1,000 Yards
September 6th, 2019Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians likes a lot on his new Bucs team. More than most people.
One thing Arians has crowed about that folks not working at One Buc Palace seem to universally agree is that wide receiver Chris Godwin will blow up this year.
From fantasy football freaks to gambling degenerates to wannabe PlayStation warriors, who wear headsets you can buy at Verizon Wireless stores and hold Waffle House menus in front of their faces so the dog doesn’t hear their playcalls to regular fans, damn near everyone seems to think Godwin is the Next Big Thing in the NFL.
There is a lot of evidence to back up that belief. And the Godwin hype has hit CBS Sports. There, Jordan Dajani is of the mind Godwin will get 1,000 yards receiving, or more.
Chris Godwin records first 1,000-yard season
Godwin has recorded just 1,367 receiving yards in his first two years with the Bucs, but he could be due for a big season in 2019. Tampa has another budding star at the wideout position.
That is not unreasonable. He had 842 yards last year and he only started five games. This year, Godwin is a starter. And Arians plans to target him. A lot.
With defenses keying on Mike Evans, as they should, respecting Breshad Perriman’s deep threat and of course the dynamic duo of tight ends, Godwin should blow up.

Jameis is too inaccurate to help receivers maximize their gifts

That’s why DJAX left ^

Anthem-DJax wanted out the 2nd game last year after he was balling out with fitzmagic. Even if #3 could hit him he still wanted out. So glad he is gone. Go Bucs #endthedrought

Unless Godwin can put up 65 yds a game on 3-5 targets a game that would be a tough feat with so many mouths to feed.

Godwin should have been the #2 WR last season. He would be rated the #1 WR on most teams. Definitely a top 15 WR in this league.

1,000 not what it used to be, with 16 games that’s just 62.5 per game….Chris has a lot of YAC ability so that doesn’t seem so earth-shattering

Our receivers could make Mitch Trubisky look like a Hall of Famer.

If he didn’t need to rely on the rest of the team he could do it easy. The rest of the offense will hold him down like an anchor.

If Godwin doesn’t get 1000 yards it will be because of Howard, Brate, Perriman & Jones….or Dare.
Yes….our RBs will get many yards this year.

——————————–
He actually had more snaps on the season than Jackson,,, His snap count average was at 64% for the season, second only to Evans (84%) and Humphries (70%) among RBs, WRs, and TEs. He was basically a starter.

Thanks for the stats. Did not realize this. Besides the 5 games Djax was injured, Godwin mostly played in the slot.

i get a weird feeling Godwin could outgain Evans this year. Winston’s trust in him is rising but opponents can’t afford to give him more attention than Evans gets. Godwin will see way more targets than years past, and will do alot more after the catch than mike does. That’s not a knock on Mike, I just think Mike will be catching most balls with 2+ guys very close by while Chris will find more daylight and frankly moves through traffic better with the ball.
