Depressing forecast.
Man, and you thought folks in New York and Los Angeles and Connecticut has some jaded beliefs that the Bucs were rotten! Well, get a load of this.
BSPN came out with their draft order projections. These are generated after the remaining regular season schedule is run through software programs and databases some 10,000 times.
After the really, really ugly season-opener to San Francisco with America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, looking really bad, that apparently left a deep impression upon BSPN’s computers. The four-letter gives the Bucs a 54.1 percent chance of having a top-five pick and a 10.8 percent chance of finishing with the No. 1 overall pick.
Currently, BSPN has the Bucs picking No. 2 next spring.
If the Bucs do finish that low, Joe will guess Jameis had a downright awful season, and Team Glazer then passes on dropping more cash on Jameis.
If that is the case, do the Bucs grab Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert or does Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht trade down and rack up picks and pray that Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm is still available?
Man, Joe hopes that sure isn’t the case and the Bucs win some freaking games.

BA said it isn’t all Winston’s fault and it takes a while to learn this offense. So why the he’ll not take advantage of preseason and let the starters play more so they can speed up the learning process? I am rapidly getting tired of this organization and the excuses.

If they finish that low, they’d be guaranteed Herbert or Tua. Gotta take one of those two. And on top of that, you need to add a veteran backup like Tannehill or Bortles.

You can’t pay Jameis $30 mil. Even if this team makes the playoffs this year. One year doesn’t make a QB. Spending 1/6th of your cap on Winston would be a mistake.

Ouch…Andy Dalton!!! I grew up on the Ohio River right across from Cincinnati and so I was a Bengals fan until I moved to Tampa a few decades ago.
My family still lives there and a couple of cousins even have Bengal season tickets. The angst and mixed feelings they’ve felt over the “Red Rifle” is as bad as our feelings with JW.
But you describe my greatest fear with JW. Not that he’s a total bust or will mess up off the field again…we simply move on if that happens…no it’s what you laid out…

if we’re picking #2 in the draft, trade down, collect picks, build depth…..fromm or herbert will look just as bad with this team as rookies….

I dont want to pay 30 mil to Winston either. However outside of Tua the rest of the QB’s have Question Marks. I would chose between Fromm and Burrows from LSU. He learned the Saints offense in no time and his pocket presence this past Saturday was pretty good. Standing in the pocket making throws knowing he would get hit. Cant wait to see if he climbs the draft board as the season goes on.

No it’s Newport Kentucky. Louisville is across from Indiana. Just rolled through there on my way back from summer home in Michigan.
I’ve met my son in Newport…he lives in Columbus…and we literally just walk across the bridge to Reds games.

Don’t know why anyone isn’t mentioning Burrow, QB from LSU. Forget about a QB from Oregon, pick the kid who plays in the SEC. Plays against real teams, is used to the heat, and lives in our time zone, close to where he grew up. He had a monster game against a good Texas team in their house. Keep an eye on this kid Joe, we don’t need an Oregon QB who isn’t as good as Mariota. Draft meat, not sushi.

What a mess. We’re locked in for at least 3 more games and we’re paying him for the whole year no matter what. IF (and I truly hope it doesn’t happen) JW plays as badly for the next 3 as he did in the first, we’ll be starting Gabbert. I just don’t see BA sitting at 0-4 trotting out a 10 interception QB for loyalty sake. Far more likely is JW plays well enough to get us to 2-2 or maybe 1-3. There’s too much talent on this roster to get a top 2 pick unless you turn the ball over a lot. Top 10? Sure, but then you’ve got to pick a diamond in the rough and who has faith we can do that.

Oh, we are picking top 5 again unless Griffin can come in and light it up! Im already counting on that. JW will have a fire game where he’s firing on all cylinders (about 1 out of every 6), but thats too inconsistent for the NFL!

So……is Mike Evans gonna come out and say its his fault for not being 7ft tall with 5 more feet of catch radius and can jump 5 ft higher and run 10mph faster?…. Im waiting…

I hope trevor comes out but if so, we better be picking top 3….Burrow looked good too.
But dont let Jake Fromm stay off the radar. He’ll go top 10-20. That kids got some good skill too. Size not so much at 6’2 but Brees is 6’0 so theres that.

So do we Joe. No real Bucs fan should want to have to spend another high draft pick on a QB. And your other comments are spot on. Frankly, Jameis is being given every chance, and every resource. Hope he makes it. It is in his hands.

Theres a limited time to having these Offensive weapons that JW has been blessed with. I dont mind hurrying up and drafting a top QB with our first pick next year…dont even mind trading up if needed (doubt that though, we’re probably picking top 3 if we stick with JW)

Trevor isn’t eligible until next year. If the Bucs take a QB in the first round this year, it should be Fromm, regardless of which other QBs are available. Holding out hope for JW, but could get on board with Fromm very quickly.

Oh yeah Newport, I don’t know why I was thinking Louisville. I lived in Cinci for 2 years on assignment for my Co. so you’d think I’d get that right, although it has been many years ago. I also was a Reds fan, but I’ve always been a Bucs fan. This was before Tampa Bay was awarded a team.

All you youngsters won’t know what I’m talking about in the age of cell phones, GPS, and Google Maps; but have any of you ridden with someone who was totally lost, but refused to admit it, and kept going in the wrong direction.
That is what my frustration with JW3 and the Bucs feels like to me!

Troy said it best – the Bucs can’t spend 1/6 of the cap on a below-average QB. It’s time to move on. The money would be better spent elsewhere.

Jameis is the same guy he has been all along. Forcing us to watch him loose year after year so the team can figure out he gonna keep losing is just awful when we all knew several years ago the guy is a bust. Even a casual fan can evaluate the obvious. This guy is not a good qb and it bothers me that leadership still needs more data to see this when we have seen it for years. That’s the bigger problem.

Well, Im not a hater of Licht….he’s had some misses, but some hits too. JW and Mariotta were the only choices back then, looks like both are a miss.
Now, yes he neglected some key positions we needed in players (in hindsight) and really messed up on that guyo (forget his name) he traded up for. But Matt Gay is his redemption there, IMO. Its taking time.
But we’re running out of time! We have some serious offensive weapons for a QB to take advantage of…4 to 5 year window unless we luck out on some low round or uda gems like Jason has found over the last few years! Jason has his talents but also fails in some “keen” areas of great importance. right now, its gonna be QB. Time to move one from JW and set up the future for who we draft….maybe franchise JW as a bridge for the new guy (hopefully Fromm).

I prefer the best OL next year (Andrew Thomas OT Georgia)
and the year after get Trevor Lawrence QB Clemson.
Ideally, Jameis has a revelation this year and next and Trevor is not needed, but I’m starting to think that is not happening.

Fromm? Just because the Bulldogs let not 1 but 2 better QBs transfer doesn’t mean he’s that good. Aaron Murray part 2 perhaps. And the thought of Licht Weight picking another high pick makes me sick.

I can wait till we finish the season to be talking about a quarterback. I mean look how Matt Ryan played with all those weapons. Ryan has always had a good running back and wr, and a decent defense and still haven’t won nothing but never gets criticized when he plays bad. If Jamies does not get better than I say move on. But let me say this the bucs did a bad Job building around Jamies as well. Now the Titans have gave Mariota every thing that a young quarterback needs to be successful. And the hold DJAX thing go back and look at who was the running backs at all those teams and look at the yards they have. That’s why DJAX looked good at those teams but what happened when he came to a team that couldn’t run the ball and he was double team every play. But now he’s back with a team that can run and now they can’t double him and now he looks great again. But people that don’t know football can’t understand that!!!!
