The Bucs just crapped all over themselves against a bad Giants team with a rookie making his first NFL start.
Anyone still think Todd Bowles is a great defensive coordinator?
Jason Licht and Bucco Bruce Arians should feel ashamed.
Yes, our beloved Buccaneers share the cellar of the NFC South after the Panthers beat Arizona today without Cam Newton and the Falcons lost a close one.
Usually, when superstars play like superstars, great things happen. But not today.
Today was almost Mike Evans’ day. He owned the first half with seven receptions for 146 yards and three touchdowns. And he made the big grab in the fourth quarter to set up what should have been Matt Gay’s game-winning field goal.
Sadly, Gay soiled himself and missed a 34-yarder with time expiring.
Early on, Joe was so impressed that the defense literally beat up Saquon Barkley, with rookie safety delivering the knockout blow that sent Barkley out of the game in the second quarter with an ankle injury. Earlier, Jordan Whitehead came downhill and blistered Barkley, which sent the beastly running back to the trainer’s tent on the Giants’ sidelines.
But overall it was ugly for the Bucs defense. They let the Giants back in the game and got embarrassed by a rookie. Might want to have someone spying the rookie running the ball with the freakin’ game on the line.
Another game ball for Shaq Barrett, who recorded four freakin’ sacks and two strips of Giants rookie QB Daniel Jones. Barrett now has eight sacks on the season. EIGHT!!!
And the Bucs still lost — at home.
It was a dynamite first half by Jameis and a very forgettable second half at the Den of Depression.
Hat tip to Ronald Jones for another confidence-building day with 14 carries for 80 yards.

The two extra points turned out to be huge…but in truth, it was the defense that cost us this game. If they had just played as well in the second half as they did in the first, we would have won.
So far as Winston…I think he had a great game. Yes, he threw a pick, but he also had 3-4 touchdowns (I forget which). I’ll take that every game. He took sacks when he had to. That one pick was an overthrow…all on him. But it is obvious that he is playing much, much smarter overall.

Jameis is not entirely to blame for this loss. However, that pass to Mike Evans at the end was an underthrow if he hits him in stride that is a touchdown. Jameis holding on to the ball too long. Taking coverage sacks because he is afraid to turn over the football. He has not grasped after 4 plus seasons throw the ball away. Franchise Quarterbacks do not lose to rookie QB’s in there first start. Sorry, Jameis is not the answer, but we don’t have the answer on the roster so, play out the string and regroup at QB next year. Mike Evans is this generations Calvin Johnson. Great play on a terrible team. If he had Quality QB throwing him the ball, he would be a superstar and no one would talk about Odell Beckham Jr. Can we please stop settling for Field Goals when you have 13 seconds and 1 time out inside the 20. What a bunch of pathetic losers. How the hell does this team find a way to lose (or try to lose) every week? Life long fan, however, I am really starting to question continuing as a fan. They lost at home, again… against a crappy team whose #1 offensive weapon (Barkley) and best defender (olgatree) went out of game early. Better yet, they make a rookie qb look like an all pro. No matter what, an NFL kicker simply cannot miss a 34 yard kick or an extra point, PERIOD. That is ultimately why we lost. We should have won this game, even as bad as our pass defense played int he second half, we still would have won the game with a decent kicker. The last decent kicker we had here was Bryant and he was run out of town by an idiot coach who was mad that he was hurt and could not kick in the PRESEASON!

Kicker left 5 ptd out there.. Either makes those xps or kick at the end and we win. Having said that… by time he lined up for last kick I already didn’t care. Even if he made it they deserved to lose. Defense choked in second half a few key times while still somehow playing well in between. Offense caped thr bed in 2nd half.. don’t care how many yards.. how many red zone trips and no tds. Just as much to blame. . But tbh I’m just sick of this team in general. Bruce should be absolutely flayed for taking that delay of game penalty after the big catch by Evans- especially with a TO in hand. That the TO and kick the ball from 5 yds closer. I just don’t get it…and don’t tell me the hash mark made any difference in the end. Bruce choked. Bowels choked. Gay choked with the missed FG x extra points. I just can’t do this anymore. It’s not worth it. We are losers, then, now and evermore.

New coaches, same choke job. Back to talking draft in September. This team has no idea how to win.Except for Barrett, defense looked like a Mike Smith defense. Gay is the current kicking fiasco. Nothing ever changes for us fans.

Hate to say this but I am done. So sick of being disappointed by this team. It will be real easy to walk away now and never care again. Just so tired of having my Sunday’s ruined. Im not puttung this on Jameis or the kicker. This one is in the coaches. You got a qb that has shown you that he can run. Yet on 4th and 5 you have no spy or even any defender facing the qb.
Then you have 13 seconds and a timeout inside the 20. At least try something there. Don’t just waste what little you have left to put it on the rookie kicker.
I swear this script is too predictable by now.

BA blew it in the end there. I would have called my last time out after MEs catch, 13 seconds left, take one shot in the end zone, tell Winston to throw it out, no sacks and kick the FG. Probably would have gone through but the closeup replay showed a terrible divot, like me hitting an iron on the golf course, behind the ball….it was a mis-kick, a pure CHOKE.

The bigger question is ‘How can you be up 28-10 at the end of the first half and end up losing 32-31?’ They had the Giants on the ropes and let them wiggle free. Then it bit them in the arse. Offense fell apart, defense fell apart, and S/Ts fell apart. Turns out the Bucs played like most thought they’d play. Mediocrity reigned supreme.

I can’t believe we still can’t fix the kicking position. As a fan this is literally tormenting. That position is literally making it impossible for this team to ever stand a chance in this league.
Don’t wanna overreact. I guess give this idiot one more game. As fans we have tolerated way more kicking problems then necessary.
If I am the Glazer’s I am seriously considering firing the GM solely based on not fixing the kicker position. Once the decision comes to replacing Matt Gay I absolutely would not trust Licht to find a new kicker.

I will not care about blowing a 18 point lead or our QB playing a poor 2nd half. The team played like winners today and got us the win. That kick is routine……We do not have a kicker that can do his job and you will lose games without it.
We lost as a team all because of one guy and that was the kicker. Cost us 6 full points today.

We lost what would have been a gimme win when we took out their number one player in Barkley. However we still found a way to sh!t the bed after having a huge lead going into the half. Our secondary got beat like they stole something. Outside of shaq our D looked like complete crap. Winston needs to learn to stop staring down M.Evans….Godwin and his TE’s were open during each of his sacks when he was trying to go to Evans. Our offense was nearly completely stopped in the second half.

How can you let a QB rush for two TD ?
Offense won the game. Defense lost the game along with Matt gay. DBs were getting beat by who receivers ? Not even a #1.
But I like the fight. The effort. We are one player in defense away. Can it be Ramsey ? Or another pass rusher idk. But Winston played really good.
Giants kept the foot down on passing. Bucs went conservative.

There’s a lot of blame to go around for this loss. Obviously Gay leaving 4 points out there hurts, but this game should have never gotten this close. When the Pats go up by 15-20 at halftime, they step on the throat in the 3rd. We go conservative. That interception by Jameis was so atrocious, yet expected. I can’t wait for the Bucs to draft another QB. At this point I really feel that there is no hope for Jameis. A couple more losses and it’s time to start accumulating draft picks in an attempt to get one of the premier QBs coming out this year or next.

Jay Miss was great in the 1st half when it didn’t matter. Defense stunk in the 2nd half. Leftwich went turtle as well.

We had a good quarterback coming out of college and Jameis and this franchise ruined just like they’ve ruined other players how long before me 13 says he wants to be traded he been in the league a while now we’re turning him into Gerald McCoy and to be honest the Bucks probably should consider trading Mike cuz he’s not going to be here when the bugs are good do like the Dolphins trade away whatever Talent we have and stockpile picks this team is a long way away from winning the offensive line needs repaired secondary still sucks no defensive end and how many players are on a one-year contract and who’s going to want to come here

And Matt Gay is garbage. 2 missed XP and choked on the game deciding kick after the real football players put him in a position to kick a chip shot to win. I hate kickers. Just disgusting.

Pathetic playcalling in the second half and the kicker I knew this since the stupid kicker battle that shouldnt took place to begin with since we already have a kicker and it was Santos but everybody was so impress with the long fieldgoals that forgot that we have an offense that can move the ball to the redzone. We dont need a kicker that cant kick extra points or 20 to 40 yards fieldgoals.

Our Franchise QB disappeared in the Second half. He did drive the team down- and put the game in the Kickers hands. Never a good Idea.

We won the first half. Sitting on a first half lead is an invitation for opposition
to win the game. After the first couple of scores by Giants. We had our chances
to score points but failed. Jameis definitely cooled off in the second half. HE had a INT and a couple of key passes he missed by several yards. Evans was wide open a short distance away from Perriman on the pass Jameis threw well behind Perriman. I question the motion play to Brate toward the end. We probable have
5 people with quicker feet to make something happen on that play.
No question Gay’s misses hurt and ended up being the difference in the game.
But IMO, Jameis could have and should have played better in the second half.
THere is a reason his QB rating dropped 35 points from his near perfect
first half. He took sacks he shouldn’t have and some of his key passes were off target. You have to play to WIN the game the entire game. He did not play with enough poise and confidence most of the second half.

In the first half, we were playing to win. In the second half, we played to not lose. What happens when you play to not lose? You lose.
I lived in KC in the 90’s. The Chiefs had an OC named Paul Hackett. This was his philosophy. Week after week the Chiefs would jump out to a big lead in the first half and then get all conservative and let it slip away in the second. Ruined the last years of Joe Montana and Marty Schottenheimer’s careers. I would get so frustrated, I couldn’t breathe.
If this is how it’s gonna be here, they will lose me. I can’t deal with that again. I love football, love Tampa, but I can’t deal with that insanity.

One of the things the Bucs do really well is blow games. This game should have been put away in the 3rd quarter with another touchdown to get to 35 points but before that could happen they gave up that easy touchdown to Engram. That run down the sideline gave NY the confidence they could punch back at the Bucs and that Tampa is a mentally weak team. The play call to Brate was terrible, he is really slow and couldn’t make anyone miss. If that play goes to Howard or Godwin they get the yardage. This kicker isn’t a pro, any pro kicker makes those chip shots. Winston started fast and went cold after halftime. Winston did enough to win but Daniel Jones was more impressive, he made some great throws while under pressure. Jameis made good throws but when pressured he was off target or indecisive. Only the Bucs could physically outplay another team but lose because of their mistakes.

I mentioned under a previous post that this was a game the Bucs typically lost during the last 15 years or so. Jameis kept his head out of his a$$ and actually played well, but the defense made Jones look like the second coming of Marino. This team has a lot of work and a lot of growing to do before they get any respect. It’s too early to advocate burning this whole thing to the ground, but this was a disgusting loss.
