How Comfortable Is Brate In The New Offense?

His decision was made after the 2017 season.
Cameron Brate would not have surgery on his injured hip and would play through the pain in 2018.
That’s what he told local reporters today as he spent roughly 15 minutes at the podium, just hours before the Bucs were to start their first training camp practice.
For the first time in over a year, Brate is fully healthy. But it came with spending an entire spring on the sidelines while Bucco Bruce Arians’ new offense was being installed.
With Brate unable to take the field, one has to wonder how well he was able to learn the new offense.
Brate said today that while nothing compares to being on the field, he thinks he was able to get himself prepared ahead of camp.
JoeBucsFan.com: Cam, being that you did miss so much time over the course of OTA’s and minicamp, and that you weren’t able to get on the field, what is your comfort level in this new offense now that you’re able to get back on the field?
Cameron Brate: Right, yeah, it’s definitely different not physically being out there. You know, I tried to do the best I could. [Tight end] Coach Rick Christophel did a really good job with me, you know, working extra, trying to make sure I was kind of on the same page with all the new installs we did during the spring. But it’s definitely different trying to learn the offense when you’re 10 yards behind the play. You can kind of see everything versus when you’re at the line of scrimmage, so I was really thankful I was able to go out there Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday with the rookies and you know, get those first couple reps out of the way with them so then I could have definitely some more familiarity with the offense today and, you know, going forward in training camp.
Brate’s availability and familiarity in the offense will be critical going forward. Arians has said many times he has never had tight ends like Brate and O.J. Howard on his roster. Devin White said yesterday that defenses can’t cover them both.
If the Bucs’ offense is to take off this season, the tight ends will be a big reason why.
So, while Brate may not be entirely familiar with the offense now, he’s going to be given every opportunity to get familiar.

“Chronic Brates career is finished
shouldn’t be on the field and taking Auclairs snaps
Brate is a glorified Alan Cross”
Kobe Faker

Brate is sharp as a tack. He will be back to firm in no time. Piece of cake.

Brate is unrated and unappreciated because he was not drafted. He would be the number 1 TE on most teams. OJ is just a freak athlete.

I liked Alan Cross. Cross was not the most gifted athlete, but he was a football player.

Gonna love to see you eat your words Kobe faker. You need to take that brate hate n move away from bucs land. There’s no place for you in Tampa. You’re such an idiot. I almost feel sorry for you. Fans are supposed to support the team n it’s pplayers. You clearly don’t.

One of the reasons Brate was successful is because he was able to twist his body to haul in some of Jameis tight window passes. He deserves respect for that,Kobe.
That said Auclaire will probably get more snaps because his blocking abiity, but he still has to prove that he can be as efficient as Brate on the seam patterns that
both Jameis and BA like.

I believe Auclaire will also push Brate in competition in part because he has a chance to get much better in the passing game. We have often kept 4 TE’s on the roster so we will see what the future holds for Brate who carries a hefty salary
tht can add to our salary cap issues.

Trolls are troll. As long as you guys address his comments….. nuff said. Ignore the idiots and trolls as most comments don’t dignify a response. Just a thought 😂

Somewhere in Lakeland Kobe is staying up late coming up with his personal “witticism’s. Some are a bit funnier than others. But I am not sure he takes himself as seriously as others do on this site.

Is anyone at training camp ?
Any good/ bad updates ?
Man. I am keeping fingers crossed. All ready there are some injuries on other teams in nfl
I think the giants may come looking for one of our talented receiving group

You’re right, Bob, Kobe’s alright. The fella’s commenting probably haven’t read much of his takes. He keeps it witty.

I don’t know if it means a lot learning a football offense but you would think a Harvard grad like Brate could handle it OK.
Brate is great……OJ is spectacular…….together they are unstoppable.
We have tremendous insurance at the position if one goes down to injury.

Hard to believe people wanted to trade him this off season…

No doubt guys. Can we start off a post without the first couple of comments not being toxic. Seriously fellas, the moderator “Joe” is simply spilling tidbits, kernels and sprouts to guys (like us) that keep coming back here for honest Bucs updates/news about the team. Cameron has done nothing but produce for this team and yet the shade thrown at him is most definitely un-proportional with the production level. I mean really……..
