“Really Tough On Me”
August 19th, 2019The clock is ticking on rookie receiver Scotty Miller’s hamstring and he’s feeling the urgency, so he said today.
The sixth-round pick out of Bowling Green has been watching from the sidelines with a bad hamstring — and while lots of undrafted free agent receivers are having strong preseason performances.
Miller was back practicing today following public hints from Bucco Bruce Arians in previous weeks that Miller best get his butt on the field.
While he’s not 100 percent, so he told local media today, Miller said the goal is to play Friday against the Cleveland Browns.
“Hopefully I can get out there on Friday, get my first NFL game under my belt,” Miller said, adding that he’s been trying to “learn mentally” as a spectator so he can pick up where he left off in training camp.
“It’s been really tough. I’ve been here for like three months. We’ve been working really hard. And then to tweak a hamstring really a week before the first game is really frustrating. Really tough on me but I’m just trying to keep my spirits up.”
Joe has to put long odds on Miller to make the Bucs roster. He can’t cover punts or kicks, and there’s no evidence that he’s a return man, though the Bucs seem to be still searching for one. Right now, he’s an undersized, inexperienced, fast guy with a bad wheel.
Those are usually the types of players that will find their way back to the practice squad.

Hopefully he isn’t another Kenny Bell situation.

“Is this picture of our new member of our new boy band?
This is why we dont win. Kobe wants to draft illiterate felons who cant spell GED. Kobe wants a 21 year old who has 6 kids with 6 different women
Kobe wants to hear about thugs, child support, orange suits, sentencing not
the new “Boys by the Bay” boy band”
Kobe Faker

Scotty Miller will make the final 53…..or, he will ruin his hamstring by playing too early Fri and be stashed on the IR……

Miller is just the kind of player Belichick likes he’ll develop him!

He might make the roster but he will be inactive.

Practice squad

Saw after practice today Miller said he was going to playing ST and specifically gunner on punt coverage this Friday. Hope he can show something.

If we want a short, slight, fast receiver with good hands, we already have one in Schnell. I don’t see us keeping two on the roster with all of the tall, strong skilled players that we have already.
Neither Schnell nor Miller will last on the practice squad. Most teams aren’t stacked at wide receiver like we are. I’d be trying my damndest to find a trade partner.

Dammit Kobe. That was effing hilarious.

Hamstrings are not an injury that very many guys are able to play through. I hate seeing pressure put on someone to play with this injury. Most of the time, it just gets worse, and the team would have benefited more from allowing it to heal 100%.
One of the only exceptions I remember in the NFL was Emmitt Smith. I remember him playing quite often with pulled hamstrings–to the point that I would cringe every time he ran the ball, expecting him to have to get carted off. It always amazed me.

Why can’t he cover punts or kicks? I ask because that’s the first time hearing this.

Miller should start honing his skills in the broadcast booth. I read a couple of his journals and there is talent there. No way he makes this Bucs roster. Old Bo-Bo starting to make a few..splash plays in preseason. This does not bode well for Miller who is still injured.

That practice squad is sure getting crowded. Let’s see, the 2nd rounder, two 3rd’s, a 4th, 6th and 7th.
Then you got Rock Hudson and Mach Schnell.
At least the 1st rounder will make the 53. Maybe, the 5th round kicker.
How many more years do we have the Gumpster Fire for now???

I come from an era where players would lie to get on the field and wait until the coaches took them off the field. I wonder who many players are waiting to heal in NE?

dude will make the practice squad nothing more Bobo will be our #4–he has good rapport with Jameis anyway wish he could return a little better with all the penalties and potential injuries we should just accept the 25yd line

The Patriots are riddled with injuries right now.
Players can try lying to the Doctors but it doesn’t matter if they can’t pass the test. Coming back early from a hamstring injury is the worst thing to do for you and the team.

If I read the comment section correctly, someone on here said that the two 3rd rounders were going to be on the Buc’s practice squad. Right now that draft day trade of the 3rd round pick to the LA Rams looks like a clear Buc’s win.
Dean and Edwards look like much better pro’s than Darrell Henderson who the Rams took with the Buc’s pick. That Henderson kid still has not learned how to switch hands. He only carries the ball with his left arm. I am glad the Buc’s did not reach after him like some on this site have suggested.
We needed defense much more than offense and both of these 3d round picks look like they will be contributors to a better defense this year.
Go Buc’s. Ok to hate on the haters on this site when they have so little to support their hate for our 3rd round picks.

Remember when Joey Galloway had a few setbacks after trying to return too soon from a hamstring injury. We needed his speed also. I believe SMiller is a diamond in the rough. Bellichick is licking his chops n waiting because…he knows that “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”.

Maybe the real message is even though the Hammie isn’t healed, get out there, push through the injury or pull it enough to make the PUP.
