Ticket Price Increase On The Way?

Tampa Tribune scribe eye-RAH! Kaufman was warning Bucs fans today during an interview on 1040 AM.
Asked a myriad of questions about the 2010 Bucs, Kaufman advised Bucs nation to expect a heftier invoice in the mail.
“Don’t be shocked if they raise ticket prices,” Kaufman said of the Glazer clan. Kaufman also went on to say that Bucs fans should look for the announcement late on a Friday night to avoid media attention to the increase.
Joe’s all in favor of higher ticket prices, if ownership can justify it by becoming a player in free agency and becoming at least a mid-level spender in the NFL year after year. Joe’s also in favor of the Glazers issuing some partial refunds for this season’s debacle.

To get away with that, they better be planning to bring in a big-name coach. Otherwise, it will just mean fewer season ticket holders.
They are already having to give away 20,000/game to avoid blackouts.

They can’t even sell tickets at the current prices. I was a season ticket holder for 9 years and in that time my seat went from $18 to over $75 in my last year, and I had a “cheap” nose bleed seat. Good luck selling those season tickets after this awful season. This won’t go over well with the fan base.

I cannot afford to bring my entire family to a Bucs game. For nosebleeds I’d end up paying over $300. I’d be willing to pay that kind of money for one game on a Buccaneer team that was winning but not for this clusterf***.

I can’t wait until those Dumb Asses see the Mass Exodus of Season Ticket Holders this year. I think a lot of people like me hung in there with them to see what was going to happen with the new regime, but I’m done with this shit. Now after Raheem beat a lousy lousy lousy team he thinks he’s a freakin hero and should be rewarded. Buc that sh!t. I’m sure many many people will file the increase notice with the renewal notice in the round file in the corner, and tell those greedy bastards to stick it up their ASS!. Hey Joel, Buddy, Eff you and the horse you rode in one. You won’t get another dime from me. Scumbag.

You know, not much (if anything at all) was written when the Bucs came out before the season to say that they were not going to increase prices for this season (although they sure as hell didn’t lower them!), but let’s look at this mathematically (granted, I’m a dumbass, but I can add and subtract with most people).
A normal season has 2 preseason games, and 8 regular season games. So say your down in the endzone, and your tickets are $100 each per game, a normal season will cost you $1000 per seat times 10 games. This year, all of us season ticket holders in the north end zone paid $1000, BUT there were only 9 home games total, which I’m pretty sure amounts to a 10% increase in ticket prices for this year! Thanks for being so “generous” Glazers, hope you find someone else to buy my four seats next year!

I think Ira Kaufman is drunk. There is no way they can raise prices! And Joe, whats up with you? Saying you’re ok with higher prices IF they spend more? What about all the money they have pocketed from price increases the past 5 years while NOT spending? In the real world, demand (or lack thereof) for a product usually dictates the price you can charge. And if demand is minimal, i.e. empty seats, raising prices is suicidal.

Ira Kaufman is such a putz. To even suggest the Glazers would give out a refund is ludicrous. What a moron.

drdneast, Kaufman didn’t say the Glazers should give out a partial refund, Joe did. I’ve been on this site for awhile, and Joe’s been called quite a few things, moron being one of them, but he’s a pretty good dude (and I’m saying that because I would be a beneficiary of any partial refund that Joe is calling for!)

They only charged us for 9 games this season, not 10, but that isn’t the point here. The demand is low and a team that can’t keep it’s fans in the stands for more than 3 Quarters is not even worth the current ticket cost. Then take into account that almost half of the seats are empty before the start of the game, and this team has serious issues. They should focus more on selling the millions of dollars worth of tickets that they devoured this season instead of trying to jack up the prices to their loyal fans. The CITS could literally be empty next season if they pull a stunt like Eye-ra suggests.
