Growing Jameis
October 3rd, 2019For the past 10 quarters of football, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, has been one of the hottest quarterbacks in the NFL.
Perhaps none is hotter.
So what has happened since halftime of the game in Carolina that has seen Bad Jameis morph into Good Jameis? In the opening game Jameis was hot garbage, one of his worst in the NFL. The first half of the second game, Jameis was, well, meh. Ever since he’s been a different quarterback.
So yesterday, Bucco Bruce Arians was asked if he could put a finger on why Jameis has played so much better since halftime of the Carolina win.
It’s a combination of things, Arians believes.
“He’s just growing in the offense – more and more repetitions and more things you see on film in games – it’s just a natural growth process,” Arians said. “He might be ahead of the curve for where I thought maybe he would be.
“He’s just playing really, really well right now.”
This is interesting about how Jameis may be ahead of the learning curve. By comparison, Joe looked at what Carson Palmer did his first season with Arians in Arizona.
For the first half of the season, Palmer was barely average. He had only one game (the season opener) in the first seven games where he had more touchdowns than picks. But beginning in that eighth game, it seemed it all began to click for Palmer. In the final nine games, Palmer had only one clunker of an outing.
If Jameis really is ahead of the learning curve, that is a very good sign for the Bucs.

Would not have happened without QB Whisperer, BA. BA also is responsible for transformation of our Old OL under Clueless Warhop to what you saw in our victory over the Rams in their own stadium, protecting Jameis at long last like he always should have been and opening up holes for our same RBs from last year to shine this year! You know if we can beat the NFC Champions in their own stadium, we can beat any NFL Team anywhere, and this can be the year we make the playoffs and take over first place in our own Division.

Buttsore, El Buco Estpido, MAGA Clown, where y’all at idiots. Suck it haters.

Not sure what’s more impressive his recent work on the field or off?
He opened his second Dream Room and visited some incarcerated youth along with 10 of his teammates.

BA is so winning right now…. Today. In the perhaps most negative (or keep it real trash talk allegedly) summer of all time surrounding this team and talent was a huge question BA somehow have this team in great position.
Qb is playing top 5 elite ball
We have a above average run game
We finally have the oline playing without blindfolds
We have a pass rush without a elite DE E Ford
Suh so far is 1000 better than GMC ever could of been
We bench VH3 and MJ Stewart we will be auto better
Basically the same team last year we are better. It’s the BA

I’m not gonna say shizzle, because I’m afraid of jinxing the team. But yeah! =D

He’s 4 games into his audition and so far the needle has been pointing up.

I know I had essentially written off Jameis, not because I ever hated him, but I just didn’t believe his decision making was ever going to improve. It sure seems like I was wrong. The way he’s playing now is all I ever wanted to see. More than happy to admit I was wrong about the man. Keep it up!!

Bench Hargreaves? The guy had a pick 6 and a game saving tackle in prime time didn’t he?
October 3rd, 2019 at 6:45 am
Clean house, he also got burnt several times for long gains, and a TD. Short and slower than most other starting DB’s. He has looked much improved so far this season. Hope he keeps getting better. And keeps the injury bug at bay.

It just takes time. Patience for us fans is key. We actually have a coaching staff that develops players which is great but it’s a new system an terminology on both sides of the ball so it’s going to take some time for everyone to learn an get on the same page. It’s happening a little bit sooner than I thought which is great. I figured we would be hitting on all cylinders come week 8. This team has me excited hopefully they don’t pull a traditional Bucs an get embarrassed this Sunday. GO BUCS #endthedrought

Jameis and the Bucs are looking a lot better. Hopefully that win was something they can grow on. What will be really interesting is how will Jameis and the Bucs respond this week. 1st place in the division on the line, division rival, will Jameis handle the increased pressure, stay calm and play well or will he panic and make dumb decisions?

I also agree that Hargraves eventually needs to be replaced. We don’t have anyone better at the moment but he is the go to target when opposing teams need a first down or a big play. Once in a while he makes a nice play but normally he makes a tackle after a gain of 15 on 3rd and 12

Keep it up Jameis…

Winston will soon have as many Super Bowl rings as Carson!! And Super Bowl championships are all that matters.
October 3rd, 2019 at 7:57 am
folks complaining about VHG need to wake up and stop hating….lol…
how many TD’s has he given up?…..1 that i can think of….
he’s learning a new system….he went 3years not being coached or developed properly along with being forced to play in a scheme that didnt fit his skill set by the previous coaching staff…..
VHG will continue to get better, prove his worth and eventually be resigned…..just like JW….
GO BUCS!!!!!

BINGO!!!!!!
if VHG doesnt have a pick6 and hold the #1 WR to 0catches for 0yards in every game folks think he trash…..lol….
NFL WR’s get paid too….
GO BUCS!!!!!!!

Anyone complaining about VHG at this point is an obvious FSU fanboy or doesn’t understand defensive coverages/assignments. It was well explained on the Scuttlebucs podcast. A few of those plays he looked like he got beat deep up the middle were in cover 4. Deep passes completed over the middle are almost never a CB fault. Folks need to educate themselves before spatting garbage looking foolish.
Same with Vea. Anyone still griping about not picking Injury ridden James over Vea, doesn’t understand football or another fan boy of that garbage organization they call Florida State.
Go Bucs! Go Gators!

Once again, But get ready Joe. He is at the top of the Cheetah coaster at Busch Gardens and the drop is coming soon. His hands will be rapidly going up in the air…without the football. Bad first game. Game manager in game two. Good first half in game three. Great game four. The real Apples McGoo will soon be making an appearance
October 3rd, 2019 at 8:28 am
Leftwich is also growing as a play caller. Leftwich’s second half against the Giants in The Great Collapse at RayJay was a significant contributor to the Bucs’ failure.
All would have been forgiven if Gay could have hit the extra point lenght game winner. Everyone choked, Everyone.
Except Jameis who hit Evans with that beautiful deep ball.
Leftwich learned and to his credit, his game against the Rams was one of the best performances by a Bucs OC, ever.

This is what I have been saying all along. It is a process with good coaching. Dirk was not a good teacher and now I am wandering if he is a good coach. After looking at Matt Ryan’s numbers. Problem is we live now in an age of instant production and results rather than letting the process work out. BA knows how to build a team. We have to trust in his system. He has done it multiple times, in Indy and Arizona.
October 3rd, 2019 at 9:08 am
I said it before, I’ll say it again:
The NFC Championship Game is possible.
People may still scoff at me saying that, but it is getting more and more possible. All we have to do is keep improving and make the playoffs. After that, anything is possible.

Theres pittstain with his copy and paste. Hopefully another good game and he can go troll another message board. His dad definitely shouldve swallowed. And yes i said his dad.

Alter Ego is another one of these guys but at least he's manned up and is giving Jameis props for playing well. He doesn't like Jameis at all but he's happy Bucs are winning. Props to Alter Ego.

It usually takes six full regular season weeks for an offense and the QB to completely gel with a new offensive coordinator. Maybe we’re two weeks ahead, maybe there are some hiccups on the horizon, but either way you have to give the team time to mesh with the new coaches and new philosophies and schemes.

@BAFan
“Would not have happened without QB Whisperer, BA.”
Perhaps. But I’m not disagreeing with your observation as much as suggesting that another person deserves the lion’s share of the credit. JW!!!
I’ve been both critical of JW and have praised him. But if you’re honest you have to give credit where credit is due.
On a personal level JW has been through a LOT. Much of it self inflicted…suspensions for off the field activity and pick sixes out the wazoo on the field.
Last season would have broken many if not most people.
Castigated and suspended for truly brain dead activity…watching his backup become the media and fan favorite during his suspension…coming back…struggling and for the first time in his career getting benched. His confidence was assaulted in a major way.
To rebound from all of that is for me at least the most impressive part of the JW story to date.
If JW can just play well for the remainder of the season he will have pulled off a truly impressive “comeback” for his reputation.
Yeah naysayers he hasn’t won enough to call anything a comeback but I still do because his career was on thin ice…with all due respect to DB55.
That which does not kill us makes us stronger. It’s clear now that some folks have reported JW’s demise too soon. He may have had a foot in the grave but give the MAN (no longer a kid) credit for what he has faced down. He appears STRONGER.
At least for me no matter what he does he has my respect for surviving more challenges than any other QB in the league the past five years.

Winston will stay hot if they keep calling those WR screens to Godwin and Howard as well as the screen to Jones, it gives Jameis a release valve and he will learn if he gets a hard pass rush those plays are his best friend. By getting the ball out quickly he gets into a rhythm. The Bucs were hurrying up to the line in the red zone but the officials were too slow at spotting the ball. The more hurry up and faster developing plays are what he needs to become a very confident QB. Once he gets it in his head that he is better when he isn’t holding on to the ball too long he’s gonna finally fulfill his potential
