Still Learning

Getting offense right.

This doesn’t surprise Joe one bit.

Joe forgot to ask America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, earlier this week just how much of Bruce Arians’ Byron Leftwich’s offense he had down. Arians once recently referred to the playbook as holding a crazy amount of plays. It wouldn’t surprise Joe one bit if Jameis or others on the offense don’t know it in its entirety.

Alas, Joe got distracted. Oh well, there’s always next week.

But if the 49ers have an advantage Sunday against the Bucs at the Den of Depression, it is that the Bucs don’t exactly have the entire offense down yet, per Leftwich’s words from Thursday.

“Anytime you’ve got new systems on both sides, the more you can practice, the more you can get repetitions of everything, is always better,” the Bucs’ offensive coordinator began. “I just think we’re getting closer. We’re coming together. Just watching the guys – the way they’re talking, the way they’re doing in the locker room – this is a close group of guys when you watch these guys interact with each other.

“That’s what I like about it the most – these guys are all in with each other. They are committed to each other. And, those are normally signs of pretty good football teams, but we’ll have to see. I just like the way these guys are handling every situation we’re putting in front of them. They’re doing a heck of a job of all that.”

Joe hopes the team knows enough of the new offense to get the job done Sunday.

Joe believes if there is a way the Bucs can give Jameis time to throw, the Bucs could beat the 49ers.

Richard Sherman isn’t what he once was and even then, how has Mike Evans done going against him? Outside of the pass rush — a big factor — the 49ers’ defense doesn’t scare Joe.

I recall BA saying recently that they sit down with the key players and ask THEM to contribute in the game plan. Which plays do you want? Which plays do you NOT want?

    Smart.

I’m not worried about the defense either. But they should be worried about ours!

I think the difference in our speed on defense will show up immediately…..Go Bucs!!!

It’s going to be our defense that catches teams by surprise, in my opinion. We’re good enough on offense to beat teams.

I agree with all so far.
The Buc’s defense will scare people again.

After this game of course!! 🙂

I was there when the big bad 49ers came to town in 97 for the opener and we took it to them and it changed the franchises direction… I’m hoping for the same thing here!!!!!

Also, I have to say I’m impressed with this medical staff.
Getting these starters (Vea, David and Edwards) back on all 3 levels of defense for game 1 is paramount.

In years past, we would hear nothing and then they would just be MIA on Sundays.

    Heal quick Justin Evans.
    Gonna need you!!!!!

  7. Bob in Valrico Says:

Godwin may see more of Richard Sherman than Evans does. Unless things have changed in San Fran, Sherman likes to line up on the offenses right side.

The pack struggled with a new offense last night.

    “Still Learning”

This is a very good point. I love our chances on Sunday, but we need to be a little patient with the learning curve our Bucs will have. At the same time, I also believe it will be difficult for the 49ers to game plan

    Go Bucs!

Bring it on! You learn something new everyday to get better. Yep still learning.

I don’t follow any team but our Bucs. That said, is Richard Sherman the same dude who was a superstar DB with Seattle? What happened? How’d he end up on the 49ers? Long in the tooth?

  13. D1 Says:

    Orlbucfan,

SHERMAN was injured in Seattle and he was getting expensive to retain. The Hawks basically blew up the legion of boom and are rebuilding with younger less expensive players. Sherman was still top 10 last year.
