America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, just finished his podium session with media at One Buc Palace and he was oozing with pride when it came to three key factors.
In no particular order:
1. Jameis noted that he’s thrown the ball away (versus unnecessarily extending a play) better in the last two games than he likely has in his entire career. Jameis seemed quite happy about that.
2. Jameis was all smiles talking about his improvement throwing deep ball and credited QB coach Clyde Christensen and the standing order from Bucco Bruce Arians to keep your eyes down the field before taking the checkdown too soon.
3. And the Bucs’ starting QB said when your top-dog receiver, referring to Mike Evans, is humming like he has been the past two games, it strikes fear into defenses and the entire offense falls into place.
Yes, the Bucs are a woeful 2-6 and on a four-game losing streak, but Jameis appears at peace and feeling very confident.
Hopefully, he’ll be further buoyed by a win Sunday against a below average Arizona team, which would set up a chance for Jameis to open the eyes of the NFL against the mighty Saints defense the following week.
November 6th, 2019 at 2:44 pm
Jameis needs to get “3rd Prize” if you know what I mean.
November 6th, 2019 at 2:46 pm
Oh,
I’d be all smiles too if I knew for a fact that he’ll atleast get 17 Million per year from some crazy team next year thinking they can “fix” Jameis.
November 6th, 2019 at 2:46 pm
You’ve heard the phrase….”Ignorance is bliss”…..
Don’t mean to be cruel here….and I’m happy Jameis feels better but we’ve seen this movie before.
November 6th, 2019 at 2:46 pm
Wow…all basic High School 101 QB stuff…..so much for the “most NFL ready QB “
November 6th, 2019 at 2:47 pm
I guess it’s time to just enjoy football for the next 8 games.
All these moral victories make my head spin.
November 6th, 2019 at 2:47 pm
This is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers…this is not the JW Bucaneers…..
November 6th, 2019 at 2:48 pm
@ Tampabaybucfan
Don’t you mean “seen this horror movie before”?
November 6th, 2019 at 2:48 pm
Year after year our team finally gets it together once they have nothing to lose.
November 6th, 2019 at 2:49 pm
7 wins or Jameis is history–and we should not worry about him being successful elsewhere.
November 6th, 2019 at 2:52 pm
Does that ‘keep your eyes down the field’ comment bug anyone else? Am I the only one that feels wed be better if he dumped it off more? Even that fumble caused by Smith felt like typical jameis hanging in there too long with no awareness or internal clock
November 6th, 2019 at 2:54 pm
All the racists cant wait to dump Winston and trade for Dalton
November 6th, 2019 at 2:55 pm
There’s a certain “ooze” that’s been coming out of Jameis for what, five years now? That “ooze” has an odor to it…..
November 6th, 2019 at 2:55 pm
You fools are bucs fans lol what do you really know about quarterbacks? Most of you watch 2-3 games a week otherwise you would not have such a narrow opinion of this quarterback. And watching fsmn highlights every week dont count. He is no Russell Wilson but he can win games with a defense. These dumb comments sound just like the ones about trent dilfer before he left and won a superbowl.
November 6th, 2019 at 2:56 pm
@ Coburn
There’s only one thing Jameis is great at…..and that is blowing smoke up people’s rear ends.
With Jameis, there’s always another fumble, interception, mistake…..or something that will cause his team to lose or almost lose.
It’s just the same old tired song with him^^^^^^^^^
November 6th, 2019 at 2:58 pm
Down field passing is the core element of the 4 vertical offense which has its origins dating back to the Chargers (Air Coryell) and Dan Fouts.
Both Koetter and Arians run this offense so a lot of what some fans assume that Winston is holding the ball that is what he is being coached to do. Think offense is the exact opposite of say the Bears Offense which seems to favor horizontal passing versus our vertical passing.
November 6th, 2019 at 2:59 pm
Let me be straight here. I am not a JW fan. And I was ready to move on next year without him. But I did see improvement in the last game. He is right. He is throwing it away and managing the ball better. But for me to be in his court at all, he’ll have to string some of these games together. Can he carry this team…No. Secondary must get better.
November 6th, 2019 at 3:01 pm
Yeah man, I only watch one game a week. So what? Because I don’t plant my ass in a chair for 20+ hours a week, I have no idea what good QB play is?
GTFOH. There’s always somebody who claims they have some type of knowledge that nobody else possesses. “Oh, I watch more football than you” means you’ve got no life, no girlfriend, or you go hide to avoid your wife family.
Leading the league in turnovers since your first season is sucky QB play. Don’t need to be Einstein to know that.
November 6th, 2019 at 3:01 pm
I’m tired of fans and everyone making excuses for Jameis …..
……why is it always someelse’s problem when it comes to Jameis
Why can’t Jameis be held accountable is the question that all you Jameis apologists and lovers need to answer?
November 6th, 2019 at 3:09 pm
How many times has “the quarterback”…led the team downfield for a winning anything?…Hell a completion is a win for Jamyth
November 6th, 2019 at 3:11 pm
Now that the playoffs are out of reach Jamies will pump his numbers up and tease with fantastic play and fool everyone into a 2nd contract.
November 6th, 2019 at 3:21 pm
Matt Schwab oozing with pride too after throwing for 500 yards vs the seahawks 2 weeks ago. I think Jameis has a run of a few good games here thru Thanksgiving.
November 6th, 2019 at 3:21 pm
He’s prideful because he did his job well. The defense can not say the same thing.
November 6th, 2019 at 3:22 pm
will JW beat a back up QB or rookie QB this season?….lol…
if we’re still asking this question after 5years, its time to move on…
GO BUCS!!!!
November 6th, 2019 at 3:41 pm
I love all these pee wee football all-stars who are now fast food prep cooks and bag boys talking as if they know anything about professional football. If anyone of you was good at football coaching, playing, or evaluating talent, you would be earning a very lucrative salary doing it! I would love for some of you clowns to sit down and talk qb with JW or drafting with the GM. I bet by the time they teach you 1%of what you don’t know you would stfu!
November 6th, 2019 at 3:45 pm
Dewey Selmon my thoughts exactly.
November 6th, 2019 at 3:45 pm
maybe his agent told jameis that he had a way out of Tampa guaranteed…. free jameis he has earned parole from this small market irrelevant circus.
November 6th, 2019 at 3:52 pm
Yea! I’m so glad Jameis is happy. Personally, I’d rather he say, “There’s nothing to be happy about when your team is 2-6 and on the verge of again being eliminated from the playoffs with half a season still to play. I don’t give a damn about my stats. We are losing. I’m not happy”. He has accepted losing and is trying to put whipped cream and a cherry on top of a turd.
November 6th, 2019 at 4:05 pm
I’m glad somebody is happy. The fans sure aren’t. Give him a cookie, he’s finally doing the bare minimum of what any rookie QB should be doing coming into the league, let alone the #1 over all pick in his fifth year. Is he driven to work in a short yellow bus?
November 6th, 2019 at 4:06 pm
@ eric
How much is Jameis Winston and his camp paying you to make these crazy outlandish comments??????
November 6th, 2019 at 4:08 pm
Oozing $24,000,000.00~~~~
November 6th, 2019 at 4:08 pm
Jameis at ease when he has Jameis 1 of 1 and BA and crazy Joe throwing cover all the time. It’s the rest of the world that see’s it for what it really is. What if he lays another egg with the flailing Cards and Murray out performs him?
November 6th, 2019 at 4:14 pm
you go hide to avoid your wife family.
————–
You say it like it’s a bad thing 🤣🤣🤣🤣
November 6th, 2019 at 4:14 pm
I’m done with this social experiment offered up as football… never in any team sport at any level have I witnessed something as bizarre as this has been …
November 6th, 2019 at 4:16 pm
Jameis Winston…12 losses in 4+ years with a QBR of 100+
Russell Wilson… 10 losses in 7+ years with a QBR of 100+
Tom Brady… 9 losses in a long career with a QBR of 100+
Nobody loses more when they play well as Jameis Winston.
Nobody
November 6th, 2019 at 4:17 pm
Well let’s look at Russell Wilsons’ First 4 1/2 years never mind not even close. Let’s look at his last few years again never mind still not close. INT’s not close TD’s nope not then not now. Accuracy nope, release no, pocket presence no, touch pass no way, long ball nope, well if you want to compare him to Wilson there is NO comparison. Top 25 has been and always will be his range.
November 6th, 2019 at 4:19 pm
I think JayMiss ATM WinsNot is happy bc he’s top 5 in TDs top 7 in yards, has 2 top 10 receivers and 2 WRs leading the league in TDs.
NOW if JayMiss ATM WinsNot can play tighter bump and run coverage and apply more pressure to the QB he’d be totally worth the league minimum the Bucs should offer him next year. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Don’t worry guys once the Bucs move on from JW we can look forward to FINALLY winning 4-5 games per season like we did before he got here. 🤣🤣
November 6th, 2019 at 4:21 pm
Bucnjim
According to the leaderboard he’s a top 10 QB today.
November 6th, 2019 at 4:22 pm
Dapostman,
In the past five years who has a worse AVERAGE QB rating than WINSTON? It’s ok you can post names!
November 6th, 2019 at 4:25 pm
The kid played well and he is enthused and happy. Let him enjoy this. It ain’t over until it’s over.
Now, for those people who think tanking to get a higher draft pick is the way to go, you are weak, weak, weak.
November 6th, 2019 at 4:32 pm
“The standing order from Bucco Bruce Arians to keep your eyes down the field before taking the checkdown too soon.”
Maybe I’m blaming BL too quickly here. 12 deep passes Sunday with 4 completed … 33%. Contrast that to 32 short passes with 25 completed … 78%. And here I thought it was BL calling those deep shots. MAYBE it was BA all along. Bucs need to be a LOT more selective on the deep passes; this has been happening every game for the first half season.
Jameis did an exceptional job I thought with the short passes & ball security Sunday. He kept a couple of drives alive with his legs … 2 runs for 2 first downs. A key factor I think is that our OLine protected him better (3 sacks & 3 QB Hits in 79 offensive plays is much better than they’ve been doing). Jameis played well; now he just needs to do that MORE CONSISTENTLY.

#tankforburrow
November 6th, 2019 at 4:52 pm
JW has most likely already been told that he will not be here next year. This is why he is at peace and so carefree. AND…Look at the schedule for the rest of the year. 2, maybe three wins available. And that’s only because the Falcons sucks this year. Although, I can see them flinging the ball around against our D.
November 6th, 2019 at 4:53 pm
Dapostman has always been an idiot in this site.
November 6th, 2019 at 4:56 pm
exactly DR
November 6th, 2019 at 5:07 pm
If only Jamies would play corner for the Bucs.
November 6th, 2019 at 5:08 pm
I’m willing to concede with Jameis playing the way he has that improving the secondary and keeping Jameis is probably the key to this franchise going anywhere in the future.
November 6th, 2019 at 5:09 pm
Yay, Jameis talked. Words came out of his mouth. Things got said. Things got heard. Whoop-de-freakin-do. He’s definitely an All-Pro at talking. America’s Chatty Quarterback.
Hey Jameis: “Shut up and do your job.” Don’t tell me how good you’re getting. Show me. Do it. Prove it. Every game. Every. Game.
That goes for the whole organization. If they start winning then I’ll be interested in what they have to say. Until then they need to just shut up and do their damn jobs.
November 6th, 2019 at 5:12 pm
93 turnovers since 2015 and he’s happy?
Oh well, I guess for $20M+, I’d be happy too.
Peace, out
November 6th, 2019 at 5:17 pm
Should we also be concerned with Joes Bill Curry Ford ad that came immediately after this JW post??? PC Parole
November 6th, 2019 at 5:23 pm
Defense Rules I see that you love to dig into the stats. But I do find a lot of your number lack context so I’m not sure your conclusions are always accurate.
Let me offer some debate to your stats on deep balls. The 33% number does not indicate success to me. When you look back one of them deep balls resulted in a PI…….not sure if that pass counted or not it was benefical play for Tampa and makes our percent of success taking deep chances greater then 33.
One of the passes that I know that’s counted in that stat was a the deep pass to Evan right before halftime. While this play was unsuccessful it has a totally different context to any of the other 12 passes you mentioned because we had no time to score a TD without a deep shot……..To treat a play like this the same as the others simply is not fair if you are going to criticize decision making in regards to taking deep shots.
Then they are the two passes into the endzone. The Tanner drop and the Miller screwup. They were both around 20 yards so I’m not sure if they were counted. I would guess yes and if so I really don’t see how you could question the playcall. Both were TDs that were poorly executed. The decision does not look like the problem to me at all on those.
So that’s my case……my the verdict rest…..time for deliberation…..those are my four plays. That’s my 33%.
Just think your point would be much better received if you included more specifics about which specific plays are questionable to you.
November 6th, 2019 at 5:25 pm
Could you imagine if a miracle happened and we won 10 games straight?
Fantasy, I know. But it;s all we have right now.

Jeeeesh are you stupid. And when you point your finger and call someone a racist there are three more pointing back at you.
SMDH at the ignorance here sometimes.
November 6th, 2019 at 5:31 pm
Bonzai……One step at a time. We just lost 4 straight. Let’s make up for it and rip off 4 in a row. Get back to 500% and then go from there.
GO BUCS!
November 6th, 2019 at 5:53 pm
Jameis did not give up 40 points to the Seahawks and miss a game winning kick against the giants
November 6th, 2019 at 5:56 pm
SALES PITCH!!!!!
Sounds like his agent said time to turn on the charm and read from highlights of this year’s resume. Don’t forget to smile! Deflect all naysayers!!
What would you do, talk about your deficiencies? Money is on the line.
SALES PITCH!!!
November 6th, 2019 at 6:00 pm
JimmyJack … From what I can tell, penalties are ‘No Play’. Thus the pass interference by Tre Flowers on ME13 was a No Play that resulted in a 16 yard gain for the Bucs even though that dep pass was incomplete (and no, I didn’t count those … Flowers had 2 of those on ME13 in the 1st half & both passes were incomplete but didn’t count). Of the 12 deep passes that did count, 4 were complete (that’s where the 33% came from).
And I don’t question using deep passes at all, just using so many when the short passing game was on fire (78%). In the example that you used right before halftime, the ‘deep’ pass to ME13 was really not all that deep at all (16 yds which qualifies) getting us to the SEA-32. The next one with just 7 secs left was also deep to ME13, but was incomplete. Two good uses of ‘deep’ balls (we had to try to get into FG territory, which we did). Matt Gay missed the 50 yd FG (difficult chance).
In the 1st half, Jameis was 2-for-5 deep for 37 yds PLUS another deep pass (No Play) drew a 16-yd pass interference penalty. In the 2nd half he was 2-for-7 deep for 43 yds. So that’s 80 yds off of 4 completions. But if you look at it as 80 yds off of 12 attempts, that’s only 6.7 yds/deep attempt. Jameis hit on 78% of his short passes (25-for-32) for 255 yds … 8.0 yds/short pass attempt. IOW, we were MUCH more effective playing the short passing game. We just need to be more selective in using deep passes.
So that’s my case JimmyJack … and since it’s time for dinner, I need a recess. Oh and trust me, NO ONE wants me to write more. I often wish I could just settle for writing one-liners like some do, but that’s not how my mind works. You know, one-liners like “All the racists cant wait to dump Winston and trade for Dalton”. You know, meaningful (?) statements like that. Good Lord.
November 6th, 2019 at 6:12 pm
#tankforburrow?
Man!
I just can’t stand this line of thinking.
These guys need to start figuring out how to win!
They need to LEARN! NOT tank!
Let the draft pick be whatever!
Most of the guys on the Bucs this year, will also BE HERE NEXT YEAR AS WELL!
They need to learn what it takes to go out there and WIN!
EVERY SINGLE D@MN GAME!
I just don’t get some of you guys.
You will NEVER turn this team’s culture around if you EVER consider TANKING!
Good gracious fellas…
November 6th, 2019 at 6:30 pm
It is nice to see such team spirit. Every time I think he starts to get it some other bell rings. Narcissistic, this time.
We’ll see how he Sunday at about 4. Murray is going to school him and probably the defensive backfield too.
I see a long pass on Arizona’s first play and Jameis trying to catch up, and blowing it, for the rest of the game. At least three picks because he has never been able to string two good games together.
November 6th, 2019 at 6:42 pm
Defense Rules. My whole point is just about context.
You said 16 yards is considered a deep ball so that means the two in the Endzone(Tanner drp, Miller drop) are counted. And also the incometion to Evans before half. That right there is three of the eight incompletions. And I really don’t see how any of them are bad decisions……..yet they affect the stats in a negative way. Thats why I’m not a stat guy. They don’t accurately tell the story.
Another thing that doesn’t go get factored into the stats are when we call a long pass and the play is unsuccessful with an incompletion………..for example if there is a sack or a fumble or INT or a scramble for no gain or a check down for no gain or incompletion………none of those play will ever show up if you look at cometion vs incompletion on deep balls but all of them are a result from calling a deep ball in the huddle. Gotta go beyond the numbers baby.
November 6th, 2019 at 6:50 pm
So if we can sit here and decide that the pass to Tanner and the pass to Miller and the incomplete deep ball before halftime we’re fine uses of the deep ball……that leaves us with 9 deep balls to consider.
Of them 9, 4 were completed. That leaves us with 5……Those are the five that you are unhappy with………Focusing on those five might really give your point more merit. Then you can directly see how those decisions affected the game…………but they still won’t be the whole story since it doesn’t include any deep calls that resulted in something other they a cometion/incompletion………won’t be the whole story but should tell us a lot more then the percents and stats.
November 6th, 2019 at 7:21 pm
Watching good Jameis let alone bad is like standing on a knife’s edge ready to have at turnover at any second.
November 6th, 2019 at 7:35 pm
This Kid Murray can throw. He will be targeting our corners come Sunday. Either they have to be ready or our Pass rush has got to be awesome.
November 6th, 2019 at 7:36 pm
Thank the Football God’s that Winston has Mike Evans
November 6th, 2019 at 7:37 pm
DB55,
According to the leader board that actually matters (QB Rating) he is in the bottom 5. Unlike cherry picking stats the QB rating takes ALL things into account. Of course unless you consider the argument he is where he is because of the secondary. Well this is around where he’s been since day one. Good offenses and QBs are good whether or not their D is good or not. It also goes the other way around since good D’s are good. Now they do compliment each other.
November 6th, 2019 at 7:40 pm
I’m very happy that Winston has learned some QB fundamentals that are taught in high school football.
November 6th, 2019 at 7:49 pm
Yeah joe- wipe out my comment! Because that guy who called us racists-again- is a F N R E T A R D.
November 6th, 2019 at 7:51 pm

Riddle me that!

November 6th, 2019 at 8:00 pm
He was paid this year……$20 Million! By the end of the year he will have been paid $1 Million for each turnover. Or you could say he will be paid $2 Million per lose. Meanwhile Russell Willson is getting $2.5 Million per win imagine that!
November 6th, 2019 at 8:20 pm
July Joe, dWinston can’t even get paid in Uber dollars. Bannd from that too. Give it up.

I love comments like this, it just shows how extremely CLUELESS some of you are. Did you even watch that game? The Ravens defense was AWESOME all night thus the Ravens could stay in their pound and ground offense all night. If L. Jackson had to play with our defense he would have probably thrown 5-6 picks, 20% completion % and zero TDs cause they would known what was coming, which is him throwing, and it would have been U-G-L-Y!
November 6th, 2019 at 11:33 pm
I’M SO HAPPY FOR JAMEIS THAT HE LEARNED TO THROW THE BALL AWAY AFTER 12+ YEARS OF PLAYING FOOTBALL.
GIVE THAT MAN HIS $35,000,000 PER YEAR!

November 7th, 2019 at 7:18 am
Did he mention being prideful for not being suspended, or screaming profanities from a table top, or starting a fight while in street clothes, or paying off another sex abuse victim? He should since he’s apparently avoided them this season.
November 7th, 2019 at 8:36 am
NDog- I think you may have missed the point.
Carry on buddy.
November 7th, 2019 at 8:39 am
So you’re saying he didn’t throw 5-6 picks, keeping his defense on the field for more time than they should have been against the GOAT?
Makes total sense. So exactly what point were you trying to get across anyway?

TMAXCON:
TAMPA IS NOT A SMALL MARKET FRANCHISE.
There are approx three million people inside of a 50 mile radius of Tampa.
What has been hindering this team from becoming great are poor choices of general mgrs and lack of ability to evaluate players..
Should the Bucs ever field at least 22 quality players and a few good backups for depth, they would fill the stadium every week ..
November 7th, 2019 at 3:27 pm
I see they have reduced price of tickets starting at $35.00. I say the BUCS will be for SALE after the season.

LOL!
(Feel free to google “NFL TV contracts.” We should all be so broke.)
November 7th, 2019 at 9:20 pm
What Joe just said!!!!!
In fact as far back as a decade ago I read reports that the NFL while totally guaranteed a profit from the TV were concerned that half full stands make for a bad production.
And so the NFL will try not to shoot too many shots of the empty seats. The Glazers are not affected $$$ but the half empty stadium represents a bad stage for the NFL to showcase.
Other than the optics the NFL doesn’t really need to care how many are in their stadia.
