Relive Shaq’s Forced Fumble

October 1st, 2019

Break down.

This is kind of cool.

The play that sealed the win — when exactly is going up two scores late a bad thing??? — for the Bucs was Shaq Barrett’s (Joe’s going to start calling him “Sack” Barrett if he gets to 10 sacks in New Orleans) late in the game. His forced forced fumbled set up Ndamukong Suh to house a return and put the Rams down on USC’s home turf in the historic Los Angeles Coliseum.

Joe happened to be on the field (near the Rams cheerleaders no less) when the Bucs made that play and the vocal throng of Bucs fans in the opposite end zone went completely bonkers.

And why not? Joe doesn’t think there is a sober person in the continental-48 who dreamed the Bucs would win that game on the road after such an awful choke job against a rookie quarterback making his NFL debut the previous week.

Something called “The Scouting Academy” did a breakdown of how Barrett got loose and charged Rams quarterback Jared Goff, forcing the fumble and allowing Suh to score his second career touchdown.

No one seems to enjoy touchdowns more than big guys.

You can see the video here. It seems from the video that Barrett just has solid fundamentals.

I was part of that crowd going bonkers! So many Bucs fans out here in California yet we can’t fill out Raymond James?!?!

  6. Prague Bucs Fan Says:

Nassib was 1 on 1 with a TE. You’ve got out right beat that dude Carl!

Really didn’t take a lot of tourist photos. Phone battery nearly shot when Joe went to Warner Bros. But here and here and here are some.

Great play… on Nassib, I don’t know for sure, but he likely has contain on that play for the back (Gurley) and may have coverage responsibilities on the TE since the backers are up in the hole/center of the d line… Not sure, but hard to judge without knowing the defensive call.

I thought the same thing when we played the Chargers in 2016. I was simply blown away by how many other Bucs fans live out here. It sounded more like home game than it normally does inside Ray Jay.

I watched it in real time and another thing that jumped at me was the speed of Vita Vea. He was flying down the field to get in there with Suh.

  11. Doctor Stroud Says:

I hope that the surprising number of fans in California doesn’t give Team Glazers any ideas about moving the team there. Sorry, but the Los Angeles Buccaneers does NOT have a nice ring to it!

  12. Rick Says:

Man, that’s also the ideal matchup as well. Vita and Suh doubled, Nassib and Shaq 1v1.

  13. DBBUC Says:

I found it interesting that Suh followed him pretty much on the same path. Pretty smart thing to do.

  14. Brandon Says:

That is a tad different spin than the one I thought I had perfected years ago. Being a shorter DE I would’ve loved to try the “duck under the hands” spin but the finish is identical as he used his outside hand to push off the OT and help him accelerate towards the QB. When I first saw the move I wondered if it was poorly conceived and he was lucky it worked but considering he’s “only” 6’2, i see why it was effective against the taller blockers. A good pass rusher needs many different moves in his arsenal. It looks like Barrett has at least three and that’s two more than most.

  15. unbelievable Says:

@Doctor Stroud – bring em to San Diego then!

Kidding, I don’t want the team to move (though I would LOVE being able to go to games every year again)

  16. SOEbuc Says:

Lmao. And it had to be Suh taking it in. Nice.

    How about the London Buccaneers?

“Joe happened to be on the field (near the Rams cheerleaders no less)”

Why are we not surprised. LMAO The Buc cheerleaders might feel betrayed.

Howard Cosell once interviewed John Lennon there and
John Wayne played football there for USC under different name in ‘20’s

How can a player have 8 sacks in the first 3 games and they not double-team him?
