Jameis And The War On Meat

July 4th, 2019

Talks red meat

The great Fourth of July tradition of grilling burgers and dogs and eating too many will not be enjoyed by America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston.

It seems Jameis has given up beef and pork. so Jameis told the CBS-TV 42 cameras during a recent Alabama fishing retreat with kids.

“That [deer] jerky. I’m just happy it ain’t no beef or pork so I can actually eat it,” Jameis said. “So, it’s really good.”

During a spring interview with WDAE-AM 620, Bucs guard Ali Marpet explained that he has given up beef to cut inflammation, so he can recover faster and be in better shape.

Joe doubts the two are unrelated. There’s a good chance there is an anti-red-meat advisement coming from someone within the walls of One Buc Palace.

Joe’s not knocking it. There may be no better deal — or quality — around than the happy hour sushi at Pisces in Dunedin, and Joe’s been known to mow it down with great passion.

Whatever beef chatter is happening at One Buc Palace, it’s not resonating with center Ryan Jensen.

His Twitter followers know that one of Jensen’s hobbies is sharing his love of red-meat cuisine. Joe expects Jensen will be a busy man on social media today. Hopefully, his inflamed back is all healed.

    Joe,

Maybe GMCs recent conversion to an all vegan diet is the source.
Or titans players, they have more a few vegans on the team and a lot of trainers have noticed .

Q: What do you call a vegan guy who likes to pleasure himself?

    A: A non-dairy creamer.

    Happy 4th of July!

If two vegetarians get in an argument, is it still considered a beef?

Sexual assault accusations, interceptions, terrible grammar. I’ve looked the other way this entire time. This is too much, I’m out.

    Joe—

Can you please do some investigative journalism using your sources to ferret out the likely outcome of the JPP injury and how it will impact our team? I’m particularly interested in the likely options, and how each impacts our cap. He broke his neck. There’s nothing to ferret out. He’ll be re-evaluated multiple times. If he shows up for training camp — and stays there — it will be the first real indicator that he has a chance to return this year. –Joe

I’m betting there’s almost a zero probability that he will return this year. Having fractured my C7 in a football game, I can tell you, rehab is one thing, getting mentally right to wreak havoc without fear is another.

I love him, but hope we part ways expediently and use the cap savings to improve our team elsewhere. Signing Devin White might be a good idea too. I don’t think the current offer on the table if 3 purebred horses and a sexy goat is enough. But I may be wrong.

Seriously, do you have any inside scoop insight that you can share re: JPP?

  11. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

My family has been vegetarian for a decade. It’s really not a big deal. The main thing is the satisfaction that you know that no animal was killed so that I could eat today.

If you have ever killed an animal, slaughtered it and fed it to your family then you will know what I mean.

    Happy 4th, Bucfans.

  12. Bob in Valrico Says:

    Joe,
You managed to write a story on Jameis swearing off red meat and ended with a
dig on Ryan Jensen and ended with his inflamed back.

I’ m thinking you could write a whole story on Jensen , his one year experience at center and how he got to be the highest paid center in the league. No wonder we have salary cap issues.

  13. D-Rome Says:

Perhaps I should do the same thing to cut down on my own body’s inflammation.

  14. Bob in Valrico Says:

edit: ended with a dig on Ryan Jensen and his inflamed back.

  15. Wright Says:

We really are a nation, or fanbase, of idiots. The man said beef or pork, last I checked that doesn’t mean he’s a vegetarian and many other meats are still on the table. Education system continues to fail us.

  17. Magadude Says:

I hope the team dietician is on board and doing the prescribing, and if so, they will surely work this diet into the camp menu at Advent Health TC. Also hope none of the players try to get an edge with some sort of crazy supplement that is not approved by the NFL. That’s the last thing we need–PED suspensions.

    ——————-

Your first sentence is an incomplete sentence. A complete sentence requires a subject and a verb.

  19. Magadude Says:

@Wright…I’d not expect the players to know much about it all (though some very well might)…which is to my point about the team dietician being heavily involved. Oh, not just Americans, and we’ve progressed. I remember reading in Ireland they used to encourage pregnant women to drink Guiness beer because of the nutritional value.

“That [deer] jerky. I’m just happy it ain’t no beef or pork so I can actually eat it,”

Yes, it’s poor grammar, no matter who says it, no matter the color. No need to pull the card. But it doesn’t matter in this case–he’s a football player, not an English teacher. Plus, it’s not like he’s out getting supsended or anything again.

Going after the poster again for making a comment (that points out an accuracy) on a comment board. Sheesh.

  27. BringBucsBack Says:

The fish that kid had on his hook was not a bass OR a species of bass I’ve ever seen.

Meat consumption has FAR-reaching effects that include health, economic, ecological, even moral implications. We should all consciously & earnestly examine our diets and their effects.

  28. Clodhopper Says:

I disagree with this whole heartily. You want to cut inflammation, look no farther than cutting bread and sugar.

  29. Mike Johnson Says:

A little beef or pork in moderationis not gonna kill you….in very little moderation of course. The no 1 killer in america hands down though has got to be Sugar. Its in Deeyham near everything you buy and its like an epidemic. Killing us ..I mean You..daily.

  30. Bucnjim Says:

Wow Clodhoppers is 100% correct!!! Inflammation has zero to do with protein intake. That means ANY PROTEIN including fish, nuts, beef, pork, beans, shellfish, poultry, and certain veggies. What does cause inflammation is sugar, bread, pasta, rice, certain sweeteners, all candy, soda, and every single thing on the McDonalds menu.

  31. Bucnjim Says:

Jameis I’ve got such high hopes for you but you know what happens when you stop eating meat (of any kind)? You turn into the worlds biggest V^RGINA. Do not follow the eating habits of Gerald McCoy!

  32. donuts Says:

Jensen will be the first guy on IR

  33. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Yes,

Pointing out poor grammar coming from a COLLEGE EDUCATED, first round draft pick is racist.

    Right?

    Crazy, crazy times indeed.

  34. DoooshLaRue Says:

…..Oh, and he’s teaching children life skills/values too.

    Classic.

  35. D1 Says:

    Maga,

A crazy supplement????? You mean steroids of GH? Those don’t end up in a supplement you buy a gnc. Contrary to players press releases after testing positive, blaming gnc or red bull. Tests are laser focused. Deer jerky is not a banned substance.
