Not Good For Bucs

September 1st, 2019

Update.

A week from today, the Bucs open the 2019 regular season by hosting the 49ers. And there’s word out of San Francisco that should get the attention of Bucs fans.

It seems No. 2 overall draft pick, defensive end Nick Bosa, who the 49ers didn’t think would play, has been given the green light to resume practicing reports long-time 49ers beat guy Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports.

Bosa suffered a severely sprained ankle in the first week of August.

Of course, 49ers general manager (and former Bucs great) John Lynch believes in a pass rush, something the Bucs have demonstrated over the past decade not to have much interest in.

Bosa was added to a 49ers defensive line that already had Dee Ford (who the 49ers traded a second-round pick for while the Bucs drooled over a MAC corner who isn’t starting) along with DeForest Buckner and Solomon Thomas.

When healthy, that could be the best defensive line in the NFC and we all know what happened when the Bucs last took the field and played a strong defensive line, don’t we? You know, the Browns, who nearly maimed America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston?

With the Bucs having a rough schedule, this team desperately needs to jump out to a 2-1 record. One of those wins pretty much has to come a week from Sunday.

If the Bucs have another jailbreak on their hands like they did against the Browns, that’s going to be a rough go of it for the Bucs to win that game.

Ok, so now let’s line up.

Its official the joes have never played sports at any level. Any competitor will tell you to bring your best stuff and lets go mano e mano. Competitors are not wishing tom brady does not play. Competitors want to go against brady. Thats how you measure yourself. The great michael jordan in come fly with me 2 said he felt cheated that magic had to retire at 31 because he said he watched magic pop champagne many times winning the title and he wanted to get to that level. He said he felt cheated because once he got there and finally won at the age of 28, magic would no longer be in the league to go against. So jordan’s words, his solution was to DOMINATE!!! I notice the joes always thank the football gods a key player or players from opposing teams are hurt when they play the bucs as if that gaurantees a win. Real COMPETITORS welcome ALL comers. In the words of the great ric flair…to be the man, you gotta beat the man. Im sorry the joes did not get that memo. Stop wishing other teams have injuries and start hoping the bucs can go out there and take on ALL comers.

  6. Ndog Says:

Good now they have no excuses.

  7. Christopher Schiefen Says:

    1) we didn’t have the cap room for Dee Ford
    2) and yeah, if we got rid of JPP we might’ve, I don’t want a guy who singlehandedly cost his team a chance at the Super Bowl (with of course the caveat that he doesn’t make insane errors off the field (JPP))
    3) the real right answer was Greedy Williams

  8. Christopher Schiefen Says:

Oh, and funny how Nick just can’t stay healthy and Solomon is a borderline bust, both too-3 picks as pass rushers. Again, it’s not the position, it’s the player, and both Jason and John have proven the ability to whiff on that aspect

  9. adam from ny Says:

fugg bosa…rap him in the mouth like you would gerald mccoy…whopp azz and protect this house!

  10. Pick6 Says:

JPP, Vea, Vinny curry, Robert Ayers, swaggy baker, Noah Spence, Nassib, Shaq, Suh…even michael freaking Johnson….to say licht has largely failed to build a pass rush under the prior 2 coaches is accurate. To say he is not interested is either oblivious or insincere

  11. adam from ny Says:

protect this house from lynch and his posse

  12. Mort Says:

Ndog – crushed it. Why give them excuses for when they lose? Be good enough to win regardless. Thats the goal, right?

  13. Easy Says:

This is good to get started against a solid D-line. That’s pretty much all they have on defense anyways.

  14. DCBucsfan Says:

well to shift the subject to 49ers offense, QB Mr Pornstar Jimmy G does not look good in the preseason games due to his ACL injury prior . So no excuse for our D-Linemen not to dominate his ass and also not to mention their former Vikings RB McKinnon went on IR. I thought they were gonna land Shady McCoy earlier when ya’ll were salivating over him. So no reason whats so ever to worry about week 1 at Ray Jay! Book It! I got Bucs for my survivor pool! ( don’t worry I got multiple entries ) lol

  15. Pittsshore Says:

Who cares? The dimensions of the field do not change. Let’s just worry about who we have on the field.

  16. Tval Says:

I may take a serious look at Gordon if I were the Bucs. I didnt see shady being a good fit and Melvin may be out to prove something

  17. CitruscountyBUC Says:

Joe is always talking about rookie pass rushers not really contributing much right away. That coupled with no training camp which Joe believes is necessary for a rookie (see Vita Vea). Don’t worry Joe it will be a Bucs win in week 1!

  18. JA Says:

Boss quit on his team last year after only three games. Ostensibly, this was because he didn’t want to get hurt before the NFL Draft.
Then he gets drafted and gets hurt, playing zero preseason games.
Yeah, he’ll be ready to play … unless, of course, he decides to quit on the 49ers to avoid injury before signing his second, higher paying, contract in 4-5 years.

  19. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

It might be bad news for the Bucs to see a healthy Bosa, but it would be worse for San Fran to go against Vita Vea. Hope this is the case and Vita can play this weekend.

  20. rrsrq Says:

Dam man, didn’t we go through this last year, who cares who is on the other side. If Chris Conte wouldn’t have got stiffed to the ground the Bucs would been 3-0 to start the season when no one gave them a chance –
That’s why they play the game –
    Any Given Sunday –
You play to win the game, regardless who straps up on the other side
This ain’t the dam big stick carriers – we got winning a ring on our mind

  21. JimbobBucsFan Says:

Beaten down, hapless Buccaneer fans and cynical local pundits alike forget that the goal every year in the NFL for every team is to win a Super Bowl.

    I agree wholeheartedly, Webster.

You don’t become a competitor by beating only the weaker teams. You try to bring in talent and coach them well. You supply leadership and motivate your team to playing better than the best.

I am happy that we are in a tough division. I am happy that we have been handed an “unfair” schedule. Once this young team has been tested by fire we can use the core group to upgrade to COMPETITOR status next year. Only then can fan hope be transformed into realistic expectation. A true culture change.

  22. BucEmUp Says:

You know why Tom Brady always has such a clean jersey? It aint because his Oline is all world every year. Its playacting. ITS COACHING!!!!!

I trust Arians 100% Leftwhich on the other hand???? Designing plays tho get the ball out quick sprinkled in with some down field shots. You can’t drop back the entire game and launch it went y yards when the pass rush is strong. Each game plan on offense needs to be designed based on the opponent, not what you feel like YOU want to do.

And if its not working out in the first 20 minutes of play, you adjust. Something previous coaching never did on either side of the ball. Take what the defense is giving you. I am confident in Bowles, I am confident in Arians and we FINALLY haver kicker. My fear is that the offense will regress from Leftwhich calling plays. I hope Bruce doesn’t let it continue too long if it fails. If it works GREAT!!! But my chips are going on the offense not looking quite right until Bruce is calling all the shots. It’s his bread and butter.

  23. Todd Says:

We open 6-0…with or without Bosa.

  24. DCBucsfan Says:

@ JA , I wouldn’t be surprised if Bosa quit his NFL career before it starts and go join Trump’s wall welders 2020 campaign ! Atleast his brother for Chargers is professional !

  25. Boogie Says:

Lol let’s be scared of Bosa lol cmon Joe’s what king of pu55y mentality is that? Smh

  26. Ben real Says:

Bucs are not better than San Fran

  27. RustyRhinos Says:

Good SF can bring their best to takehomeasack of ass whooping.
Bring it on 49ers. Time for Winston to put that franchise label away or wear it on his chest like a target. Show us what you can do!
    Go Bucs!

  28. DCBucsfan Says:

yet another awaiting moderation ..so I can’t talk about the subjectee of the article that’s ve been confirmed? Based on what is my comment needed to be filtered and by whom? Unreal!

  29. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

Marshall Newhouse should be picked up immediately to add veteran depth at G (our RG sux by the way) and he plays T on the Oline as well. Trading for an inexperienced and oft injured T from Steelers is not going to cut it. Football games are won and lost in the trenches , and the Browns game exposed our glaring weaknesses on the Oline. Failure to execute veteran pickups at positions of need after the last cut is a huge deficiency under LICHT BRAIN.

  30. OneBuc55 Says:

    Really Joe? Nick Boss…smh

  31. Slugglife Says:

    Ben

How do you know? We haven’t played one regular season game yet.

  32. Snook Says:

A rookie DE in his first game? Nof scared.

  33. Go Bucs 72 Says:

Nick Boss is more concerned with how his hair looks than playing football.

  34. WyomingDude Says:

Perhaps the Slime will be strong a week from today, even though Boss is just now practicing, and Dee Ford is still recovering from minor knew thing according to last Thursday update….BUT they’re not the ’85 Bears people!? Their LB corps isn’t much to speak of even with Kwon’ s hurt self, so you keep Auclair in on either side of line in max protect routinely during the first half anyway to settle Jameis and Oline in to the game, call a fair amount of screens and bootlegs to counteract the rush periodically, then if screen game and/or run game begins to develop toward second quarter, then take some shots downfield! And that will back them off some. Just need some dump passes right behind/over the rush, and max protect for a while.

    Calm down people.

  35. Cobraboy Says:

Good, Lord, “the sky is falling, a rookie with no practice time is going to play.”

    That’s some weak sauce there.

This “edge rusher” mantra is almost a fetish…

  36. DR FEELGOOD Says:

More importantly than Bosa being back is Mike Evans, Lavonte David, Vita Vea, and hopefully Mike Edwards will be back. We couldn’t afford Dee Ford, and to be so down on Murphy-Bunting as a rookie that’s yet to play a regular season game is premature. The biggest X-factor for us is if Vea can be easy to go. That changes so much for what out defense can do. Pretty Boy Jimmy G is gonna have his own pass protection issues to contend with. Our magical season with our first playoff birth under Dungy started with a home beat down of the Niners. Funny how history can repeat itself.

  37. AKickInTheBucNuts Says:

So, it’s so bad on the Bucs, Joe is fretting over playing against NFL quality opponents.

  38. mark2001 Says:

If we played them in the later half of the season, it would be something to watch. But first game of the season…no practice…just clearing physically? That is a reach.

  39. 813bucboi Says:

9ers saying the same thing about VV and LVD!!!

    GO BUCS

  40. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

No way Bosa is 100 percent if he severely sprained his ankle a few weeks ago, particularly if it’s a high ankle sprain.

  41. mike johnson Says:

They need quite a bit more than Bosa to beat the Bucs. We should not have a problem beating them. Its the games after that I’m worried about.

  42. BringBucsBack Says:

“… Dee Ford (who the 49ers traded a second-round pick for while the Bucs drooled over a MAC corner who isn’t starting)…”

This says so much about everything Bucs and Licht’s incompetence.

  43. BA FAN Says:

You can bet BA has plenty of plays the 49ers have never seen just designed to beat all of the mismatches against the 49ers that we have had two weeks to practice. We have a new OT who has been developed by the Steelers for three years who played both LT and RT in college and who was trained by the Steelers to be their swing Tackle just in case either of out Tackles have trouble. Bring it on!

  44. Losinghope Says:

Am I the only to notice how hard Joe goes at everyone ACCEPT jaymiss Winston?

  45. BA FAN Says:

Hey Joe, how about an article on who has made the Buc’s Practice Squad.
