Fire!
September 18th, 2019Bucco Bruce Arians isn’t playing with fire. But he damn sure will use a flame if this gets out of hand.
Among the many things Arians discussed yesterday was Bucs opponents.
Now things in the early weeks of the season seem to be falling the Bucs’ way. Drew Brees will miss the Bucs-Saints game in two weeks with an injured thumb and perhaps, the second matchup between the two division rivals (Nov. 17) is in doubt for the future Hall of Fame quarterback.
Cam Newton is hurt (again) and he may not play against the Bucs when the two teams meet in London in three weeks.
And of course, this week’s opponent, the Giants, benched their two-time Super Bowl MVP quarterback in favor of rookie Daniel Jones. He will make his first start Sunday at the Den of Depression.
So Arians was asked if his players may be gaining confidence if not extra motivation knowing the road is being paved for the Bucs to potentially make a run?
Arians said he would stomp on any such thoughts.
“If there is, I’m going to put a match to it,” Arians said. “Because it’s [about] this week. You can’t think about all that stuff because Teddy Bridgewater is a hell of a player and there’s other really good players in this league.
“You take care of today’s business – not Sunday’s – just today’s. Tomorrow, hopefully Wednesday’s, then Thursday’s [on] Thursday. If we stay like that, we’ll be alright.”
This is a long-winded way of telling his team, “Do your job.” A player’s job is to go day-by-day, practice-by-practice, week-by-week, game-by-game.
If players do that, and do it well, then they don’t get caught looking past anyone. And it seems Arians is willing to be a firebug to halt any such lazy ideas.

Problem is…the Bucs always find a fire extinguisher to put themselves out.
Here’s hoping we can build a bon fire.

Bruce ought to show the team highlights of the game he coached in the desert where the Bucs went into there after beating the Falcons and then got drilled 40-7 or a similar embarrassing score; the lesson: the teams read their press clippings (as well as possibly the coaches)…. Looks like Bucco Bruce is trying to avoid the Bucs from having one of those embarrassing let-down/look ahead losses that we are all too familiar with.

It is certainly one of the most used cliches…..”One day at a time….one game at a time”…..but it is a cliche because it is absolutely essential to think that way.
And, when we come to it JBF fans…..it’s a good way to look at our lives….enjoy each day….as if it were your last.

Dare I say it, it sounds like Arians has been reading Mike Smith’s You Win in the Locker Room First.

TampaTown Says:

Please let’s beat the Giants FIRST. Let’s not get away with ourselves

Real Bucs fans know that; it’s called The First Commandment.

Exactly. Not sure why he even has to answer those questions. Any real coach will say one day/game at a time. Daniel Jones was a high 1st rounder for a reason and they all get paid real money to win too. Lets see how the Giants game goes before we lose it over a win against the stinking’s

I always laugh that the media is ALWAYS trying to push teams into talking about winning tons of games in a row when anyone who has achieved any success in life knows it is built one day at a time, one play at a time. The Patriots have been literally laying that out for all of us to see for TWO DECADES and the media always misinterprets it as some sort of act/media embargo to keep things vanilla.
NO.
It is literally their mindset and why they are so successful
Absolutely nothing has changed for the Bucs. Brees being out does not affect the Giants in the least this week nor will it have any effect on the Rams in LA next week.
To think beyond that – when injury and circumstances change everything drastically from week to week is completely foolish.

And not for nothing, Teddy lite our tails on fire the last time we saw him. Not to mention all the “backup” QBs we’ve into stars over the years.

I can never get enough Beavis and Butthead.
September 18th, 2019 at 12:30 pm
Why would anyone think that the Bucs have a one way street to winning because Brees/Newton are out…The Bucs still have to play regardless of what the Saints or Panthers do….This team needs to keep focused and play one game at a time….Lol….If the Bucs were playing the Saints or Panthers 16 times, I would probably be doing back flips and front flips.

LOVE Beavis and Butthead!!! Thanks Joe!!

The bucs are the team that gets looked passed. The bucs haven’t been good enough in a long time to look pass anyone.

Joe if we finish with a winning record at home this season will you stop referring to RJS as the “Den of Depression?”
