It’s Father’s Day and the Bucs sort of have a new daddy in Bucco Bruce Arians. He’s older than every former Tampa Bay head coach since Sam Wyche.
But the true father figure for the Buccaneers remains the quiet, generous spirit of Malcolm Glazer. It hasn’t been lost on the current edition of Team Glazer.
Back in March, Arians hosted his annual massive golf tournament and pre-event concert benefiting his foundation that has long been devoted to helping children stuck in the legal/foster system in Arizona, and the volunteer advocates that represent them.
At the time, Arians shared a story about Team Glazer that didn’t make headlines.
Arians said Team Glazer asked him if he had a lead sponsor for the event. No, replied Arians. “You do now,” was the response from Team Glazer, per Arians.
The price tag on the presenting sponsorship was $75,000.
Joe thinks that’s pretty cool. Sure, Team Glazer spending 75 grand is about the equivalent of Joe spending $40 on a sushi feast, but it’s still an impressive move right after ownership agreed to hire what might be the most expensive coaching staff in the NFL.

I think this team has had “Daddy” issues for the last 9 years…..,,
I mean we had a fruity uncle that liked to buy the kids ice cream …………

It’s a great story and whether you like the Glaziers or not they do a lot of charity work. The reason Malcolm Glazier is missed so much is because in the business world (and the NFL is big business) extremely hard decisions need to be made. Extremely unpopular decisions that will make enemies, hurt feelings, and overall piss off a bunch of people but HAVE to be made nonetheless. The sons seem to be more worried about public opinion, perception, character issues, and for whatever reason obsessed with the face of the franchise. Let the players prove themselves before plastering their faces on the stadium or billboards.

Team Glazer is to be commended for their charity work. I wish they knew more about football operations.

Don’t worry, BA will teach the Glazer Boys a lot and if they are smart they will make him the President of the Bucs when he retires as Head Coach so he will continue to help them with football decisions. That will be the key to keeping his family of Coaches here to develop future Buc players. BA already is influencing and developing Licht into a much better GM. Don’t forget that the reason a small school OG developed so quickly into an NFL OG is that Logan Mankins took Marpet under his wise wing as a rookie and quickly taught him how to be a starter. He knew Warhop couldn’t develop anybody. BA’s Coaches can develop a lot of our players this year!

If for any reason after this year someone hires away one of his OL Coaches Licht should suggest to BA to hire Logan Mankins to take his place.

One of the problems with Licht’s drafting is he used to be a scout with New England which has all kinds of Assistant Coaches who know how to develop rookies. Then he was a scout who was successful with Arizona Coached by BA with lots of Assistant Coaches who also were great at developing players. So Licht came here and brought in more players in the raw but the Head Coaches here didn’t have Assistant Coaches who could develop anybody such as Warhop who then failed to develop Licht’s picks who then left the Bucs as busts. That is why BA looked at our Roster and knew he could develop all the raw talent sitting here recruited by Licht just waiting for development.

This picture is so funny of GrandpaArians and his step kids. DrunkLicht can’t help but smile since he gets the year off of work while grandpa makes all the decisions and takes all the heat.

The Glazers are low key, not exactly charismatic, but are heavily engaged, and we should be happy they don’t Jerry Jones it. It’s always been fun to observe them and read the tea leaves though, and some players like ASJ, Talib, J. Stevens, and Winston should be happy they as they are. They tolerate much that other owners would not. I remember meeting Darci GK for the first time…years ago. Didn’t recognize her. Was going up the elevator at a team hotel and she was talking to one of our Bucs greats. I was focused on him. He got off and we continued up in the elevator. My small talk was “So are you here with the Bucs?”
“Yes” with a smile. Never said “Uh, I own them” or “Seriously?” or anything like that. Happily had the chance later to apologize for not recognizing her. She was great with that.

On paper it cost nothing. That’s what big firm CPA’s are paid for but it was a nice gesture nonetheless. One I’m sure BA was surprised with.
