Pat Kirwan Says 4-12 For Bucs, “Tear Down” To Follow; Ex-Bucs QB Calls 2-14

September 3rd, 2019

This is disturbing because it comes from arguably the hardest working and most experienced NFL analysts in the business, a former coach and an ex-QB who spent time at One Buc Palace this summer and love Bucco Bruce Arians as a head coach.

The showpiece program of SiriusXM NFL Radio is Movin’ The Chains, with Pat Kirwan and former Jaguars, Falcons, Bears, Bucs and Patriots quarterback Jim Miller.

Yesterday was their day to make predictions for the NFC South and Kirwan likes the Saints to repeat, the Falcons to play 9-7 football, as the Panthers limp to 8-8 and the Bucs implode at 4-12.

“It’s tough to look at down there and I would love to see [Jameis] Winston play better. I love the coach. I love what he wants to do,” Kirwan said. “This might be a tear down at some point in a year or two.”

Miller sees the Panthers as 9-7, better than the Falcons but not a playoff team. He’s got major question marks about the Atlanta pass rush and he doesn’t have them in the playoffs, either.

The Bucs? Miller thinks they could compete for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

“They probably will have more than the two wins I have them slated for. But I think their defense. They have a lot of work to do, man. I don’t know if they upgraded at all,’ Miller said. “… Where is the pass rush from this group right now? At all?”

Miller added that while he’s a fan of Todd Bowles as a defensive coordinator, “ultimately it’s smoke and mirrors” on defense for the Bucs because they don’t have enough talent on that side of the ball.

First, shame on Miller for saying the Bucs “probably will have more than the two wins I have them slated for.” Jim, if that’s what you think, then don’t make a two-win pick.

Regardless, both of these scenarios would represent a horror show for Bucs fans. Barring a long-term injury to America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, the Bucs should win more than four games.

If the Bucs are a four-win-or-less club with a healthy Jameis like these guys predict, then Joe hopes Team Glazer has the stones to blow up the regime and start over.

Great fun, food and Bucs passion at Buffalo Wild Wings all season long. Watch every road game with Ira Kaufman and JoeBucsFan.com readers. Great giveaways, too. The preseason opener was a blast.

This disrespect has to quit. I’m not even a player and this ish got me ticked off.

  2. Rob in Land O Lakes Says:

a 15-ish defense and a kicking game going from worst to mediocre should put this team in the 7-9 to9-7 range. If they really followed this team, they’d know that this team will likely go as far as the play of their RG & RT will take them.

  3. Greg Says:

Playoffs this year! Bank on it!

  4. The Buc Realist Says:

finally the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Again it will be the “Y” factor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why did they keep light weight???????????????

Why did they hire a whole coaching staff to fix all of the mistakes!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why did the sheep only think it was a coaching problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2019 will reveal answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans already know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Dapostman Says:

Like I said before no one is going to go out on a limb and pick the Bucs to do well until they actually do well. In 2016 with a slower roster than 2019 they went 9-7 and the talking heads had them in the top 10 in rankings to start 2017. We all know how that turned out. This is a nothing burger, again.

  6. Steven007 Says:

After a 9 and 7 season where all the players were apparently believing the headlines, I would prefer the Doom and gloom from the pundits. Let’s see what this team is made of.

  7. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

“Tear down in a YEAR OR TWO”?????? This team is tear-down ready NOW!! New QB in the next draft!!

  8. Steven007 Says:

Joe, I would be curious to know what on Earth in my previous post offended the jbf sensors. What’s the trigger there?

  9. Steven007 Says:

Postman, my previous post that seemingly has disappeared into The ether said essentially the same thing. I am in full agreement with you.

  10. Pittsshore Says:

Joe states: “Barring a long-term injury to America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, the Bucs should win more than four games“. I do believe the only chance at winning more games is if JW were injured. Regardless, Ryan Griffin will be the starting QB after the London game.

  11. Harry in Costa Rica Says:

2 wins? Miller is an idiot. Kirwin isn’t much better. The Bucs D is better. As Rob in Land O Lakes said, and Joe has said many times, if the D goes from 29th to 18, we should win at least as many games as last year, if not 1 to 3 more, right Kirwin? WTF?

  12. Harry in Costa Rica Says:

    you can’t fix stupid…

  13. D-Rome Says:

    6-10.

The people out there who think Dirk Koetter was a good coach, Jason Licht is a great GM, and the Bucs were a FGs away from 11-5 simply can’t comprehend the way neutral people see the Bucs. Kirwin and Miller have no dog in this fight. I mean, no one really roots against the Bucs on a national level. Most people in the media are apathetic on the Bucs and the only people that follow this team are die-hard fans.

When a fan base has to words like faith and hope, or phrases like, “If our rookies ball out” then you know the team has personnel problems. Jim Miller is partially correct. I think there is talent on defense, but there isn’t experienced talent. That’s a problem.

Also, Noah Spence getting cut should prove to all the slack jawed mouth breathers that coaching wasn’t the only problem with the team and that you can’t just coach up players that aren’t very good.

  14. Marine Buc Says:

If we don’t beat the 49ers at home on Sunday we probably won’t win more than 4 games.

  15. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

Since Gruden was fired this franchise has averaged 5 wins a year. Why would any educated analyst predict more? This team routinely kicks its fans in the nuts week after week. Ask yourself where this team improved on the field?

    OL? Nope
    DL? Nope
    RB? Nope
    QB play? Nope
    Coaching? Nope

Exchanging Koetter and Monken as playcallers to Leftwich is not impressive the OL coach is not working wonders and Arians is a semi retired figurehead. I’ll give you Bowles as an upgrade but not much else.

Stop crying about respect as this team has done nothing to earn it

  16. NOSBOS Says:

Here’s what I predict, we’ll easily handle the 9ers and all of sudden all these weak predictions will be over with. Just like magic, mark my words. After one week people will act they can’t quite recall they’re predictions. Man I hope BA is using this to his advantage. I don’t want us to be lovable,I want us to be villains.

  17. Tampabaybucfan Says:

In 2018 the Bucs went 5-11 losing 7 of those 11 games by 7 points or less….and one to Wash 16-3 when the offense had almost 500 yards.

Now, I don’t know about you but I think a lot of that is coaching….turnovers and a weak kicking game and defense…

If we can improve in those areas….I think we could win at least 3 more games this year…..8-8.

  18. tmaxcon Says:

    Rashad

Respect is earned on the field…this minor league franchise has had 2 good years in 42 bucs are receiving all the respect they deserve and have earned….

  19. Buc believer Says:

Wish I could say he is wrong but I can’t. As long as Licht is the GM we will suck. We will get a high draft pick and he will blow it.

  20. NOSBOS Says:

Hate and envy reaches its highest point right at the point they can tell you are about explode.😊they see us coming now and are attempting to quell the enthusiasm. Good luck with that.

  21. NOSBOS Says:

Watch how everyone in unison all of sudden gets quiet pertaining to the Bucs after Sunday. The media, people on this site the Joe’s. They’re going to try an ignore us for as long as they can but as the season progresses these same folks are going to begin to get all friendly and s@#$. Psst, lames.

  22. The Buc Realist Says:

    @NOSBOS

wrong on all accounts!!!!!! The Bucs are and are seen as Cannon Fodder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2019 will reveal answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans already know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. NOSBOS Says:

If we were as bad as they project us to be, why even waste the time to state it publically??? They hate you the most when they can easily tell you’ve become something great.

  24. NPRSageBoy Says:

2-4 wins sounds about right, but I’m sticking by my prediction of a 5-11 Three Peat.

  25. Tnoles Says:

Joe and his mad love for Kirwan, we all might as well stop cheering because Pat Kirwan said we are going to suck. It’s game week instead of filling your pages with nothing but negative stuff how about some positives for once jeeze… This is why it’s even getting harder to listen to the podcast just negative negative negative. Not sure why the Bucs would show up on Sunday because according to this website we suck and always will regardless the coaches and everyone else that’s been brought in

  26. SB Says:

I would be happy with 8 and 8 and keeping the regime in place.

Only 2 more days to sign up for the Pickem.

    http://fantasy.espn.com/nfl-pigskin-pickem/2019/en/group?groupID=99276

  27. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Our fans don’t want to see the truth. The team got worse during the offseason, not better. Four wins is a very reasonable prediction. Jameis can only do so much. The line sucks, the RBs suck, and there is nobody up front that can generate a pass rush. This team is certainly not “reloading.” They should be rebuilding now, but they are trying to market this crap. You can’t be a 5-11 team and have no money for free agency, and all but one of your draft picks are riding the pine to start the season. You guys are delusional to think we are even going to sniff the playoffs.

  28. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

6-10 season is going to be tough to get the 6, I think the panthers have some weaknesses and the saints offense will regress but their defense is one of the best and the falcons are going to be on fire this year. The bucs are 3-4 years away from being a playoff team and that is IF they fire Licht and get someone who wants to build the team from the inside out not the other way around

  29. Blogtalkfootball.com Says:

I listen to Jim and Pay every day,and anytime they talk Buccaneers, they say things that show they don’t follow the team in any way. They only bring up turnovers when talking about Winston and the only defensive player they talk about is JPP.

The only narrative anyone has for the team for the foreseeable future is that they are going to draft a QB in the next draft.

I hope we prove them wrong.

  30. Blogtalkfootball.com Says:

    &%$#% autocorrect!

  31. tmaxcon Says:

    Tnoles

bucs have had 2 respectable seasons in 42 years 1 under mckay and 1 under gruden are the joe’s supposed to make positive crap up to keep you happy??? this franchise is an embarrassment which has xfl level talent starting on the entire offensive line again I ask what is there to be positive about.

serious question for all the delusional optimists

What is more important reality and integrity or protecting your feelings????

  32. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    “But I think they’re defense.”

    Typo. It’s ‘their’.

No win predictions from me…just the possibility of the NFC Championship game…so obviously I disagree with these predictions.

  33. echase Says:

He is right, I have them at 3-13. With SF being one of the wins. But, Licht is the worst GM in the NFL, we needed pass rushers, he gets a linebacker and more corners, we need offensive lineman, he drafts a receiver that is 5’8″ 165 lbs. So, yes, 2-14, 3-13 and 4-12 is the truth and yes, the truth hurts.

  34. Pete Mitchell Says:

…”They only bring up turnovers when talking about Winston and the only defensive player they talk about is JPP.”

    That actually sounds about right.

And that’s exactly why the team is coming off back-to-back 5-11 seasons…

Unless and until, Jameis and the defense demonstrates that’s there is more to talk about, then this is what we got.

As fans we may be forgetting that this defense was amongst the all time worst over the past two years. It was terrible.

And now because Todd Bowles is gonna let the corners play press man it’s going to be better?!?! How many 45 yard completion on VHIII before Bowles either sits him him for Dean, or goes full Smitty and asks him to give the receivers a 10 yard cushion.

Also, Winston’s play to this point is about what you would expect from a back-up quarterback, great at times but terribly I nconsistent, and continually makes the same dumb mistakes over and over. Now, there may be a ton of reasons for that, but in the NFL people don’t care about reasons, they care about results.

I hope I’m wrong, but I’ll believe the team is good when I see it.

  35. gotbbucs Says:

Has anybody calling for 8-10 wins actually looked at the schedule?

This is a 5 or 6 win team, tops, and next year it will get blown up. If they win less than 8 games and then give Winston a $30+ million annual salary then I’m done.

  36. Louis Friend Says:

Predictions are almost universally forgotten once the season gets going. These will be too.

  37. BucEmUp Says:

    This is a joke

  38. tmaxcon Says:

how about an article joe about two of the dumbest gm’s facing off week 1….. lynch aka matt millen does a great job proving daily how worthless a stanford degree is…

  39. Billy_45 Says:

Yeah these guys have a 10% chance of saying I told you so and they jump.
Kinda like 75% of this board when commenting.

Easily win 8 games this year.

  40. Alanbucsfan Says:

    Dapostman👍

  41. Greg Says:

JAson Light is the whole problem. He brought in NO ONE to compete with HIS GUYS. No QB competition, NO O-linemen to compete with his draft pics or overpriced free agents. No pass rushers to compete with over priced Allen or Gholston. No Dbs to compete with the 4 corners and 2 safeties drafted in 2 years. NO running backs to compete with his boy Barber or 2nd round draft pick. This year is about proving his resume not wins. That being said I love Arians and Bowels so hopefully the coaching will weed out which players can actually play and rebuild the rest.

  42. Ben real Says:

Disrespect has to quit???? Win games lmao it’s not rocket science … Bucs have not proved anything yet

  43. Pickgrin Says:

    Buncha BS.

No way this team is worse than 6 wins with the talent on hand and with BA and Todd Bowles calling the shots…

I say 9-7 for the Bucs this year – and maybe even an end to the 11 year play-off drought.

Bring on the games! Time for BA and Co. to prove that coaching really DOES matter!

  44. Cobraboy Says:

This team won 5 games last season with the worst D and overall coaching in the league.

These guys think this years’ team is even worse?

  45. SenileSenior Says:

So if the Bucs do go 8-8 or 9-7 they will have performed way, way over expectations.

Would this demonstrate to the majority of the posters here that intangibles win the day over that which analysis reveals? Would superior motivation and leadership then be seen as part of superior NFL level coaching?

Would the majority be left with nothing to say?

    Somehow, I doubt that!
    ________________
Go Bucs!!! In BA I trust!

  46. tmaxcon Says:

BA’s BS will get the best of him and he will bail between week 7 and 9 remember he’s got the health excuse ready and waiting it’s not like he has not played that card before with more respected and better ran organization.

  47. D-Rome Says:

serious question for all the delusional optimists

What is more important reality and integrity or protecting your feelings????

tmaxcon, most of the optimists are probably younger than 30 and likely don’t remember when dominant defenses were the standard and expectation. The only exception to this is Bonzai who has child-like optimism in this team for some reason. He probably still writes letters to Santa addressed to the “North Poll.”

  48. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Billy, can you point out how the team got 3 wins better than last year? Is JPP breaking his neck and not available going to help the team? Is Hargreaves starting on the outside a great move seeing how he was relegated to only the nickel spot last season and wasn’t allowed to play on the outside. Did we bring in a competent RG and RT? Is losing DJax and Humphries a positive for the offense? Did we upgrade at the RB position. Are zero of our draft picks outside of White starters? I assume you are one of the guys who think the coaches will make all the difference. Ain’t gonna happen. Even the great Belicheck sucked in Cleveland when he had sub par players.

  49. tmaxcon Says:

    SenileSenior

bucs have never been know for their intangibles ever… they are better known for being the mentally weakest franchise in nfl…. so what makes this year so magical the bucs have discovered “intangibles”

  50. tmaxcon Says:

    d-rome

Bonzai who has child-like optimism in this team for some reason. He probably still writes letters to Santa addressed to the “North Poll.”

guaranteed he does and I bet his mom or wife still replies back to him from the north pole…

i’ll give the elf master credit for being consistent though… he’s never ever been right about anything yet he keeps going like the energize bunny with is nonsense.

  51. Cedrick Says:

Never pay attention to any of these silly predictions. It’s amazing how the NFL is one of the more volatile leagues with teams regularly sliding up and down in performance on a yearly basis but the majority of these so called “experts” usually end up just predicting teams to do pretty much exactly as well as they did the year before.

It’s even worse when it comes to a team with as little spotlight as the Bucs as the amount of “research” these guys do on a team like ours is little more than a 5-minute scan over the roster.

Saying that the defense hasn’t improved at all since last year just shows this man’s own ignorance. We actually look like a professional football team defense at least now as opposed to previous years.

  52. tmaxcon Says:

    d-rome

i was really looking forward to the 3 first round, 2 second, and 5 3rd round picks bonzi guaranteed that we would receive for cancer93 if he ever was put on trading block. I believe he stated every team in the league would jump at cancer93 and wed get multiple high picks and cancer93 get a pay raise…. LOL that was some funny s#!t he guaranteed lol….

  53. Ship Thief Says:

    Hahahahahahaha!
    Oh my!
    He’s back!
    Hahahahahahaha!
So funny! tmax talks about integrity hahaha!
    Oh my!
    Classic stuff!

  54. Ndog Says:

Who knows what the final record will be. But if anyone on this board doesn’t think Arians, a two time NFL coach of the year, isn’t better than Koetter who’s claim to fame prior to coming here was getting fired by Arizona State then you need to pick a different hobby. Coaching matters my friends, Koetter always played the game of my guys are better than yours which was foolhardy with this and most NFL rosters. This staff will put the players in positions to succeed which will breed confidence in themselves, their units and thus the team. Again what will the results be, who knows for sure, but this will be a better footballl team and if you don’t believe that then really why are you still here?

  55. Mark Alstott Says:

Someone posted above, when will the disrespect stop? It’ll stop when the team actually starts winning games. All of these low win projections aren’t that far off. Valid questions are asked, wheres the pass rush coming from? A QB prone to brain fartsand not protecting the football. Little talent in the running game, bad offensive line, a pretty weak secondary and lack of depth. Couple all that and NO cap space…Seems pretty obvious the root cause of the problem. A horrible GM.

  56. widerightandleft Says:

I think you all will be very surprised. The offense will be as good or better than last year. And the defense will be better than average and the d-line will be a terror ,especially in the back half of the season when JPP gets back.First half of the season 4 -4 and the last half 6-2.Playoffs !!!!

  57. tnew Says:

From now on, the name should be Pat, 4-12, Kirwan. Just so that we all remember his prediction for the team..

  58. tmaxcon Says:

I have no idea who those guys are Joe. Why would I care what they think. All media wants contraversi to start a conversation. Click bait away. LoL more idiots quick on the draw.

  62. Cobraboy Says:

The difference between Koetter and Arians is accountability.

We now know DJax was schooling Koetter, and Koetter allowed it. How do you think other players, who KNOW what was going on, reacted to it?

    Yes, coaching does matter.

And to sat there is not talent on this team is patently absurd.

  63. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    Tmaxcon

    Lol what’s good bredren?

  64. SenileSenior Says:

A positive attitude, a “can do” attitude are only starting points. This is true for the entrepreneur, the social advocate, the salesperson, the individual athlete and team efforts alike. You can’t just assume and everything becomes hunky dory. You must overcome inertia first and then act.

Take the Dale Carnegie Course. Read “The Power of Positive Thinking”. Attend a motivational seminar sometime.

Then you will come to understand the saying “Argue for your limitations and they will be yours.” You must start with an open mind irregardless of the past. You start with subliminal motivation. If you want a culture change you must start from the intangibles.

Watch how BA and his staff operate this year. I see similarities with how Dungy and Gruden went about their business already after just eight months.

  65. Tony LA Says:

That’s just lazy analysis because Tampa gets the least amount of national attention possible. The Bucs are not worse this year.

I agree that they are not markedly better, either.

On defense – we did improve personnel wise at almost every position except (gulp) defensive end.

On offense I would say there is a sliver of improvement but we are worse at WR and backup QB.

This entire season comes down to how much the improved defensive scheme and (hopefully) the kicking game are – and how that naturally leads Jameis to playing smarter football.

This season truly is predicated on that type of trickle down effect. I hope the Bucs lose the coin toss and SF gets the ball first on Sunday. That gives the perfect opportunity for a 3 and out tone setter. That’ll let Jameis calm himself and see FURST that he can be patient and simply take what the D gives him because his D is t going to be a pushover sieve any longer,

I hope the coaches put their egos in check and let the other team have the ball first.

  66. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

Ever see the show “Love It Or List It”? List it. Or the show “Fixer Upper”? It’s not. Or the show “Mission Impossible”? Hehehe…gotta have fun when our team sucks. Because the product on the field isn’t much fun.

  72. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

LUVMYBUCS…..definitely do not think they should trade down, unless winston is going to take a team friendly contract like $20 mil/year…then trade down and dont draft jacob eason…go get 5 OL..imagine if the bucs had laremy tunsila nd lael collins right now…which licht passed on both like 5-11 gms do

  73. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

$20 million a year. $25 million a year. Heck, FIVE million a year….and he will still NEVER win a Super Bowl…and that’s all that matters.

  74. BucsBandit Says:

DUMP WINSTON and rebuild. Giving him $30M/year is the OPPOSITE of what has to happen for this team to build a winner again. Salary Cap hell and an underachieving QB is 100% the wrong formula.

  75. DB55 Says:

I just want to know which one of your fantasy QBs is going to be successful behind this line? Lawrence? Tau? What makes you think if jameis can’t do it they will?

  76. Buc1987 Says:

    7-9.

  77. Buc1987 Says:

DB55 …they’ll be running for their lives just like Jameis!

  78. Hodad Says:

If we finish that badly it’s not the fault of the players, the coaches, or the G.M.. The blame would be squarely on the shoulders of the Glazers. We’ve gone through players, coaches, and G.M.’s, as long as the three stooges are making the calls, expect more of the same.

  79. JimmyJack Says:

With top level coaching this is a 11-5 roster & we now have top level coaching.

Get your hate out now you got only 4 more days til the Bucs silence you. On Sunday you will see a completely different defense then what you are used to and when we take it to the house on our first possession you might then understand.

    GO BUCS!!!

  80. JimmyJack Says:

BucBandit……Why don’t you see what he does playing for the greatest QB coach of our generation.

He hadn’t even played a game yet jeez.

  81. D-Rome Says:

Get your hate out now you got only 4 more days til the Bucs silence you.

No one here hates the Buccaneers. I think the team will win on Sunday. I root for 19-0 but I don’t see the team doing better than 6-10.

  82. LUVMYBUCS Says:

  83. jmarkbuc Says:

    DB55

you’re right..that’s why would should let JW walk, and use the salary as part of the rebuild.

The way we’re constructed, Tom Brady wouldn’t be successful. JW ain’t no Tom Brady, more like Bortles.

So get a couple cheap, young or journeyman QB’s and rebuild everything else..then go after the QB of your dreams.

Of course this plan only works if you have a real GM who is capable.

I don’t care what BA says..this thing is a burn to the ground and start over.

Like I said yesterday..the Bucs are the Motel 6 of the NFL… It’s starting to feel exactly like the Culverhouse/Phil Kreuger era.

  84. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    I hear you Dusthty

    No expectations for this year.

So there’s no possibility that he came out of retirement to collect some big fat paychecks? Knowing that if he doesn’t get results ..he wouldn’t be the first.

The thing is a rebuild from the FO on down.

  89. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

BucsFan727 – Predicting the Bucs go 4-12 doesn’t create controversy. If you poll NFL pundits and fans outside of Tampa Bay I am sure the consensus would be somewhere between 3-6 wins. Kirwin is making his prediction based on all the weaknesses he pointed out. If he wanted to create controversy he would predict the Bucs would go 14-2. That would grab headlines.

I bet they said the same thing after BA took over the 5-11 cardinals….

And they ate crow after the season…..

  91. Mark Alstott Says:

Problem with “burning it down” and rebuilding is, it’s been done what, 5 times in the past 15 years…the common denominator is the results always repeat themselves. Starts at the top. The triptards are never going to get it right, mainly because they just don’t know how. Sell the team to Debartolo, he already lives in Tampa, knows how, and what it takes to build a franchise.

  92. Tye Says:

Ever notice people’s prediction’s largely start with QB… Rogers, Brady, Brees could have questionable o-lines but their experience and level of QB play they have shown give fans faith they will play well regardless…
JW is no where near the level of these guys… He needs a team to carry him… only in ideal circumstances does JW show talent and only 1/2 of that time… He is a 50/50 ball passer which is losing football!

“Has anybody calling for 8-10 wins actually looked at the schedule?”

Have you ever seen a schedule be as easy or tough as predicted?

“i was really looking forward to the 3 first round, 2 second, and 5 3rd round picks bonzi guaranteed that we would receive for cancer93”

Nice try, poser. I never once said that. I did however, say that earlier in his career we could have gotten SOMETHING for him. The problem is that this team waited too long.

I used to like listening to Kirwin and Miller, then I realized, why. They spout about the obvious, Kirwin is a true front office guy, he rarely takes or sees a players side (take the Leveon Bell situation, where he just went crazy over a guy sitting out and not taking the money). Miller is more of a players guy, but they have their favorites to talk about, period. There are times people call in about the Bucs and they still think Ali Marpet is the center.

I’m hoping for the best, but resigned to accept the worst if a complete overhaul is needed. In a perverse way, it’s kinda exciting to think that we may have to start from scratch yet again…

  98. Joe in Michigan Says:

Arians first year with the Cardinals, they went 10-6 with Bradley Sowell as their starting left tackle. I expect the same results at Tampa Bay.

  99. ancientasbuc Says:

Both of these guys are status quo guys from the year previous. They are rarely out on a limb. I like listening to them but I don’t take it as gospel anymore. Kirwan is knowledgable, of course, but has an ax to grind with the Glazers over Lovie-still. Has never liked Jameis, either. If the season doesn’t go as they planned, they will be the first to hop on the wagon.

  100. Malcolm-Reynolds Says:

Who cares what Pat Kirwin or any other national (so-called) expert has to say about the upcoming season. For the most part these guys are lazy and just copy and paste past results as future predictions. Just got a goof I checked out what Mr. Kirwin had to say about the 2017 upcoming season and strangely he pretty much had all the teams that did well the previous season (including the Bucs ironically after a promising 2016 season) and all the bad teams doing the same. Boy these guys really go out on a limb. He had Green Bay winning it all that year and strangely they finished 7 – 9. Neither he nor anyone outside of Philadelphia had them winning the Super Bowl. NOR did he see the Jags coming from out of nowhere to go to the AFC Championship game. My point is this is a colossal waste of breath to argue with these nitwits who say NO ONE will be any better than the year before. All we can do is wait and hope that the Buccaneers can make all the naysayers eat a big poop-burger at the end of the season. I for one will let it play out before I dump the season in the trash can.
