Suh Or GMC?
June 9th, 2019Interesting information from a former NFL running back breaking down defensive tackles.
And while we know Maurice Jones-Drew doesn’t work for the Bucs and doesn’t cover them daily from Tampa, what we don’t know is who MJD talks to. Pretty good guess MJD has an impressive contact list on his smartphone and likely has the digits of NFL players and coaches.
MJD seems to believe that not only has new Bucs defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh transformed himself as a player both before and after the whistle, but at this point in their careers, MJD thinks Suh gets the edge over former Bucs stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy. MJD explains why in the video below.
Pretty interesting chat from MJD on how Suh has adjusted his play partly due to Father Time’s unbending deadlines.
Oh, and MJD doesn’t believe it is fair to call Suh “dirty” any longer. In fact, MJD hints Suh may be, well, misunderstood.
Who would you rather have on YOUR team?

Nothing left to be said. We all know the situation. Its about results, which we won’t see until Sept, but damn is it looking good.
Bowles made this change with BA. McCoy was under contract, they had full control, the message was super clear, be a badass or get the Fk out!
Actions have always spoken more than words and always will.
This is why…I can say…. In BA I Trust!

Suh>McCoyi

Suh hasn’t played a down for the Bucs means we can’t compare our team success or Suh success. But if you go off what’s been seen on tapes of both careers it’s Suh easily. GMC never adjusted until this year which again unproven
June 9th, 2019 at 4:06 am
McCoy was strong no doubt, but his play always seemed to be more about get-off, finesse & technique. Suh reminds me a lot more of the bull in the china shop … less about finesse & more about just whooping your butt with good old-fashioned smash-mouth football. Personally I like the latter, especially for guys playing in the center of the DLine (and in the middle of the OLine). I’ll take the beasts in the trenches every time.

Iāll take a 15 yard personal foul unnecessary roughness on the first play of the game vs Beta Boy McCoyās 3 offsides penalties in the 4th quarter ANY DAY. A loser knows he is a loser and just does what a loser is supposed to do and he finds a way to not win. An alpha, a winner just leads by example and dominates betas and inspires others around him to be better. Everybody knows Suh is the most feared defensive player in the league. DW will quickly become the most feared LB in the league feeding off Suh. Gholston looks enormous and I think heās going to play nasty this year now too. And Vea is a freak of nature and was dominant the last quarter of the season.
If we would have been able to get Suh in the draft we would have already been to the playoffs and wouldnāt have this drought or been through all these coaches. Suh is such an intimidating force that he will turn this franchise around in one year and make this a good job. Our organization and our fans are so hungry for a competitive and tough team that they will make Suh feel so welcomed and appreciated that he may even stay another year. Can you hear the āSUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHH!!ā chanting by the fans every time he makes a splash play? Hell we used to do it for Barrett Rudd. We will be one of the most entertaining teams in the league for the foreseeable future.

I still can’t believe we finally got Suh here…I know we got him on the backside of his career but he looks to have plenty left in the tank…
Our defense needed a facelift and an attitude change; between Coach Bowles bringing in his (proven) aggressive scheme and Suh being added to the mix I think we accomplished those 2 things…
As Defense stated, there’s nothing finesse about Suhs game; if McCoy is Batman, then Suh is an Incredible Hulk/Wolverine hybrid…I can’t wait the see Suh a Vita toss offensive linemen around like a couple of bouncers in a night club…
June 9th, 2019 at 7:58 am
Let’s not carried away. The Suh-McCoy numbers are almost indistinguishable. That leaves the intangibles: Unlike McCoy, can Suh make those around him want to play better? Unlike McCoy, can Suh become a leader in the locker room?
After listening and watching yesterday’s mic-up video, it sure appears that way.
Stay tuned …

@OneBuc55 … “canāt wait the see Suh a Vita toss offensive linemen around like a couple of bouncers in a night club”. Great visual 55. I’m not counting on JPP coming back this year (but I do hope that we keep him for next year presuming he heals up OK). But there are 3 other DLinemen (besides Suh & Vea) who sound very promising this year: Allen, Gholston & Beckner. Sounds like the first 2 have gotten more solid this year & are taking positively to TB’s defense; and Beckner just seemed like a solid draft pick.
Even without JPP, our OLBs (Nassib & Nelson especially) are BIG & I tend to think they’ll get the job done. A rejuvenated Noah Spence would add a nice 3rd-dimension to our OLBs, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see us add another later on in the summer.
Our ILB starting corps (LVD, White & Bucannon) has probably as much speed & talent as any in the NFL; they just need to stay healthy. Their backups are more experienced than in years past (presumably Bond, Minter & Cichy) but I’d still expect a dropoff in performance if our presumed starters go down.
I’ll predict that DLine & LB group will be markedly better than last year’s group (only about half of them were even here last year). i think we’ll see a LOT more pressure on the QBs, a vastly improved rushing defense, and better short passing defense. If our young Secondary can hold their own, this Bucs defense has the POTENTIAL to make a dramatic turnaround. Still LOTS of work to put in, but thankfully we’ve got 3 months until the season starts. Fans have to be excited about what BA & his coaching staff are building here.
June 9th, 2019 at 8:05 am
Oops, forgot to add Shaquill Barrett to that OLB corps. Makes it even nicer.
June 9th, 2019 at 8:10 am
In this case,Iāll take āSueā over āSettleā. Case closed.
June 9th, 2019 at 8:34 am
To many times I’ve seen running plays inside the five where McCoy get’s knocked back into the endzone by one blocker for a TD. Just glad he’s gone, Suh is the icing on the cake.
June 9th, 2019 at 8:46 am
Suh or McCoy. That’s tough. Do you want a guy who is commended as a community leader despite only just recently starting his own foundation? Or do you want a guy who makes a difference on the DL and impacts the players around him?

Screw the Debbie downers. I agree @Hodad… Suh is a Boss move. Damn fine way to show us fans that they’re serious about changing the culture. No more loser mentality.

I totally agree with your assessment Defense…
Personally I don’t think the cupboard is as empty as many people seem to think…even without JPP, we already know what we’re getting to an extent, with Lavonte, Devin, Suh, and Vita…But some of the guys you named like Nassib, Nelson, Beckner, Allen, Barrett, Spence, etc gives Todd alot if “toys to play with”…
Also can’t forget Gholston either, Imo I think he can really excell in this scheme; apparently he’ll be playing at a more natural weight for him at about 290…There are just so many different personnel groupings we could see on any given play with Bowles…Picture us coming out in our base 3-4 Defense with Suh and Vita as our DE’s and Allen at Nose; that’s about 1000 lbs. of beef between 3 guys…
The thing that really excites me about this defense though in general is knowing that we’ll always be in attack mode, forcing the offenses hand; the days of reading and reacting are out the window…No longer will our DB’s be asked to give 10 yard cushions or cover WR’s for 5 or 6 seconds because of the constant pressure…
If the opposing QB holds the ball to long against this defense he’ll be turned into a crash test dummy…
June 9th, 2019 at 9:33 am
We’ll see. Right now, it’s all hype…for both players.

Shaquil Barrett is NOT a bonus. He’s a player who never met potential.
June 9th, 2019 at 9:52 am
did you see mccoy run on the field in carolina saying “i’m home” or whatever he said…
he has quite the booty…small shoulders and a huge booty…not how nfl players are usually built…
if he still played for the bucs his new nickname would have to be changed to “pirate’s booty”
let us use it in a sentence:
wow “pirates booty” has a super quick “get off”
either he’s losing muscle quick fast…or all those vegan treats are settling right into his behind

don’t get me wrong tho…mccoy is a still a big dude and can whoop a whole lotta azz

Difference between GMC and Suh.
GMC… dude didn’t mean to hit you so hard. Let me help you up.
Suh… dude next time I hit you carrying you off in a stretcher.
The difference is game time attitude. This is why McIceCream is gone and why the Panthers signed him to a 1 year contract.
June 9th, 2019 at 10:08 am
From the Dept. of āstick to what you knowā…Elf Erotica and Granny Trampoline Gymnastics…Shaq Barrett IS an absolute bonus…and to say he didnāt reach his potential as an undrafted free agent to a 5th year player who Denver would have preferred to re-sign ( salary cap concerns )…is typical BB bluster.
June 9th, 2019 at 10:09 am
they should make a jumbo-tron type emoji for when suh makes a splash play…
either a little king king body or the hulk’s body with suh’s head on it…or both…
then splash them giant size all over the jumbo-tron when he makes a big play…
and the crowd will yell “suuuuuuhhh”
June 9th, 2019 at 10:09 am
do it glazers…get your art team on it asap š
June 9th, 2019 at 10:10 am
I believe MJD is on to something to something about adjusting as his career progressed. In recent years teams figured out McCoy was usually going to try and beat his man with his getoff. So they would use his momentum to push him out of the play more than in previous years. The ability to use both speed and power
to rush passer when rushing the passer is harder to gameplan against. Suh is
seems more versatile and durable at this stage of their careers.
Also believe that is what’s lacking in Noah Spence’s game. If he gets healthy
and to add strengthto
June 9th, 2019 at 10:15 am
jpp will sit out the season if the team record stinks…but around week 12 or 13 if we are in the hunt with a record of say, 7-5…jpp will be back…he will be an extra ignitor and get us to say, 10-6…
and 4-5 weeks of real time games will have him playoff ready…
hopefully

Just lately watched the GMC press conference introducing himself to the Panther community. Good riddance is my reply. Suh at least brings some excitement. Chop Suey!
June 9th, 2019 at 10:32 am
I would rather Suh get a roughing the passer or persinal injury penalty the first auarter of the game and set the tone than instead of GMCs offside oenalties costing us 3rd and short every quarter.
June 9th, 2019 at 10:58 am
some teams tell the boys to just play…and they will dig into their pockets for the hitting fines…now that’s what the glazers should do…have a team meeting and tell them to play like the raiders of the 70s or the steelers of the 80s…cover the fines and tell these “yung”ballers to hit with grit

June 9th, 2019 at 11:17 am
Adam from NY…
To some extent we will be “playing like it’s the 70’s”…Bruce Arians is an old-school kind of coach, his philosophy of playing “smart, fast, and physical” or “no riskit, no biscuit” says it all…
Let’s just BA doesn’t strike me as the kind of coach that’ll get to bent out of shape for a personal foul that sends a message to the opposing team…in other words, we won’t be helping QB’s up and apologizing for it after we knock the snot out of’em…

I used to think Suh was just a thug but I have been very pleasantly surprised, he is very smart and well spoken and engaged so he is mentally stable. Dude is built like a brick house (I am a woman and notice these things LOL!) Anyway hoping he stays motivated and he should be fun to watch.
