“It’s True”

October 31st, 2019

Backs Bucs coach.

Joe still has those words ringing in his ears.

The best time to get quotes from a coach or a player is right after a game, win or lose, when the emotions are fresh, raw. More important, getting quotes in the immediate aftermath of an event doesn’t allow a person time for a media relations staffer to craft a more delicate, politically correct response.

So when Bucco Bruce Arians took to the postgame podium in Nashville following a brutal loss that effectively ended the Bucs’ postseason prayers, Arians, with emotions bubbling, lashed out at the referee who blew a whistle and killed a play that may have won the game for the Bucs, the Andrew Adams scoop-and-score.

Arians said, “My biggest thing is, referees are not held accountable. Coaches get fired. General managers get fired. Players get cut. Referees are not held accountable. And it is a shame.

Now why would Arians out of the blue like that given the circumstances suggest coaches and a general manager could get fired for that loss?

In the same press conference, Arians also said about playing for the draft and maybe getting younger players more snaps, Arians thundered that he was in it to win it and said next year is “not guaranteed.”

Joe doesn’t think dots need to be painted for readers to connect here.

The following day, Pat Kirwan, co-host of the best damn football show on radio, “Movin’ the Chains,” heard exclusively on SiriusXM NFL Radio, was fighting not to laugh hearing the audio clip of Arians going off.

“God bless Bruce, he’s just telling the truth,” Kirwan said chuckling. “I’m laughing out of tears, really, because he pointed out you get fired for losing games [like the Tennessee Ready Game II], players get cut, the whole shooting match. But, it’s true!”

Now Joe isn’t saying Arians is going to get run. Then again, predicting what Team Glazer will do is a waste of time and energy. Surely they cannot be happy to see their team actually worse now than it was under former Bucs coach Dirk Koetter.

And who knows, if this team continues to spiral south, Arians may just say, “Aw, the hell with this, I don’t need it” and in January go back to his forever home with his wife on a Georgia lakefront.

Arians, as an NFL head coach, had never lost three regular season games in a row, which is the Bucs’ current losing streak.

Lol Bruce should just be talking about a “Franchise QB” that gets people fired.
Yes it was a HORRIFIC Call that we should have won on.
92 Turnovers in 4.5 years should be enough for any fan though.
Not sure how that equates to a coach’s decision

  2. Buc1987 Says:

I hope someday that the Glazers will sell this team to someone with a clue.

    Go Bucs!

  3. Petty Officer Buc Says:

General Managers don’t get fired for a ref calling a trick field goal play being blown dead early, and the Buccaneers still got the ball anyways with plenty of time on the clock and over three minutes on the clock in an only 27-23 game.

General Managers get fired for having a worse record than the previous GM they replaced
General Managers get fired for inept drafting in the second round year after year
General Managers get fired for trading up to draft a kicker in the second round
General Managers get fired for completely blowing the 2016 draft
General Managers get fired for putting the team in salary cap hell somehow after consecutive 5-11 seasons
General Managers get fired for ignoring Running Backs in the 2017 draft, the deepest in recent memory and drafting the one retard who can’t read a playbook
General Managers get fired for neglecting the pass rush their entire tenure
General Managers get fired for not once having a solid offensive line
General Managers get fired for failed free agent after failed free agent
General Managers get fired for putting rookies out in the secondary with ZERO veteran help
General Managers get fired for completely neglecting the trenches and neglecting pass rushers even when gifted with high draft picks year after year

THAT’S WHY GENERAL MANAGERS GET FIRED!

  4. Lamarcus Says:

I’m really disappointed in this coaching staff I backed Arians and kinda thinking we are worse than previous years and looking the Arizona Cardinals with Rosen at Qb with the Jets defense

  5. Buc1987 Says:

Petty Officer Buc …BUT…how do you feel about Jason Licht?

  6. Lamarcus Says:

Even when we get into position to win the old gets in way.

  7. Petty Officer Buc Says:

Please, this is me sober 😀

  8. Tye Says:

The draft is suppose to be a good year for drafting qbs..
The way I see it going:
    Dolphins – Tua
    Bengals – Burrows

so if we land in the top 5, option could be
    Herbert
    Fromm
    Eason

Or does the bucs go with a veteran… supposedly many quality vets possible..
    Andy Dalton
    Cam Newton
    Marcus Mariota
    Nick Foles
    Philip Rivers
    Eli Manning

It will be interesting to see where they go from here!

  9. Buc1987 Says:

Tye….Philip Rivers to Tampa Bay for the win please.

  10. ElBajito43 Says:

Petty Officer Buc- please join us @ “FIRE JASON LICHT on Facebook group
@ Tye – Buccaneers are behind the Broncos and they have no guarantees Drew Locke is the franchise, they may be in front of the Bucs
MORE IMPORTANTLY…… Bucs will beat Atlanta…. Winston will play well on certain Sundays when he wakes up on the right side of the bed, and we will have a small collection of about 5 wins at years end. THIS WILL TOTALLY F$ck Us from being in QB position. BTW can’t expect “TRASH” LICHT to know which of the QBs available is the Real Deal.
He will find a way to screw up anything.
I keep telling everyone that Gump And Gomer Pyle are TIED TO WINSTON and even if they secretly meet at Jason’s pool parties 🎉 and scheme about college QBs, they will be far into the 12th or 15th pick range in First Rd. I wish it weren’t this way BUT THE WORLD IS A CRUEL PLACE MY SON

  11. ElioT Says:

    @Petty Officer

    Huzzah! Friend.

    Well said.

Jason Licht should be shamed out of Tampa.

My guess is Arians had no clue the mess he was getting into created by his buddy/the worst GM in pro sports.

This team is a running joke, in large part to the horrific drafting and FA acquisitions by this idiot.

Talk all the **** you want about the Glaziers, they spend the money, just trust in the wrong meatheaded dumb**** of a GM, year after year.

Question for y’all (Not counting the QB position):
What have been the Bucs top needs ever offseason since this moron has been in charge?

    Answer:
The same ****** s*** every year!

Get the hell out of here Jason!

If you washed dishes at Applebee’s you’d be out of a job.

Go back to “scouting” and take your whole staff with you.

    You’re a sack of ****!

  12. FortMyersDave Says:

Great posts from Petty officer Buc and El Bajito43. How much you bet that the Bucs go into the final home game at 4 dash 11 against a 3 dash 12 ATL team and if they lose they draft 4th and ahead of the ATL if they win they end up losing tiebreakers to 3 or 4 other 5-11 bottom feeders and end up picking somewhere aroound 8 or 9 and miss out on the top shelf 1st rounders just like in 2016 when the Bucs shocked the Saints on the final day but bumped themselves behind Cleveland, Denver and Indy in the draft order and watched Denzel Ward, Bradlee Chubb and Quenton Thomas fall off the board. This time it will be high ceiling qbs dropping off the board before the Bucs pick…..

  13. Tampabuscsbro Says:

You know this whole situation really makes me think. Is Arians going to peace out of here after this year cause he cannot stomach this situation. There is a chance he was led to believe by the GM that this situation wasn’t as bad as it is. Thus here we are he has a roster with glaring holes all over it and he cannot make the best of it. He may have realized this after week 3. That is when these things got interesting with game planning, play calls, and personnel decisions. I cannot tell if we are trying to tank or are just that bad.

Also Arians thought he had something in Winston and he was fooled by him just like all of us were.

  14. BucAllNight Says:

Pat Kiran by far has the “best damn football show period on radio” Joe

    take it easy buddy…

  15. James Esser Says:

I I keep trying to pull for Winston he should be farther along than what he is now it’s obvious he’s clueless and he’s not coachable you can’t coach stupid

  16. James Esser Says:

    QBring in Colin Kaepernick

  17. CPN Says:

    @Tye

Unfortunately, Jameis is getting a franchise tag and we are stuck with him while Licht drafts more DBs to fix the secondary.

  18. Rayjay1122 Says:

Damn, if Jason Licht really has a burner Twitter account that he spends 12 hours a day trolling people and pimping Winston then he is even more worthless than I had previously thought.

I will no longer pull for the Bucs as long as Licht is GM. Casual observer mode. Good luck to the gluttons for punishment that won’t take a stand against this shameful state of the organization.

  19. Bobby M. Says:

If the Glazers opt to “rebuild”, Arians will likely be given the option to stick around similar to Gruden. Arians would likely decline, leaving Bowles/Leftwich to be promoted, the rest of the staff stays in place, roster gets purged and my guess is Licht gets dumped with someone internally getting promoted up.

I think one and done is a real possibility at this point. There’s nothing that warrants even a franchise tag on Winston, if he continues his tsunami of turnovers, the team will keep losing and his days as a Buc will be winding down. Its going to depend on where we draft, who’s available, etc. Maybe there’s a guy they like but he needs some grooming, then maybe Winston gets a two yr discounted deal cheaper then the franchise tag but that’s it. Its highly doubtful another team pays a premium for his services.

  20. down in the dirt doug Says:

Petty Officer—many of us would put up money to have your great statements on a Dale Mabry billboard.

  21. ATLBuc Says:

The!!! Have you actually seen Fromm play??? Apparently not. Do watch the FlaGa game this weekend and you will take back those words. Actually under Mullen, Franks has become a much better QB than most of those listed. He’s injured so he might fall to us. And, we should try to sign Teddy. He’s not spectacular but thes steady and consistent

  22. ATLBuc Says:

I like Jameis but I think that when he gets into certain situations his ADD kicks in

  23. Hodad Says:

Petty O, everything you said about Licht is true, and is plain as day to see. However, the real problem are the clueless Glazer children who gave the same dolt you just mentioned a new contract before a single real game was played this year. That’s what our real problem is, ownership.

  24. AlteredEgo Say: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

All BA needs is a average NFL QB…

  25. jjbucfan Says:

ATL- did you just say that we should draft Felipe Franks? Just Curious

  26. NPRSageBoy Says:

    Fire him, keep him….

At this point really don’t give a $hit.

    Peace, out

  27. Oregonbucsfan Says:

Did anyone notice all the changes/upgrades/draft picks acquired before the trade deadline? …..Crickets!

There in front of all is our All Star GM hard at work creatively improving the Buc team roster.

And, we had the Pollyannas on this site talking about (10-6) records (you know who) for weeks before Game 1.

Word to the wise: This team needs a BIG upgrade before we talk even winning records.

  28. D-Rome Says:

I wish the Glazers would get it out of their head that success isn’t all about the head coach.

  29. jjbucfan Says:

Oregon- I’ll admit, I was one of those suckers!! In fairness, had no idea that Leftwich would be calling plays and Todd Bowles would be like in the bottom 3 of total defense despite having the number 1 run defense in the NFL. That our new kicker would miss a 38 yarder to win a game (by the way he has been great since) and that Jameis would be still be running for his life and handing the ball to opposite team like it’s his job.

  30. Reach87 Says:

    More Madden fans.

    Go Bucs!

  31. Bosch Says:

Well it is about to be 4 in a row. Get on back to GA Bruce
