“I’ve Been Praying For A Little Nasty”

A seven-year starter on the Buccaneers offensive line, a man who often is a very harsh critic of his beloved Buccaneers, enjoyed seeing a team playing hard and old school on Thursday night.
Ian Beckles (1990-1996) barked at Bucs fans to not discount the win at Carolina because it’s so hard to win on the road during a short week.
On his In The Trenches podcast, Beckles said there’s plenty to look forward to with the Bucs but he’s not ready to say the team is good. However, Beckles said he loves the effort. “I’ve been praying for a little nasty,” Beckles said.
And he got it. He likes the energy in the defensive trenches and on the other side of the ball.
“I would have [given] a game ball to the offensive line. In that short week, beginning of the season going against Gerald McCoy who flapped his gums and showed his ass on Thursday night,” Beckles said. “The offensive line for once gave us the ability to continue running the ball.”
A noted McCoy basher, Beckles said McCoy’s critical personal foul after Ryan Jensen got under his skin was embarrassing.
“Jensen didn’t do nothing. He must have talked about [McCoy’s] mother. He didn’t really touch him. He didn’t do anything all that mean,” Beckles said. “… And then pushed [Jensen] back like a tough guy and got the 15 yards, made probably one play, tackle for loss. That’s about what Gerald does. Carolina, enjoy. Enjoy overpaying somebody who makes 1 1/2 plays per game and you will lose a lot.”
The Bucs were physical on Thursday and it was so damn refreshing — and very encouraging on a short week. Joe tips a hat to Bruce Arians’ sports science team for having the team ready.

Definitely was a bit of taunting there…..but not much…..GMC fell for it.
By the way….why does taunting always seem to be called on WRs & DBs because there is definitely a bunch of taunting going on between linemen.

Love this article! Marpet, Jensen & Cappa opening holes up the middle. Of course the other two are busy jumping off sides and letting defenders through but for this week that’s OK we won despite of their play. Still not fond of the decision to pay Smith.

Mcsoftie didn’t have to fall for anything, he set himself up for it. He literally put it out there in the press leading up to the game how much it meant to him and how overly emotional he was about the game..”i kno all ur escape moves buddy,” “Im sharing everything, im even involved in picking matchups,” “there’s people there i don’t like,” “I want to get booed,” …what a dumbass…SERIOUSLY, WHO DOES THAT!?!? Anyone with common sense knew he was raw and primed to take any kind of bait on the field. I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if B.A. took Jensen to the side while game planning and told him, “Lookie here Mr. “Nasty,” He’s already put himself on the hook, shots are on me if you can reel him in.”

Jensen got his rear end handed to him a couple of times after the PF. Thankfully McCoy missed the tackle on Barber on one, but on the other he caused a TFL. If McCoy comes into the next game in a few weeks thinking he’s the hulk, he’s going to destroy Jensen and Cappa. People need to not celebrate and dance on McCoy’s grave, because when you make a comic book nerd angry… well, you won’t like them when they’re angry.

McCoy danced on his own grave during a Bucs lopsided lose. Laughing it up the entire time. Sorry this is just karma catching up to him and his piss poor attitude about winning and actually earning his $100 million. He was OK as long as there was a camera and a paycheck. Losing he couldn’t care less about!

I second that Joe. Five strength & conditioning coaches seemed like overkill to many at the start of training camp, but thus far it appears to be paying dividends. We’ve got a relatively healthy squad … offensively AND defensively … especially compared to our last few years. I’m wondering now if any of them are working with JPP on his recovery or whether he’s doing it away from One Buc Palace.

The Bucs been playing tough x physical for 2 straight games now. They’re beating ppl up! Running the ball not w/ deception but STRAIGHT @ the defense, up the middle most times. Offensives can’t run the ball on us b/c of those 3 down guys blowing ppl up (Vea, Suh x Gholston).
Side note: Nelson plays really smart football, plays like a vet for a rookie!

Still know McCoy is a good guy. Don’t know why this has affected him so much. He just never was elite, just a good player. Nothing wrong with that. Suh is about the same now for less money. I don’t dislike McCoy, always liked him. Don’t understand why hated on organization, based on production

Real Drew… Suh is nothing like McCoy. Suh is a run stuffer, who commands double team. Suh clogs the holes that McCoy get pushed out of. Suh, Vea and Golstein are playing great at stopping the run, which is what Bowles envisioned. We only need one more pass rusher to make this defense more potent.

I can’t remember 1 game MCoy played in. Not one.
I can remember like 5 signature Derrick Brooks games. Like 8 Sapp games.
I can’t remember one game that was just “all McCoy.”

Pugs, you can’t remember because there aren’t any. I always was a Mccoy fan but he just never delivered in big spots
