October 20th, 2019Here’s a very ugly official NFL NextGen stat that looks bad for Bucs receivers, offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich and Jameis Winston.
Who deserves most the blame is a mystery.
Joe likes the NextGen data because it has nothing to do with part-time film watchers defining whether an offensive lineman allowed a quarterback pressure on a screen pass, projecting the real meaning of running backs getting hit in the backfield ,and grading cornerbacks covering receivers.
The NextGen data is all technology-driven tracking.
The Bucs and Jameis Winston are struggling in a particular component of the passing game called “Expected Completion Percentage.”
NextGen technology tracks the probability of a pass completion based on numerous factors that include receiver separation from the nearest defender, where the receiver is on the field, and the separation the passer had at time of throw from the nearest pass rusher. That probability is calculated on every play to determine what a passer’s completion percentage is expected to be for that throw.
On Jameis passes this season, his Expected Completion Percentage has been 59.2 percent, per NextGen data. That rate is second worst in the NFL. Only Ryan Fitzpatrick’s is lower. Jameis’ actual completion rate is 60 percent. So that’s solid.
Matt Ryan, Teddy Bridgewater, Jimmy Garoppolo and Sam Darnold all have an Expected Completion Percentage at 68 percent or higher, and all are competing at higher than that rate
That makes Joe wonder what’s going on. Are Bucs receivers not getting open well? Is Jameis throwing to too many covered targets and not finding the open man enough? Is he throwing a shade too late? Is Byron Leftwich not setting his QB up for success? Is the pass rush heat from defenses dragging the number down?
Jameis was 7th worst in this category last season and Fitzpatrick was 11th worst in a season when they combined for 26 interceptions.
Lotta room for improvement in the Bucs offense, and they are among the top scoring offenses in the NFL.

No need to worry Joes.
NDOG will come here and let us all know with his infinite knowledge what the problem is. You can be absolutely sure that the problem has absolutely nothing to do with Winston whatsoever in any way at all.
He is blameless in every way. The problems are absolutely everyone else. Winston is the greatest QB of all time and has broken all of the Bucs highly regarded QB records. Who would’ve thought the Bucs QB records would ever be broken.
Winston has literally never thrown a ball that was less than absolute perfection.
There you go Ndog no need to comment. I think I covered it all for you.
October 20th, 2019 at 12:10 pm
He never checks the ball down thx
October 20th, 2019 at 12:11 pm
7-8 blockers for only 4 man rush. Means ME13 and Godwin vs 7 most of the time
October 20th, 2019 at 12:13 pm
Jameis won’t tell you cause he’s not a throw you under the bus kinda guy, but, we’ve had this problems for years. WE HAVE NO SPEED AFTER THE CATCH NOR SEPERATION!!! NONE!! Our corners have been historically slow that’s why you always see them trailing after the catch. I watched every home game since 2014 and we are slow at the W/O position! (Please don’t mention Desean Jackson who runs his own routes and not fight for the ball)
October 20th, 2019 at 12:13 pm
JayMiss was NEVER an accurate passer, so what’s the mystery?
You can’t make chicken salad from chicken $hit.
Never could, never will
Thank God for the bye week.
October 20th, 2019 at 12:21 pm
Expecting Winston to be more crisp in his game overall next week at the Titans.
October 20th, 2019 at 12:29 pm
Yes……quite the mystery.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha….
You kill me Joe!
October 20th, 2019 at 12:30 pm
Jay Miss is pretty close to the 2nd worst starting QB in the NFL. NFL.com ranks him 26th this week. That’s about right, but let’s resign him to a 9 figure contract and set the franchise back another 5 years! Figures is right on the money. Ndog, with his vast football knowledge, will set us all straight.
October 20th, 2019 at 12:30 pm
BA and Dirk both depend on long developing routes. Screen passes , slants and dump offs would pump those numbers up.
October 20th, 2019 at 12:31 pm
Buc 37
More crisp?
5 int and 2 fumbles.
Yes, let’s all pray he “more crisp” next game.
October 20th, 2019 at 12:32 pm
The answer is simple it’s everything. The line is not giving enough time to make good decisions or make accurate throws, the receivers are not getting open, the plays are to long developing and absolutely the QB is missing guys that are more open. Last week for example there was open play in particular that Scotty Miller was WIDE OPEN for a 20 plus yard gain on a skinny post and the QB threw a completion to covered OJ Howard. Now it was a completion and was a quick throw so who knows why the ball went there. First read in progression, bad read, rushing because of perceived pressure? Who knows but one thing is for sure once ALL of these things get cleaned up it will still be the only part of the team that’s worth a crap. The problem is the defense and we have had like 13 draft picks over the past two years and it still sucks that’s what I’m focused on.
October 20th, 2019 at 12:33 pm
Pretty sure some of the same Freeman supporters are on here supporting Winston until the end. They already have almost identical stats TD vs. INT anyway. All Winston has to do is go to another team and turn the ball over another half dozen times. Then fail to make it in the CFL the a decade of wasted QBs will be complete.
October 20th, 2019 at 12:36 pm
everything is jameis fault…. made up climate crisis to the cure for cancer it’s all on young jameis. I forgot that the bucs were a model franchise that was known for consistency and a post season streak prior to jameis arrival. oh wait….

It seems Glazers are selling Manchester United. Hopefully that will help us
October 20th, 2019 at 12:49 pm
Man the Jameis apologists at this point are worse then domestic violence victims. I used to be an apologist but the dude has not gotten better since college. I have seen enough we can get a cheap rookie in here to develop that has a chance of getting better then 30+ million for a QB that will blow every 3-4 games.
October 20th, 2019 at 12:53 pm
Hopefully the glazers sell the Bucs so we can get someone in here that knows how to run a nfl team an not a soccer team
October 20th, 2019 at 1:02 pm
Sounds like a very complex stat with a lot of factors involved. Have to figure with a complex stat like that there isn’t a simple answer(like WRs not getting separation) & it’s a mix of many reasons.
October 20th, 2019 at 1:10 pm
IN the NFL rarely is a WR “open”…the good QB throw before they are open and to the spot they will be…
October 20th, 2019 at 1:16 pm
My biggest concern about this offense is the other stat that Joe has brought up before about time of pass release. This Arians offense was suppose to feature a QB with quick release times and last I saw Winston was not running it as fast as expected.
So what’s the holdup? Is Winston struggling to run it the way they want or is has the offense been adjusted for this team? It darn sure didn’t look like a quick release offense last week…..or is Winston just not got a good handle on it yet?
That timing stat might be a good guage to see if Winston gets to a point where he is running it quicker. Maybe Jamies is still learning the system and we see improvement once he gets it. Sounds as good as anything to close ng some hope to from a desperate Buc fan likely self.
October 20th, 2019 at 1:20 pm
Sounds like we are just getting outplayed. But we are in a new system and have a terrible schedule on the road way too much. Good teams stay patient and don’t panic. Let the season play out.

Trade for Vic Beasley. We need a 3rd receiver to step up. It’s simple.
If your keeping TE , RB to block the receivers 1,2,3 have to create space. Who ever is blocking must block not pretend like Donovan.
In defense … Bowles needs to stop bs. Simplify the scheme. Don’t blitz if your Guys can’t cover. And if you blitz you better get home. So trade for pash rusher that can do it. Not Carl Nassib , gholston.
I’m tired of pretending…. this player that player will do a 360. Hargreaves , Ryan Smith. Dotson, Peyton etc
We know damn well this players are not good.
There’s two right tackles free agents. Better than josh wells , Dotson. Those are
Schraeder And Parnell. So I don’t get this non sense. Eric berry will play better than steward. Bad personnel decisions. Like Jpp. That contract should of Been done right after his accident.
I would resign kwon. Draft Allen. Release jpp. Trade a TE and 3rd for Ford or Clark.
October 20th, 2019 at 2:30 pm
Winston just threw another pic !!
Joe will never put blame on Winston he seen on great gane in college and thinks he is the best thing to come out in years. One thing is for fact JW is inconsistent and never had changed. You get poor results with a QB like that
Jamies doesn’t throw pics we could have won 2-3 games bottom line. He gave us no chance cause boneheaded plays

If only we could combine Monken’s Between The 20’s Offense and Leftwich’s Red Zone Offense we’d be golden.
October 20th, 2019 at 2:49 pm
@The Truth……That is a excellent bottom line.
-vs San Fran Winston had the ball in his hands with a chance for a final game winning drive. He lasts one play and throws a pick.
-in London the offense starts slow and when they finally find a rythum and drive the ball Winston fumbles twice back to back and surrenders points. This is a game that could of been won in a similar way to the first Panthers game. Make it a one score game instead of fumbling & that game is likely a one score game in the fourth quarter with a chance to win. Instead we trailed 2 scores for the rest of it.
Of course you could point to others places to blame and that’s fare but the QB is a problem as well. Deflecting blame to other areas does not take away from poor QB play.
October 20th, 2019 at 2:56 pm
If we get better QB play we get a chance to go on a game winning drive vs San Fran. & We get points instead of fumbles against the Panters and play a higher game(perhaps we don’t get a first play pick too which cost us 3).
With better QB play we probably win one of them games. That’s just a fact that the nugglers don’t admitt.
October 20th, 2019 at 3:06 pm
Our offense sucks. How can devlin hodges win a dang gamn but jamies cant?
October 20th, 2019 at 3:09 pm
Ndog … “The problem is the defense and we have had like 13 draft picks over the past two years and it still sucks that’s what I’m focused on.”
Et tu Brute? So THE PROBLEM is exclusively THE DEFENSE huh? Interesting Ndog, and has me wondering if you even read the article above. It says … Jameis “Expected Completion Percentage has been 59.2 percent, per NextGen data. That rate is second worst in the NFL”.
Did you conveniently overlook the words ‘SECOND WORST IN THE NFL’? And oh ya, also overlook the fact that while Jameis was earning that honor, OUR DEFENSE WAS SITTING ON THE BENCH? Did you miss that Mike Evans is catching balls this year at a 49.1% rate? That Howard & Brate TOGETHER have only been targeted 32 times in 6 games? That Perriman, Miller. Wilson & Watson TOGETHER have only been targeted 34 times in 6 games, and have a TOTAL of 10 catches among them?
Or maybe you missed the fact that Winston has already been sacked 25 times in only 6 games, on track for a record 70 sacks this season? The NFL ALL-TIME record for that gem is held by David Carr … sacked 76 times in 2002 … with Randall Cunningham not far behind at 72 sacks taken in 1986. Wow, Jameis would hold 3rd place in the category all by himself if this continues.
And as far as draft picks in the last 2 years go, Bucs have had 16 not 13. Five of those 16 were used on offense & S/Ts, so 11 went to defense. Of those 11, a full 6 went to the Secondary, 2 to the LB group, and 5 to the DLine. Looks like 7 of that group of 11 are starters now (or will be shortly), 1 is injured (Cichy), 1 is on the PS (Beckner) and 2 others (Stewart & Nelson) are part-timers. Their biggest problem is that the majority are in skill positions that need EXPERIENCE to be successful. And that EXPERIENCE is gained through being on the field in games. And yes, through making mistakes, but learning from those mistakes. And when your entire Secondary is ALL new in the last 2 years, there’ll be a LOT of mistakes made. But they’ll learn. Can you say the same for Jameis in his FIFTH year?
October 20th, 2019 at 3:18 pm
Joe please stop trying to justify jameis … please … that’s enough …. jameis sucks he’s a average QB at best … your constantly reaching … looking for crap to justify jameis and trying to feed the fans crap to join your jameis cult … so you find this crap about the recievers are to blame for jameis woes … your really that much of a fan of jameis to throw the receivers under the bus for jameis … lol thank god your not a teammate of these guys
October 20th, 2019 at 3:19 pm
We have no idea what Bucs team we’ll see/listen to in Nashville this Sunday. I hope the players and coaches will all get on the same page. Wouldn’t hurt to see a few creative bootleg options and 2-minute drills called. Winston can execute them. No reason why the Bucs can’t win this one and a bunch of the others left on the schedule.
October 20th, 2019 at 3:24 pm
#1bucsfan the glazers own the team they don’t run what’s going on … that’s why they pay for a front office … the glazers have done everything to try to win … they have spent millions on millions on extending these players the coaches want on the team … if the glazers are to blame for anything it’s believing in the GMs the coaches that are incompetent… so don’t blame the glazers … they are top notch in my book as far as owners … they certainly are not Daniel Snyder’s of the world or Jerry Jones of the world where they are constantly wanting media attention … the glazers do not need to sell the team … they are great owners

Aaron Rodgers sucks
October 20th, 2019 at 4:32 pm
The most interesting thing about the Bucs not playing today is watching other teams quarterbacks and how they run their offenses. I saw several plays today made by Matt Stanford and Kirk Cousins where they were under a lot of pressure in the pocket, similar pressure where Jameis has taken sacks. My observations are they step up in the pocket and there are crossing routes underneath that are safe throws. Sorry but under same types of pressure Winston is holding the ball and looking downfield instead of moving forward and throwing a 6-8 yard pass to a TE or 3rd wideout running over the middle. He’s just a step slower in being decisive. The defenses know if they put pressure on him he isn’t going to run. Offense has to be sped up you don’t get clean pockets and time to always throw downfield. Jameis is amongst the worst quarterbacks under pressure with outside pass rushers as long as he continues to hold the ball as long as he does
October 20th, 2019 at 5:07 pm
Saints just gave up a ST touchdown on a kickoff. Missed opportunity?
I hope Bruce is paying good attention.
ST is has been a funny area. We make too many mistakes but we have made quite a few splash plays. Made one last week. Several in that lousy weather Thurs Night game……And I count that one play that was botched by the refs.
I’ll be happy with the coaching job if they can just limit the mastakes. Til then overall disappointed.

O-line struggling!
Play-calling?
Vision and instincts, or lack of.
Drops.
The problem is, it’s been this way for a while now. At some point, you have to look objectively at the common denominator.
It’s easy to point at the defense and say it’s flawed. Most expected that. What has become of the offense?

October 20th, 2019 at 5:53 pm
Yes Jameis does make mistakes but I think there would be a lot less mistakes if receivers could get separation and the o line could at least give Jamies league average time to make a decision.

We have become the 5th highest scoring team in football is what we have become. But I guess that sucks right?
Meanwhile we are allowing the 3rd most points in the NFL on defense but I know I know it’s the QBs fault we suck.

Ndog- “objectively” is the key word.
We’re 2-4 right?! “Top-ranked NFC offense” right?! Last year 2nd or 3rd overall on offense? Don’t be deceived by the stats. Watching this team tells the tale
I’m not saying it’s the qb’s fault, I’m saying he is PART of the problem.
We KNEW the defense would struggle. Objectively, most every fan thought the offense would improve. After watching the games, does this offense look “improved”?!
October 20th, 2019 at 6:58 pm
When my eyes look at the stat sheet Jameis is a pretty good QB
When my eyes watch Jameis in passing situations he looks like a pretty bad QB
October 20th, 2019 at 7:01 pm
It’s always been hard to evaluate Jameis’s potential because he has always played on bad teams coached by morons. That being said, he still makes boneheaded decisions. At the current rate, I don’t see him coming back next year.
October 20th, 2019 at 7:01 pm
How does a first year GM with NO experience build a 6-0 team that looks competitive every week and the last 2 clowns we’ve had at GM seem to crap the bed every year???!!!??
October 20th, 2019 at 7:01 pm
Ndog, why can’t Jay Miss get us a lot of early leads in games? Why is he always playing from behind and padding his stats in that situation?
The only number that matter is wins and losses and Jay Miss is an absolute failure in that arena.
October 20th, 2019 at 7:12 pm
Bucsfanman
The thing is, last year dirks offense was top 3 in YARDS, and outside the top ten altogether in POINTS. This year the Bucs are the third highest scoring team in the NFL, leading the NFC with 28 ppg. The Bucs are 2-4 because the defense allows more than that every single week.
Simple.
But it’s the QB. If we could just get a guy in here that leads the offense to being the first or even second ranked offense in Points scored, we’d really be cooking and the Bucs would start magically winning……. Top 3 points scored is just not good enough amirite?
October 20th, 2019 at 7:13 pm
D-Rome
Winston threw 4 ints and had 2 fumbles … right?
October 20th, 2019 at 7:19 pm
PriMech- I know the stats. And, I have stated that it is “everything”, not just the QB.
WATCHING the games, is or isn’t Jameis PART of the problem? QB is not exempt from TEAM criticisms.
It is well known that the defense sucks. WELL KNOWN!
October 20th, 2019 at 7:23 pm
But I thought we had an “excellent” receiving corp. Let’s just hope the GM is not as dumb as a “donkey”in next years draft and draft “Burro” with the first round pick in an attempt to replace the “jack arse” that we have at QB today.
October 20th, 2019 at 7:24 pm
Turnover stats have been well documented and are a KNOWN CONTRIBUTOR to TEAM failure. This fact is not even debatable.
Jameis is, in fact, a CONTRIBUTOR to the team losses and 2-4.
This statement applies across the whole team. As stated.
October 20th, 2019 at 7:27 pm
Ryan Tannellhill warming up for the bucs sorry secordary.
October 20th, 2019 at 7:28 pm
Its leftwich…but all of the Jamies haters want to continue banging the table that he is the problem despite him STILL not having a good team around him.
I am lost for words on the team Arians is leading…and its all because leftwich is calling plays. I still haven’t figured out why the corners are playing so soft and scared. I believe bowles will get that fixed sooner than later because he is actually a proven coordinator on his side of the ball unlike Leftwich.
ARIANS NEEDS OT BE CALLING THE PLAYS OR THIS SEASON IS OVER!!!!
October 20th, 2019 at 7:38 pm
Bill Walsh could be calling the plays and Buddy freakin Ryan could be the DC and it would not matter. Team needs a roster over haul…. simply lacks talent.
October 20th, 2019 at 7:43 pm
No, it can’t be Leftwich’s fault.
He’s black and Jameis stated that because of that he relates better with him.
There simply must be a better excuse.
October 20th, 2019 at 7:43 pm

Back up quarterbacks winning a lot of games this year.
October 20th, 2019 at 7:46 pm
Bill Walsh could BA calling plays and BUDDY RYAN could be the DC and it would not matter…..roster needs a major over haul.
October 20th, 2019 at 7:54 pm
Bucsfanman is totally right. Yes there are a lot of problems and QB is one of…….And you can easily argue it’s the biggest problem because of how important the position is.
Forget the stats just look at the games. If we are talking QB problems we look the 9ers & London games…….wanna talk secondary look at Giants & Rams games(among others)……OL problems look at Saints/London. Kicking look at Giants.
What does all that mean? It mean QB has been a major contributing factor in two losses this year. Just like other areas of the game it’s unacceptable……And with our QB problem the result is excessive amounts of turnovers……….And turnovers are one of the biggest difference between winning and losing in the NFL. At least its been that way for the last hundred years.
October 20th, 2019 at 8:09 pm
And the term of “Winston haters” can be pretty much thrown out the window at this point……….Now your not getting just haters complaining about the QB…….Now it’s most of the fanbase. Even a lot of Winston’s most staunch defenders and biggest fans are trading their minds. I keep hearing the phrase “I can’t defend him any more”
October 20th, 2019 at 8:18 pm
Who are we drafting next year? We know we’re probably picking top 7….im going QB Jacob Eason (franchise JW for the ease in) then all corners after that!!!
Got to find some gotdang coners!!!!
October 20th, 2019 at 8:35 pm
Dalvin Cook runs for 142 yds today….great help to his QB in passing game. Thanks Jason, for passing on Dalvin, who is also pretty good blocker in pass protect…
Good news! We still have Peyton Barber (2 yd average) and Ronald Jones. For some reason, probably blocking issues, seem to be preventing RJ being on field enough.
Absent of running game threat, no play-action options, and opposing D’s can TEE-off w/pass-rush. And OJ, drafted instead of Dalvin, has developed brick hands. And ironically, since we have no run game, OJ has to be used as blocker more than the pass catching TE, which is why he was drafted…..
Oh well. JW3 will land somewhere else next year, probably as backup. If on a team with decent RB, O-line and D, will be interesting to see if JW3 continues his mental breakdowns.
With a rookie QB, Fans better get used to the “Bucs of old” with 10-17 points a game. And with this Bucs D, giving up 302 passing yds/game……youza!

We had great mis-direction play-calling vs Rams, then reverted back to same ole. Why???
Vs Stinking panthers, lil’ ole me, called that the first pass would be to Evans, based on the last game where he was shut-out. Was that on Jameis decision or the first option in progression? Don’t know….but crap, the stinking panthers were expecting Evans to get that pass. Not sure if pass was off-target, or Evans ran sloppy route ….compounding the turnover, we never recovered on offense, and JW3 was jittery the rest of game….
Still confounded why we march Barber out there on the first drive every game, given his production vs RJ…..I love Barber toughness, but RJ is more of a threat.
Time for BA to shake it up! And why the hell are we not targeting Brate/Oj more, vs Miller? incredibly frustrating…..
Season is still salvageable…..win against Titans is critical. Tannehill is sneaky decent, but injury-prone. I expect to see a mobile Mariotta enter the game by 4Q. Hopefully Bowles has a plan for the mobility of both QB’s. Lord knows we cannot stop the pass…..
And I am still waiting for Devin White to make an impact…..Hopefully this bye week will change his results.

Adam humphries is the missing piece to our offense.

I would love Tom Moore calling the offense calls.

ENOUGH of this “one of the highest scoring teams in the NFL” garbage.
Rank our scoring against the rest of the league for 1ST HALF POINTS.
We do so much of our scoring in the 2nd half in garbage time.
I’m also curious where we rank against the league in scoring if you remove the Rams game. My guess is we aren’t that great.

@BucsBandit….points still matter, albeit when the game is competitive. Trash points – who cares? Agree about garbage yardage crap.
Take away the idiot JW3 turnovers…. JW3 does deliver offensive points on the board.
The RED HERRING is our DEFENSE. Bucs had to outscore RAMS w 55pts…..that will never happen again. or this year.
So lets excoriate JW3 all day, for his erratic plays – he earned it! But at least, please….point some fingers at our Defense….Any QB, rookie or JW3, has to score at least 30 pts a game, for Bucs to win any game, going forward….

No Sht anyone with any football knowledge understands where 70 percent of Winstons intake come from !!!

RedZone,
No doubt the Defense sucks. But so many of those points are when the game isn’t competitive, and that’s my point. It’s a very misleading stat to make it out like we have this high scoring offense yet our D is the only reason Jameis isn’t winning nearly every game or something.
The OPPOSITE is true. Jameis Winston makes our Defense WORSE. In the first half of games he often puts our D in a terrible position. His lack of sustained drives to allow our D to stay on the bench and rest up, his turnovers giving the other team a short field and putting our D in a bad position; and demoralizing them when the other team often turns that short field into a TD. Winston often hands the opposing team early MOMENTUM which makes a massive difference in football.
Jameis Winston is the WORST PLAYER on our Defense. He hurts our Defense more than anything. Anyone that doesn’t ‘get it’ isn’t paying attention to the games.

Why is this a surprise? Evans doesn’t separate. He never has. He’s bigger than everyone and is very good at making contested catches. The play calling has been abysmal. We rarely “scheme” anyone open. Other teams have people open all the time.
I know…. it takes time leftwich is new at this. I just can’t believe that this is how BA chose to evaluate Jameis.

@BucsBandit… your position, seems to be that JW3 is the problem for Bucs winning season.
OK – JW3 has earned his share of the problems….I am JW3 fan, and find myself throwing proverbial bricks at my HDTV, when JW3 has his mental breakdowns, leading to interceptions or fumbles…..no defense of JW3. Except that he is jittery, from zero O-line protection, and big hits.
(imaging getting pancaked by 300lb dude —it f-n hurts!)
What about the games, when Bucs are leading in late Q4, and our D craps the bed? Is that JW3 fault? Bucs D is an absolute Matador D —a swinging curtain for RBs….
Every Opposing “Backup QB” in league, earns serious money, when competing against the Bucs D…. Check the stats!!! What the hell, does that say about our D?
is Bucco Bruce the answer? For JW3? Is Todd Bowls the answer for our D?
I still think the season is salvageable….stay tuned….

The receivers and team have let Jameis down his whole career. Free Jameis from this mess. In Jameis I Trust! Go Bucs! Great stat that Jameis is overachieving.

JW’s completion percentage is HIGHER than his expected completion percentage … MANY QBs are the exact opposite, with their actual completion percentage LOWER than their expected completion percentage … what that means is that Jameis is MORE ACCURATE than them.
NextGen Stats aren’t rocket-science; they’re relatively straight-forward.
ANY QB who has a higher comp % than expected comp % is an accurate passer, which JW is, despite fans who know nothing saying otherwise … back in 2017, as a 23 year old with a jacked throwing shoulder he was 2nd in the entire NFL in tight window comp %. JW’s NEVER been an inaccurate QB when one examines the Passing +- stat or the NextGen stats.

Its another example of what we already know….his talent is only matched by his knack for costly turnovers. He’s literally Jay Cutler/Vinny Testervarde…..obviously talented players that stayed in the league but never a cornerstone of any winning franchise.

25 passes to tight ends this year, if your not going use them trade one!
October 21st, 2019 at 9:18 am
NextGen is fine, but take it with a grain of salt. It’s only as good as the model someone judges about what makes a pass catchable, etc. (and what they don’t put in the equation can be just as important)
Garbage in, garbage out.

@RedZone
Go ahead and list all the games this year in which our D has blown a 4th quarter lead… actually, I’ll save you the time…
The Giants game has been the only game in which our D folded after Jameis got them a lead. That’s it.
In all the other games (much like Jameis’ previous seasons) he doesn’t establish early leads and scoring. His turnovers give the opposing team a short field and tires out our Defense. We’re almost always ‘chasing’ other teams after they build leads on us. This why we have so many garbage time stats when the game is already out of reach.
Our D is very weak, don’t get me wrong. BUT… Winston puts them in a bad position time and time again.
October 21st, 2019 at 2:33 pm
^ Yup, and that Giants game is all that stands in the way of the team being 3-3 and having a better record than the Eagles and the same record as the Bears, too teams many thought would make the Super Bowl this year.

I think we need to go back to a 4 3 defense and build the d line again. This 3 4 defense is not working with the type of players we have. Devin White is a 4 3 linebacker and David. Then we can have a real pass rush. I think we should keep Jamies and keep building the defense and offensive line. It doesn’t make sense to go get a quarterback and put him in the same position Jamies was put in . And that’s expecting him to win with a bad defense and no running game at all witch I think that RoJo is good but he’s not getting enough carries. Teams are running the ball at least 20 to 25 times a game now and I haven’t heard anything about those teams not trusting their quarterback. We are the only team that gets asked that question. And we are a losing team lol lol lol . Our coaches are ask that question and then the next game they want to prove that they do trust him and throw the ball 45 or 50 times. That’s the reason why RoJo is not going to run the ball!!!!
October 21st, 2019 at 3:05 pm
Look how the 49ers play every game. They run the ball more than every body in the NFL. And no one ask them do they trust their quarterback. He haven’t thrown the ball 35 to 40 times yet but if Jamies don’t throw the ball 35 or 45 times it’s a problem. When the Saints stop throwing the ball that much they have been a winning team since. Why can’t yall understand balance football cause that’s how you win . You run the ball 20 or 25 times a game and throw 28 or 35 times and play good defense and we will be back on top !!!!

Oneilbucs,
As soon as they cut Winston loose they’ll have free cap space to do the following:
1. Sign the best free agent cornerback in the league.
2. Sign one or more of the best free agent Offensive Linemen in the league.
3. Sign one or more solid DEs or DTs depending on what they do with JPPs contract and others.
So you see, getting rid of Winston will give this team the ability to fill so many holes that the team currently has.
And THAT is reason #2,431 why they need to move on from Winston.
