Arians: Suh Will Practice Next Week
May 31st, 2019Your newest Buccaneer, manbeast defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, has been known to miss spring practices with his previous teams.
Just this morning at One Buc Palace, Suh passed his Tampa Bay physical and met the media. (You can read Joe’s story earlier today) But when will he put on the uniform?
Joe asked Bucco Bruce Arians today if he expects Suh to be rolling when mandatory minicamp kicks off Tuesday at One Buc Palace.
Joe thought perhaps the Bucs were going to let Suh launch his Tampa Bay career at training camp. But no, Suh will be here next week. Arians was very confident when he said it.
Excellent! Joe’s glad Suh didn’t negotiate a summer start with his teammates. It’s a good sign.

Yo!…Joes & Zack…Noah Spence updates ?

I just don’t think the defense matches his skill set well. He’ll be powerful and hold down his gap responsibility, but I don’t see a ton of production from him.

you do realize this is not Fantasy football !!!…LOL…now just who do you suggest would have been a better option ?….Suh is a very very good football player and this team needs good football players…especially in the trenches….

Mitch—
Probably a good thing that TB is our DC and you’re not. Just sayin’.

Mitch I see the tackles being there. Suh put up a ton more tackles the McCoy does so it will be a noticeable difference.
Don’t also forget that Suh has had more sacks then McCoy too.
Above all Suh is a more violent player. Violet plays make an impact in a game. Don’t never let nobody never tell you no different.

Mitch- Face meet Palm. Really?
Suh just played in a similar defense last year and had over double GMC’s tackles. Not to mention he helped sky rocket Donald’s sack total for the year. He is not going to be a double digit sack guy, never was (once) and never will be. That’s like saying our Olineman wont have any production because he has no receiving yards.

Hope we haven’t spawned a “Tmitchcon”

Alaskan…..Over double McCoys tackles? Really?
I mean, tackle stats don’t mean much but when you are talking double & more you better believe some of those tackles are game changing plays!

Mitch is as about as sharp as Ira Kaufman’s jawline.

The man who raised me played in the nfl. Pulling mostly from him and someone else who played with Suh ( and they like him as a person/player too). Ofcourse I would love to see him be successful, but I have heard different.

So Gay nailing 50 yarders to end practice sessions a little early huh. Quickly making friends in that locker room.

Mitch – as Joe has noted, Suh dominated in the playoffs last year playing in a 3-4 defense, but he was NOT in the 3 technique as that maned by Aaron Donald. In this very similar defense, Suh will be the one playing in the 3 technique spot (penetrator) while Vea holds the gap.
Suh will have a great opportunity to dominate. What he doesn’t have is a quick first step to nowhere.

Mitch I would agree that Suh is a much better fit for Todd’s Defense then McCoy is. McCoy has played with a steady 4 man front his entire career.
But I will admitt I have only studied a few pieces of Bowles defenses in Arizona and NYJ. Other then that I know very little about this defense…..Forgive my ignorance but I am a mere Buc fanatic has been watching Tampa 2 every Sunday year after year for my whole life.

@74 Thank you for the response!!I understand what you’re saying and Joe’s point. I guess my conversations always surround him taking on the five tech role and that in a bear bryant style defense means gap control and reading the offense. But if he is going to play 3 tech I can see how he can be more at an advantage to make plays at the point of attack.

My God the double negatives.
Don’t ever let anybody tell you any different.
There, fixed it for you.

McCoy has never said on public t.v. that he’d win against Tom Brady and actually do it…need I say more. I liked McCoy but his passive behavior in crunchtime never worked for me. Besides a few sacks and batted passes at the los

Mitch I hardly doubt the coaches and gm would pay a guy 9.25 million if they don’t think he fits there system. I think I would believe a 2 time coach of the year of knowing what players for his and his coaches schemes. And we don’t even know what this defense will look like. This isn’t the same old bucs who just say this is the defense I have been coaching my whole life so this is what we are running regardless of personnel. These coaches are going to adjust the defense to fit the players and there scheme the best they can. And Arians already said his scheme is going to change according to the opponent. Something I have been wanting for a while. Never understood why we run the same offense defense regardless of the opponents scheme. It become to easy to prepare for. That’s why I always felt like we looked like we were out coached every weeek. Just rolling out the same looks coverages and switches. So the opponent knew exactly what we do. The Carolina game is the perfect example of this last year. How many reverses and end arounds did they do. Knowing are defense wasn’t set up to defend them. And we never changed it to stop it.

I would like to piggy back on Alt Ego’s comment……………….what is the deal with Noah Spence. If that guy can get legit even semi-fold then now we’re talking ’bout a deadly rotation. Then if one could even imagine, JPP coming in ’round Rocktober to kick butt!
