Good News For Bucs Offense

Quick, someone nudge Bucs offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich. It seems someone or some people working with the Bucs offense are asleep at the switch.
On an offense loaded at the skill positions, sans running back, the Bucs offense seems to be swimming upstream in the early-going of 2019.
The Bucs are No. 26 in the NFL in average yards per game after two games. With guys like Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, O.J. Howard, Cam Brate and America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, that just shouldn’t be.
In the first two weeks of the season, the Bucs offense is strikingly consistent, but not in a good way. The Bucs have racked up 295 yards of offense against the 49ers and 289 yards of offense against the Stinking Panthers.
To hear one former NFL coach who used to pull a paycheck in New Jersey, that should change this week. “They can’t stop anybody,” bellowed the NFL’s Capt. Lou Albano, otherwise known as Rex Ryan, former Jets and Bills coach.
In an appearance on BSPN’s “Stay in Bed,” Ryan tore apart the Giants defense. And while much of Gotham is fixated on who will start at quarterback for the Giants, the real problem, Ryan said, is the Giants defense.
Joe knows this: If the Giants defense really is that bad, the Bucs better have more than 300 yards of offense with the weapons the Bucs possess.

Zero targets to OJ at Carolina…..ZERO!!! By my math we could triple that this week and it would still be ZERO!!!
Leftwich needs to get the TEs & the RBs into our offense. Only Godwin is getting any separation as a WR…..Passing taking too long for the protection Jameis is getting…..get the ball out……BAM!!!! Good offense….

Even when you play Madden‘s as a quarterback you can change hot routes and audibles based on what you see from the defense. It’s not Leftwichs fault if Jameis is playing too conservatively. Let’s stop throwing the blame everywhere but the quarterback. I’m not saying this as a negative toward Jameis. This is a whole new offense. Brad Johnson took almost a year to learn Gruden’s offense. Let’s just hope we can keep winning and staying relevant and Winston will actually get better.

So let’s see, the Giants’ offense stinks AND the Giants’ defense stinks. We’re playing at RayJay AND we’re on a 1-game winning streak. Obviously the game’s in the bag and there’s no need for the Giants to even show up.
Except that they will show up, and like a wounded animal they’re extremely dangerous. Take NOTHING for granted. WINNERS beat those teams who they’re SUPPOSED TO BEAT. Losers fall into the trap of looking past their next opponent far too often.
I suspect we’ll see a gameplan not unlike what we did against Carolina. Very Conservative, with probably a 50-50 balance of rushing & passing. Lots of short/intermediate passes with very limited deep shots. IOW, a gameplan designed to MINIMIZE TURNOVERS, win the TOP battle, and let our defense do its’ thing (STOP THE RUN, get off the field & limit the Giants to FGs). BA isn’t going to allow a repeat of Game 1.

Absolutely nothing wrong with a balanced attack. It’s a new coordinator, new offense, and it will take time. As long as there is improvement throughout the year, the talent should rise and the Bucs now have a formula.

Arians’ first year with the Cardinals, they started out 3-4 and struggled offensively for the first half of the season. Offense didn’t come alive until the second half. This is why it’s critical to have patience with Jameis, play good defense, and get the OL run blocking.

Where is that Skinny Post/Seam Route to Brate in the red zone? I expect to see that play return as the offense hits their stride. Was money in previous seasons. Throw it to the sure handed Brate in the end zone instead of Perriman…

IT will be great when the coaching staff can stop devising gameplans to keep the Bucs from beating themselves. Totally agree with the use of run game. Heck we
even have Dot downfield blocking downfield. If this veteran player buys in ,then everybody best get with the program. Pretty good job of keeping Carolina off
Jameis for most of the game. There could be pressure in the form of hits and
sacks. It goes with the job. It appears that teams are trying to cut off some Jameis escape routes, so Jameis has to adjust to this.
I believe it was Jimmy jack who pointed out that Green Bay must practice the scramble drill all the time. I often wonder if they have also devised a planned a
retreat route for Rogers. The way he glides out of the pocket and takes up residence in a safe zone to extend plays is uncanny. Bucs would do well study this and try to duplicate it.

Finally some rational logic. It’s great our defense seems to be playing better than last season but that doesn’t mean the offense has to take a step back either. There has been only 3 changes on the offensive side of the ball. No DJax, no Hump, and Cappa in at RG. That’s it! The rest is the same so there should be no backsliding from last seasons game totals unless someone wants to tell me that DJax, and Hump made most of the big plays. They did well but I’m not buying that they were the biggest reasons for big plays. The guys (Perriman, Wilson) added to replace them need to step up but they are in the same line for targets behind ME, CG, OJH, and CB. My opinion, too many long developing plays with very little separation along with some inaccuracy will get you 300 yards total offense. They shorten the pass routes and Jameis pullback a little on the fastballs and make it easier to catch along with a good run game we’ll keep the chains moving.

8 weeks for the offense to get the new system enough for Jameis to feel comfortable while being the game manager.

Joes fixation strikes again!!! He hates stats. Yet pulls up this ish. How did all those yards between the 20’s do for us the last few years, plus the garbage yards. And I’ll just bet field position has something to say about how many yards you have, and sustained clock eating drives, which is also called effectively running the football. I could go on, but why bother. Stubborn Joe is relentlessly so.

Well hopefully Evans is finally healthy after the extra rest. He did not look like himself in game 2 either (prob still sick).
And if Perriman can remember how to catch the ball, this offense should be firing on all cylinders.

The offense is too predictable. We run almost every time on 1st down it seems. When you establish the run and get the defenses
cheating into the box, it would seem play action can be your friend. You also have to be able to condition the defense with your play calling, get them guessing and guessing wrong. The Patriots are masters at this, but even Koetter was pretty good at it albeit not consistently.
