Glowing Review For Devin White

The Bucs defense was good against the 49ers, and rookie savior linebacker Devin White got an even more impressive review.
White played every snap and, per Bruce Arians, he really didn’t screw anything up as the quarterback of the defense, the guy relaying the defensive calls and barking adjustments.
Arians was on the Buccaneers Radio Network yesterday and had high marks for the No. 5 overall pick.
“I thought he did extremely well. We were never out of sync,” Arians said of White. “We were always in the right calls, right adjustments. He tackled well. Got picked on one play, but that comes with the territory sometimes when you’re guarding underneath coverage. I thought overall he had a heck of a solid game.”
Yes, Arians said, it’s no easy job White has in Todd Bowles’ defense.
“We have a lot of defense, a lot of plays, a lot of complicated stuff, so when you’re sending all that in motion, jet motion and stuff, to keep your eyes trained to where they’re supposed to be and get everybody adjusted, the line sliding which way they’re going, he just did a fantastic job, a very smart player.”
So there you go. White is getting the job done.
Now it’s time to take a step forward and make big plays tonight against the Panthers.

I like Devin White and hope he does well..
To me he had some rookie hesitancy, but that’s ok, first game and the flu in 100 degree heat.
I’m already starting to tune BA out though…he doesn’t seem as genuine as I had heard/hoped. Then again, he comes from the Steve Keim/ Bidwill bunch, and those two are dolts. Might have made him look more like the smart one.

White allowed 6/6 with 54 yards after the catch to happen, was really a non factor in the run game, even getting stiff armed a couple times, but sure, White was great. This is an insane statement by Arians. I would have put White’s performance as the worst on the defense. I know PFF isn’t perfect but he graded out as failing in every aspect.

Yeah a rookie that was drafted at 5th overall. Did you see the rookie linebackers last year that made all-pro? One wasn’t even drafted in first round. He was drafted to make an immediate impact. And yes, he was pretty darn terrible. Did you even watch the game?

he is going to be JUST an other player…..thats it. There is nothing we have drafted so far that impresses anyone out there…..
We are bad drafters, bad traders, bad coaching, bad managing, and incapable owners.
I don’t see anything good to happen to Bucs in near future……and we will continue to be very unlucky fans, for having this team.

Just how are the “we should have drafted Josh Allen” fans grading him with his 1 solo tackle & no sacks?……..Wow, a real force….
The point is that it was one game….the first game….
And as far as Devin Bush is concerned……a few tackles after the RB or WR has gained a bunch of yards……

Josh Allen actually had a sack that was called back due to penalty. Plus, they were down the entire game which didn’t give him much of a chance to do anything. I like Devin white and hope he turns into a stud MLB. Just saying he had a bad first game.

I wasnt impressed with him in college, but 1 game is not a true test of how this young man will play in the future. 1 game and a few preseason snaps isnt enough. Give him a chance.

What I saw was a TEAM defense, led by a rookie MLB, that allowed 2 TDs on the day. The rest of the points weren’t really on them. I’d say that’s a pretty good day at the office good doctor for a ROOKIE playing in his FIRST NFL game. Personally I don’t give a rats where a player gets drafted. Some #1’s have been busts and some 7th rounders are in the HOF.

Just an average ham and egger here, I didn’t see the kid flash much in the game. He seemed non existent. Kwon made his presence felt early…White has a ton of work to do in my opinion.

Of course LVD was helping him, he did the same thing when Kwon was calling in the plays too. As he should, that’s what vets do.

I never saw him play in college. But what I do know is after 1 game he looked small and slow. But that shouldn’t mean squat considering it was his first game and he was ill. I want nothing more than for him to succeed, but I also can’t deny what I saw.

If we had this defense all of last season we would not have been picking in the top ten in this year’s draft. I still doubt we will have a top ten pick in the 2020 draft. This D is better, and the offense will be soon. Screw the trolls and Gerald McCoy too. Bucs are my team. Always have been. Always will be.

You all act like he supposed to make every play on defense or he is a bust. Defense is about 11 dude doing their job, if he made the right call and didn’t miss his assignment, then he did awesome. Most young linebackers struggle with being pulled out of their assignments by good offensive coordinator. The defense played really well, yet we want to find flaw in one guys game?

Yes this isn’t the bill Walsh 9ers, but Shanahan is an excellent offensive coach who I would imagine has picked on many rookies through his days. In my opinion he didn’t make mistakes, once he is comfortable in knowing his role he will begin to play faster and trust his reads. He certainly didn’t get Bozworthed out there.

I was at the game and I don’t care what any of you dumb arses say, Devin played a pretty d@mn good game for the first time in the NFL. Especially as the Mike. He mainly patrolled the middle of the field inside the tackles where Bowles had LVD lining up in many different places in and out of the box. I’m sure as time goes on he’ll start lining up in multiple spots as well. As long as we don’t have significant injuries these MLB’s should be one of the best duo’s in the league. I’m happy we drafted Devin.

Someone above laughed at the notion that we’re coming a rookie(white) to a seasoned vet(David). Well how about you compare white to Lavonte David as a rookie? Night and day between them so far. David showed up anywhere and everywhere the ball was. Even both kwon and beckwith looked immediately solid. It’s just a bit concerning that the earliest drafted LB in the last decade has so far been nearly invisible on the field through off season practices, 4 preseason games, and 1 regular season game. I think it’s perfectly justifiable for fans to be having some concern especially when they look at the options we passed on in favor of drafting white, particularly along the Dline .

Bull crap, for one thing LVD wasn’t even the mike LB his first season (Mason Foster) and at no time did he play in such a complex system to start his career. For what Devin has had to learn in a relatively short amount of time is stellar and he’ll only get better as time goes on. I put way more stock in BA and Co.’s opinion.

CMC is definitely going to give White and LVD a challenge to measure themselves against. My take on White was that he played ok overall with a mix of good and a few mini-whiffs but nothing egregious or worth getting excited about. I am beginning to reevaluate the value of BA’s player comments though… they seem mostly about boosting player morale and not necessarily the brutal truth telling I expected.
Now, LVD on the other hand was on fire and in All Pro form. We shall see tomorrow night.

The defense played great, the coaches like his film, he didn’t make any big mistakes and is the QB of the defense that is extremely complicated.
