Be Consistent
September 12th, 2019A linebacker who is a three-time Super Bowl champion thinks he has the answer to the problems of America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.
Consistency.
It’s not a novel concept by any means. But buried in the words from former Patriots linebacker Willie McGinest on NFL Network, is serious doubts about Jameis.
Here is what McGinest said that troubled Joe. McGinest doesn’t know if Jameis can make plays that can carry a team. When he tries to make plays, they often blow up in his face as we witnessed Sunday. Former Bucs tight end talked about the same kind of thing this week: Jameis struggling with “big-moment” throws.
There is no question Jameis is surrounded by talent. But dang, it seems like Jameis is getting worse, not better. Jameis was playing better when he had trash surrounding him like the misplaced Calgary Stampeder, Donteea Dye, and the pride of the velvet-lined lounge of the Vero Beach Ramada Inn, Freddie Martino.
See and hear McGinest’s words in the NFL Network video below.
What can we expect the @Buccaneers to improve upon on #TNF? @WillieMcGinest NEEDS CONSISTENCY π€#TBvsCAR pic.twitter.com/UYslcF1GtO

We’ve all been saying that for the last four years, going on five! Jameis has been very consistent in one aspect of the game, turning the ball over. Nothing new to what Willie said, that we haven’t heard before.
September 12th, 2019 at 9:08 am
Jameis will be just fine when escapes the small market irrelevant black hole that is Tampa bay Buccaneers football… no one can succeed in Tampa that has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. Outside of sapp and grudens glory year this franchise is laughable
September 12th, 2019 at 9:10 am
jameis has shown us his consistency.

Miss Cleo predicted yesterday that the Bucs will win the Super Bowl and JW will be the MVP.
Today she’s having second thoughts and purchased a new set of Tarot cards.
September 12th, 2019 at 9:18 am
All the hype our weapons get I bet opposing teams secondary are licking their chops at the opportunity to face them … They play even harder when Tampa is on the date. 49ers made our “weapons ” look water guns

He is consistently inaccurate. He consistently makes me want to throw my remote at the TV.
September 12th, 2019 at 9:19 am
Mcginist is right on. Even the Fsu diehards on here will even say Jameis is only struggling because the d is bad or the o line isn’t good enough or need more out of run game or the coaching or the culture ect ect . Exactly,Jameis isn’t good enough to overcome any deficiency anywhere. Most qbs arent, and that why there are very few really good/ great qbs. And some qbs like brad johnson and joe flacco ect just get lucky and are the qb when every asspect of the team is great and great things happen. Can’t sign Jameis longterm, time to move on.

Wow…Never thought of that. What a genius. “Consistency”….Man, these people are so smart.
September 12th, 2019 at 9:30 am
With Winston, you will ALWAYS get a lot of very good mixed in with equal amounts of very bad. That’s just who he is and how he plays and no coach will ever change that.
Winston is consistently inconsistent
September 12th, 2019 at 9:37 am
I thoroughly believed that we should have made a play for Teddy Bridgewater prior to the Saints. He can throw the long ball better, yes he had INT’s, but they could have been cleaned up. Seems to be healthy. Probably heir apparent to Brees. I hope I am wrong since we will be going up against him for years to come when Brees retires.
September 12th, 2019 at 9:42 am
What I’ve been saying for days… Jekyll and Hyde QB. That isn’t a winning formula for success, in a “one loss and your out” playoff system.

I’ve been a Jameis supporter……but the word here is “CHOKE”…..
And, I truly believe he has gotten worse…..remember that awesome game a few years ago against the Eagles?……where has that been?
And, when we finally have a decent defense and a running game, our offense puts up 10 points…..WTF?
September 12th, 2019 at 9:54 am
I want to see more quick passes tonight. Get him some easy throws to get his confidence up. No more plays with Jameis going through his progressions. When he thinks long he thinks wrong. Unfortunately thatβs where weβre at right now.
September 12th, 2019 at 10:02 am
What the hell??? He IS consistent!!! Consistently SUCKS!!!
September 12th, 2019 at 10:09 am
Pitcher.. Playing QB in the NFL.
September 12th, 2019 at 10:12 am
Even when Jameis builds a little consistency, he can’t get the ball into the end zone. He can stack up yards between the 20s but then it falls apart.
He needs to stop shooting for the big play, that he can’t hit, and play the way coaches have tried to get him to.
The problem is that he forgets it all when a game starts, that is even more consistent than the interceptions, fumbles, and giving games away.
September 12th, 2019 at 10:14 am
Pitchers and QBs are the most important piece of a team no one would contest this. But when you’ve played both all your life once you get to a point someone says “you have to sacrifice one foot the other” you agree but in your mind you can’t just turn off the pitcher aspect. High heat? That’s a pitcher thing. Lack of touch on certain short routes? Well even when a pitcher throws off speed it’s still with velocity. Trouble with deep balls? Pitchers rarely throw that far. I mean look at JWs passing motion. Do you all not see a pitcher???
September 12th, 2019 at 10:18 am
This is what i predicted with the Arians hire. JW already takes a long time in processing the field, but having to learn a brand new system for the first time since rookie year is only going to set hin back further. Even worse this coaching staff is going to have to relearn all the situations that JW fails in, something we fans are probably more knowledgeable about. It is much too uphill a battle. There seems to be no light at the end of thumis tunnel for JW or Bucs fans, unless that of an oncoming train.

I miss Freddie Martino
September 12th, 2019 at 10:40 am
Let’s be real here.
Does anyone really expect to tune in tonight and see a different Jameis than we’ve seen the last 4 seasons? Especially on the road and in prime time?
I certainly don’t.
I expect and foresee the defense to play well again. I expect and foresee the running game to look better than last season. I expect and foresee our team to be overall more well coached than last season. And I expect Jameis to make dumb mistakes like he usually does. He’ll probably fumble. Definitely throw a pick or 3.
Its so sad. I’m looking forward to tonight but does anyone really think we’ll see a different outcome than usual?
Especially against Cam, McCaffrey and a Panthers team on TNF who is more marketable than our crap franchise?
September 12th, 2019 at 10:41 am
You miss the mellow lounge sounds of “You’ll never find another love like mine” floating about Raymond James, music courtesy of Freddie Martino? Don’t forget… Arians squashed the music…
September 12th, 2019 at 10:44 am
Iβm feeling good about our Bucs tonight. If Rojo keeps it up and OJ remembers how to hold onto the ball weβll be alright. Would like D. White to start showing some star qualities soon.
September 12th, 2019 at 10:49 am
I think they deadass werenβt ready for that game last week lol the whole offense besides Godwin and rojo played trash oline played good in run blocking I think they are going to run rojo and play action this game and itβs going to help I think a lot

I must agree with TMax on this one. Once Winston bounces from BucLand…he will likely be good given the right circumstance. Too much baggage over the past 4+ years. Donβt be surprised if he and possibly Licht Weight ( although he seems to have a lifetime, no cut contract ) go to New England as a package deal. Janitorial for Jason and Brady/Belichick backup/understudy for Winston.
September 12th, 2019 at 10:58 am
Winston should have never thrown either of those pick 6 passes. I donβt care if Payton Barber ran a bad route. Those passes should have never been thrown period. There were 3-4 other passes that bounced off defenders chest, face and hands. I believe he actually had a worse game than people are giving him credit for.
September 12th, 2019 at 11:03 am
I agree Winston’s throwing motion is a mix of pitching and throwing. MY opinion is let him throw how he feels is natural and work on ball placement and timing. P. Rivers has a god awful throwing motion but it works for him. To me Winston looked like a QB trying not to make mistakes last game.
September 12th, 2019 at 11:05 am
Anybody seen NDog ?
September 12th, 2019 at 11:08 am
After 4 years of making dumb mistakes, I think doing things wrong is ingrained in his mentality. It will take ALOT to change him to normal. Frankly, he has given no tendency to move toward maturity in his craft. IMHO, if he doesn’t show progress this sesaon he’ll be history…and rightfully so. He appears uncoachable.
September 12th, 2019 at 11:16 am
5 years in with a stellar receiving core, NFL’s leading turnover machine, and off field issues that question his character and decisions. THIS IS THE END. HE IS NO F***ING GOOD!!!!!
September 12th, 2019 at 11:18 am
@DalvinCookRules — finally some interesting and intelligent analysis on here. We have a very non-cerebral, mistake-prone QB. And yet we had a high octane, successful offense last year. We should NEVER have torn it down to start over, requiring a slow learner to learn a new system, making him uncertain and exposing his panicky, sloppy tendencies. He’s a mess, but we made it worse by jamming a (crappy, less interesting) new offense on him.
Monken > Leftwich — by a ton.
September 12th, 2019 at 11:18 am
Winston is just not smart enough to make a quick decision. Rarely does he get the ball out on time for a completion. His big plays are when he scrambles and has tons of time to look around. I’d love to see him benched after tonight’s game for Ryan Griffin, but they will give him 5 or 6 more bad games before putting in Blane Gabbert…

I have posted on multiple occasions that Jameis is a better βpitcherβ than a βquarterbackβ. What I mean by that is that Jameis is great throwing βfastballsβ to a spot, so that curls and comebacks are great routes for him, however he seems relatively poor at throwing to a moving target, especially one moving directly away from him, such as fly or go routes, or a wheel route by an RB. To me, the ability to hit a stationary target is best for a pitcher, however to hit a moving target is best served by a quarterback.

Jameis is just one of long list of subpar QBs for the Bucs. The “best QB in Bucs history” claim is only made by idiots who fail to recognize his garbage yards stat means nothing. He is a loser overall, and inconsistency is one of three reasons this clown is fisnished. He doesn’t have until the end of the season before the decisiion is made either. Yes, he will play until he’s gone though. Winston is a loser in life. Period.
September 12th, 2019 at 11:31 am
I’m headed to the Holiday Inn in Vero Beach to watch the game tonight with Freddie Martino and laugh my a$$ off.
This has the potential to be a butt kicking of biblical proportions if JayMiss displays his usual consistency.
September 12th, 2019 at 11:34 am
Not only is he inconsistent, but he can’t produce under pressure. And the more pressure he feels, the worse he will get. There is nothing good about that. He is a joke in the national narrative.
September 12th, 2019 at 11:37 am
Winston has not have a positive story out on him since 2016. And the press since has been awful, enough to keep fans and anyone else away. Anyone seen this loser on any commercial since then? He is radioactive, bad news. The kind of guy you don’t want selling your product. Such a loser. A human wasteland.

I am a FSU alumni
I am ready to move on from Jameis Winston
I have seen all I want to see from this quarterback
At this point I am hardly able to watch the offense of Bucs games
I do think he is capable of carrying a team on his back when needed–remember the Saints Game –last game of the 2017 season–45 seconds on the clock–no timeouts–touchdown to Godwin and 2point conversion to Evans. Regardless, he is not consistent and has many more very bad quarterback play. Not worth another contract and we are already salary capped.

color blind are typically red/green “color blind”…for instance a dark red car in the sun (burgundy) will look black to me until I get right up on it and then can see there is another color and it is not black, that is a bold color example, subtle color example would be lavender looks light blue to me (so I am told)…my point is while I can’t get the name properly I can see the contrast between the two teams colors…that is NEVER been and issue..about 10% of male population is “color blind” and the trait is passed on to every other generation oddly enough
September 12th, 2019 at 1:01 pm
I am a long time U Miami fan 1965…I am not ready to move on from Jameis just yet, but unless he plays consistently like the “good Jameis” ,which would be a DRAMATIC change…he is digging his own grave, not only in Tampa but as a starter in the NFL
September 12th, 2019 at 1:29 pm
@Altered Ego:
Interesting first-person perspective! Thank You!
As noted above, even if true for JW3, this should not present a problem differentiating home (colored) from road (white) jerseys.
A βcolor rushβ game with Bucs vs. Jets or Eagles say, may be problematic, as I suspect both uniforms would appear as shades of gray.
The gene for the most common form of color blindness is carried on the X chromosome, that is why there is a male preponderance (only one X chromosome), whereas the women have two. So, that means you canβt give the gene to your sons (they get a Y chromosome from you), but that your daughters (XXβ) may give that Xβ gene to their sons.

After Jameis threw the receiving corps under the bus Monday, I expect there are already several malcontents. Iβve consistently defended Jameis. I donβt think heβs the horrible monster heβs been made out to be. Kind of like him personally, but he doesnβt have that unflappable mental make-up to be a successful NFL quarterback or big league pitcher for that matter. Yes he is an athletic specimen, but if he was pitching in a big game and two guys got on base, he would start uncorking wild pitches and hitting batters. Just like when the pocket collapses, he just heaves it.

I really hope he plays well tonight, not for Jameis’ sake, for Buc fans’ sake.
It’s interesting that many people think that Jameis will be a “better” QB once he leaves Tampa Bay. I’m curious to know what this statement is based upon?
September 12th, 2019 at 4:27 pm
Because bucs fan man people are delusional. They think he only throws picks because he is a buc. If he was on another team he wouldnβt throw any. Because you know everyone he is about to throw the ball he is thinking about how bad the team is. But on another team he will happy playoff thoughts every time he throws it and his deep balls will magically land in the receivers hands in full stride. And he will throw 50 touchdowns to only zero interceptions. Because no more stress of having the bucs in his head as he throws
