“There Won’t Be Any Damn Music”

July 25th, 2019

“Jason, B.A. isn’t messing around.”

Bruce Arians’ evaluation is finished.

He considered what he saw in Patriots camp and what he heard from those around the league.

The verdict is in. No music at Bucs training camp.

This ain’t no party.

Arians was at One Buc Palace today addressing media and he made it official. “There won’t be any damn music,” he said of his 2019 training camp before recommending ear plugs for children who will attend.

This is nothing new for Arians teams, but he said previously he would consider music at practices. As as CBS broadcaster last year, Arians watched about half of all NFL teams practice and was stunned how prevalent music was at those sessions. He even told a story of how Bill Belicheat advised him it’s been going on in New England for years on a limited basis.

Over the last two years at One Buc Palace, Bucs officials actually enhanced the sound system at practice for the purposes of pumping music. That obviously didn’t help.

Outkast or AC/DC thumping — or not thumping — through a special teams session shouldn’t win or lose a football game. But Joe does like the change and the enhanced coaching and focus it likely represents.

the last 2 regimes presumed maturity and self-motivation from the professional adults on the team. clearly that was a mistake. i’m with bruce, and i’m sure they can earn the right to ask for things by proving they are accountable and focused on the goal this season. music, ping pong tables….those are not distractions for the right kind of player. most bucs still need to prove they are such a player and Arians doesn’t want to go down by blindly trusting his players to be pros like his predecessors

  2. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

    Focus would help

Bucs were the 2nd most penalized defense in the league can’t give away free yards and be bad

  3. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

    Another one bites the dust!

  4. Buccaroo Says:

I don’t think yelling over the music gets through to guys. With no music now, if a coach yells, it will be cause he’s pissed, not cause the music was loud.

  5. stpetebucsfan Says:

Like most here I have music pumping through my earplugs when I work out. I’m still able to concentrate…”somewhat” on my technique…I take lifting as a sport and try to maintain form and the right sets/reps schedules. But it can still be a distraction to total concentration. But loafing through a set is not the same as missing out on instruction.

BA has made the right choice.

  6. TOM Says:

Turn out the lights the partys over.

  7. Buddy Says:

Granpa already showing he’s not in tune with today’s NFL. Only a matter of time until he loses the locker room like #KLUELESSKOETTER. Players better watch out for the support staff snitches left over from KLUELESS staff like the equipment manager and video guy.

    Smh
I don’t know about you but with a 6 figure salary motivation does not require the following:
    Music
    Ice cream
    politeness
    foul language
    Teammates

Just earn your money! Do your job!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!

  9. No Risk It No Biscuit Says:

    These are adults. Right!?!?!?

The party is over. You don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here!

    LOL..those clinging to “coaching”……
Talent > Coaching %95 of the time

  12. Bucnjim Says:

There is a locker room full of music for before and after. When you are at work guess what you are expected to work. This is one of those culture things where players think they can come to Tampa sip Rum Runners on the beach while listening to tunes. That is pretty much the way things have been since Raheem Morris. Why do you think Kiffin had success and no one else? He wasn’t their friend or buddy. He was on their A$$ all day every day!

  13. Hodad Says:

This is music to my ears! No music!

  14. WyldKat Says:

One of our previous free agents humped a tree.

There will no presumption of maturity until the on-field product improves. Soon. Ish.

No more dance party for Hargreaves

  16. doctor_berto Says:

AlteredEgo, how do you explain the Pats then?

  17. pelbuc Says:

Play like children, treat em like children. Also, a new GM (hopefully) will get more mature players.

  18. Greg Says:

Did not realize the defensive end that Green Bay just released was a pro bowler last year. Why the Bucs are not bringing him in is beyond me. Get rid of JPP free up some Space and sign this guy who already played in a 3-4 defense

  19. Bucsfanman Says:

Focus! Plain and simple. You might overlook music at the practice of an 11-5 team, NOT a 5-11 team!

  20. Race to 10 Says:

If they cant win under this staff then licht is in trouble and more vets should be purged to clear cap space and build a roster of more mentally sound players.

Dr. he doesn’t explain things he just shows, up makes ridiculously stupid comments them leaves, get used to it as it is a daily thing.

  22. Ndog Says:

On a separate note does anyone find it ironic that as soon as the Rays made their idiotic announcement about the split cities deal they feel apart in every way possible. Karma is indeed a bit*h, but it couldn’t have happened to a bigger jack a** in Stewart Jackwagon. Now Snell is hurt, KK is hurt, Diaz is hurt and at the time of their little lying game they were soundly in the playoffs, now they will easily finish 3rd or worse in the DIVISION. That’s what you get for being a lying, underhanded *****”**!!!!

  23. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

The only music I’d want to hear is “Taps” to signify the end of The Licht Weight Era.

  24. Ndog Says:

To be clear I feel bad for the players that are hurt I was just referring to the organization as a whole.

  25. 813bucboi Says:

    great news!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!

Are we to expect all palm trees to be removed as well? (cough-swaggy-cough)

  28. gobuxfla Says:

Make the team earn it. You suck, you need to hear the coaches tell you you suck. You go 6-3 in the first 9 games, you get music. You go 2-7, you get wind sprints.

Play for your money and fun, not the other way around.

Couldn’t agree more about old Stu. I get that sports is now a business…America frees businessmen to make as much as their greedy hearts desire…and Stu went for the whole enchilada here in St. Pete. And yes NDOG Stu is a

“That’s what you get for being a lying, underhanded *****”**!!!!”

Stu was trying to emulate his buddy who built Camden yards and then flipped the team for a huge profit.

Most folks never saw the plans for the downtown theft of our waterfront which would have totally changed downtown St. Pete forever…right as we finally have a great downtown.

Stu’s plans included not only hosing us for paying for taking our waterfront…but he also included the Beach Drive part of the facility as retail which of course HE would control and lease!

After all that time telling everyone what a great location downtown St. Pete would be for baseball…after the rejection within 90 days they released some new site possibilities and said downtown St. Pete was a horrible place for a stadium.

Reality is that Stu wants the Rays in Brooklyn for his own sentimental reasons as well as the fact that it’s probably the best available baseball market left in the country. Yanks and Mets will never let that happen though.

Vegas or Hartford my best guess. Montreal? They’ve already FAILED once.

Meanwhile according to Statistica 37% of fans watch football…11% watch Basketball…9% Baseball and 7% soccer as of ’14.

IE…approximately ten % care about MLB…why should we sacrifice our downtown for ten %? And don’t start with economic gain…every survey done on this subject disproves that concept.

  30. Joe Says:

America frees businessmen to make as much as their greedy hearts desire

Let Joe correct that for you.

“America frees anyone to make as much as their greedy hearts desire

  31. Buccaneerscotty Says:

I wouldn’t call that crap music anyway imo

  32. PriMech54 Says:

AlteredEgo… yah, okay… why don’t you ask Jared Goff if he’d rather have Jeff Fisher or Sean McVay.

    This isn’t the NBA, buddy.
