Goose Egg
October 6th, 2019Joe has already touched on this but this is simply amazing.
Mike Evans, one of the best wide receivers in the game and a guy flirting with Hall of Fame numbers, had zero yards receiving today.
That’s zero. Nada. None. Zippo.
Goose egg.
Evans was targeted three times. Why so few?
Well, sometimes you have to doff your cap to the other team. When Evans is on the field, the Saints played defense. Boy did they play defense.
It was clear from early in the game, the Saints made a concerted effort to shut down Evans. And you can’t do better than pitching a shutout on one of the best receivers in the game.
In his postgame pressure, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, said the Saints haunted Evans on virtually every play. Jameis said the Saints had a “cloud” on Evans, meaning he was being tailed by at least one defensive back with help just behind.
Often, Jameis said, Evans was double-covered.
Now while watching the game high above the turf of the Superdome (think as if you are watching an Oklahoma State basketball home game where the camera appears to be in the rafters), there were a few times Evans did get open. Sadly for Evans, this often happened when Jameis was either fighting for his life not to go down with a sack, or when Jameis was scrambling and apparently he didn’t see Evans.
So it is time for Bucco Bruce Arians to go to the laboratory and figure out ways to get Evans open. If Evans got shut down by an amoeba-like defense today, you can bet your last bottle of Bud Light Evans will see the same type of defense again, maybe as quick as next Sunday in London.

Jay miss holds the ball too long joe.
I saw a three man rush where the DE got to the ATM in 2 seconds. No nfl quarterback especially elite franchise quarterbacks hold the ball for 2 seconds.
If mike isn’t open Jay Miss should throw the ball up and give Mike a chance….oh wait…. no if Jay miss protects the ball and doesn’t turn it over then…..oh wait
No no if Jay miss just runs the bal better……oh wait!

Leftwich seems to be a jekyll and hyde Offensive coordinator.
Giants 1st half > great
Giants 2nd half > ugh
Rams > great
Saints > ugh
Panthers > ?

Nawl….
The saints don’t have a pass rush
They have 4 Patrick Peterson’s in their backfield….
None of their DBs give up catches….just ask Mike Evans

Contrast what happened to Evans with our secondary coverage. Did Joe or anyone else see N.O. QBs go through progressions on their throws? MAYBE 2-3 times the entire game! They would call the play, step up to the line and usually hit their primary receiver. The biggest decisions they were forced into was WHICH receiver did they want to throw it to. We probably had about 5 contested throws the whole game. Nearly every throw that Jameis made was into tight coverage while under pressure. Having 13 run out and ups all day isn’t a recipient for success. Poor play calling on offense and NO secondary= disaster.

Holy cow
Da postman is talking about blind loyalty to 813
And is saying Leftwich is dr jeckle and mr Hyde
This is hilarious.
😂
I can’t stop laughing.
If da postman didn’t have a double standard he would have no standards at all.
You are killing me Holmes

Consider what you just said.. Winston holds the ball fo 2 seconds vs a 3 man pass rush…. Hmm.. seems like vs a 3 man pass rush an NFL Oline should be able to provide a minimum of 2 seconds.. Also, for the record, the ELITE QB’s release the ball at @ 2.5s. There are times Winston looks like he is holding the ball too long, but when you watch the all 22 you will see something different. The route trees the Bucs receivers are running are seriously perplexing.
The biggest issue is that Arians wants to prove to Winston, that he doesn’t have to do too much to win games. With this team, that is not the case. Winston has to play exceptional, elite for this team to be competitive and the defense must create turnovers. Until this defense can stop the pass, probably will be ranked 32nd after this week, the ONLY way this team can win is ELITE QB play and turnovers on defense.
All being said, the Saints defense is no joke this year. Thats a Super Bowl team over there.

Why target Scotty Miller? Missed all the pre-season. Stop with establishing the run. It is a passing league. Even I knew when the Bucs were throwing. Mix it up on 1st down.

Bird,
I realize you are on the slow bus so I will explain it to you like Lucy did to Ricky. If you think those game plans were all A+ you may suffer some form of mental disorder. Even Leftwich’s boss wasn’t happy but Bird in la la land is.

Where was the JW jump pass throw to Evans? He is good for 4-5 of them a game.
