Bucs Can’t Assume Talib And Jackson Will Behave

Joe’s already had quality NFL Draft arguments around the water cooler.
One such heated debate had Joe standing tall behind the Bucs needing to make improving the secondary a big priority.
There are the obvious arguments: Ronde Barber is likely retired after 2010, Sabby Goatscitelli plays strong safety, Elbert Mack and Derrick Roberson aren’t much, and Jermaine Phillips might replace Sally Field pitching Boniva.
But almost as important to Joe is the likelihood of Tanard Jackson and helmet-wielding Aqib Talib getting into trouble and missing games.
Joe hopes these young and extremely talented men have only good things in their futures, but the Bucs surely can’t bank on it.
How could they?
Jackson already missed four games in 2009 for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. He’s a screw-up away from more time.
As for Talib, well, he would win Joe’s vote for the Bucs player most likely to get arrested in the offseason.
The guy just has never found a way to avoid trouble in his NFL career. To flashback, this season he tried to decapitate Donald Penn with a helmet and subsequently clubbed Torrie Cox in the face. The shot required medical attention. Then Talib allegedly belted a cab driver for no reason, and represented the Bucs in England with a profanity-laced tirade in a hotel.
What’s next, Aqib?
Joe hopes Mark Dominik doesn’t gamble that Jackson and Talib will be available for every game over the next few seasons.
If the draft were tomorrow, Joe would want the Bucs to use one of their first three picks on a defensive back. Considering Raheem The Dream’s undeniable expertise with the secondary, that would also be one of the Bucs’ safest bets.

Joe, what’s your point with this post? I think your point is that those players won’t be available to play if they get in more trouble. However, they could just as easily get injured and not be available.
Or are you saying the Bucs should get rid of these players because they might get in more trouble?

BUT..they are talented and they are not in trouble, DT has to be addressed. Has to. If the Bucs wanted to make a statement, take Suh\McCoy with #3 then move up into the mid-late 1st and grab Brice or Hayden if they’re available.
It won’t happen, but it would be a bold statement.

Louie, gosh isn’t the point clear? Simply, when the Bucs consider drafting in the secondary, they should bump up the importance there because they’ve two guys back there who have a decent shot of getting in serious trouble, in addition to all the on-the-field stuff related to the defensive backfield.

Joe, the Bucs don’t have that kind of luxury. There are too many other areas of need and are not going to be able to replace Talib and Jackson because they “might” get into more trouble. They’d be better off hiring baby sitters for them to help keep them out of trouble. Oh, that’s right, the Glazers won’t spend any money so forget the baby sitters.

Baby Sitters??? Baby Sitters????? These are GROWN men playing this game getting paid very well to play it. Am i wrong? Is it a long career in the NFL no, but getting grown men Baby Sitters.. come on… If grown men can not and i say can not keep themselves out of trouble, knowing that this is their MONEY ticket. Tough S#it, If i am making even $250,000 a year do you think i would piss it away doing stupid stuff? Would you? I think that the players are getting worse and worse at wanting the MONEY but not the attention good and bad that goes with it. If i was making the kind of money that these players make i would have a TAXI service set at # 2 on speed dial and stay away from my “Kind” buds. Save my money and when i could not play any longer i would have myself setup. to do what i wanted to do beat people smoke anything i can or want.
Baby Sitters, yeah they need those.
