There’s been no soft sell from Bruce Arians to Buccaneers fans — and Arians isn’t taking a patient approach with his players, either.
That was made clearer in the insider video/audio released by the Bucs last night.
Arians’ words (the Bucs lead fans to believe it’s from Arians’ opening address to the team) are injected with urgency.
“The talent’s not the issue. Ain’t no team in the league got better talent than this,” Arians said. “I’m too old to rebuild. I’m about winning and winning now.” There’s a little more from Arians, who talks about accountability and acting with one purpose on and off the field.
The Current continues, the Bucs’ Hard Knocks knockoff produced in-house. With all the team conditioning footage shown (plenty of cheerleader work), America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, is first seen around 8 1/2-minute mark. Joe thinks that a bit odd for the face of the franchise.

I understand jumping on our team when they lose games… they should have won and not playing up to their abilities. I even understand fans being beat down because of all the losing seasons. Furthermore, I realize that the defense played its best under Mark Duffner the defensive genius… after Smith was fired. However, Todd Bowles just might improve slightly on scheme, player development, and game plan. Try really hard to see a positive…like the sun came up this morning.

Big difference between Coach BA and Koetter. Koetter and I quote “your guys are your guys “ coach Arians “ nobody has more talent than us”. Koetter was already making excuses while coach Arians is setting the bar. That’s not coach speak that’s grown man speak. Some of you guys have never played so it’s hard to understand the chemistry of buying, believing and committing to a purpose. Coach Arians is a leader while Koetter is not.

Two years ago: Koetter talks about the talent.
Last year: Father Dungy said there was “no doubt” in his mind the Bucs had the talent to make the playoffs.
Now it’s Bruce Arians. Either all of these coaches can’t judge talent or someone is stealing money from the Glazers.

D-Rome many here wouldn’t know talent if it walk up to them and smacked them in the face. Talent ain’t been the issue here. Compare the pats roster to every team anyone feels is loaded. I struggle to figure out where most of their guys come from. But superb coaching give thems the advantage every season.

Back to back 5-11 seasons and a horrible defense of historic proportions and the team had lost some of their better players and replaced them with lesser talent. As far as NFL teams go this team lacks plenty of talent. Don’t know why Bruce is trying sell this BS but it won’t be good for him when they win 4 or
5 games next year and he’s been telling everyone they have all this “talent!”

Just because jason licht drafted you in round 1 or 2 does not make you a good player. The reason the pats and belichek win so much is due to great personnel department, great coaching and the blue chip players they have. The pats have one of the top 5 RBs in the league they drafted and the bucs draft a guy at rb that cannot catch nor read a playbook. Results like that get you a last place team, the bucs and super bowl team the pats.

We still need to pick up some good players in the draft, but we do have good players to fill the rest of the roster. Take a look at our real needs and how that fits with what we have:
We need an OT and a OG and a third down power back who can also backup Barber or develop Ogunbowale to be that player just to fix our OL and make play action work.
On Defense we need a premier DE for a 3-4 or a premier DT like Oliver to make that work and a large fast CB who can jam at the line of scrimmage and play man for man such as Lonnie Johnson Jr. KY in the third round. We could play GMC at DE or the premier DL or De draft pick at LDE and Vea as nose tackle and PFF at the other end. At OLB play Barret and Nassib with Spence to back them up and David and Bucannan as ILB and Minter, Cichy, and Bullogh to back them up; starting CBs will be Davis and Hargreaves and on passing downs Hargreaves will cover the slot and the new big CB will play Hargraves spot. The backups will be Ryan Smith and Devante Harris; at Safety after Justin Evans gets tackling development he will start as the Free Safety and Whitehead as the Strong Safety with Isaha Johnson and the Greenbay Free Agent as backups. We will be fine under BA’s guidance. Just pickup some AAF players cheap for competition and we are done.

Agreed. Bucs have good talent. No team is complete neither starters or depth but having the best talent of all teams is not accurate. Bruce has experience and has assemble a good coaching staff. Probably what he means is with his level of coaching experience and this bucs talent he can win. If Licht nails this draft we can be top 10 if not bottom 10 in talent and wins. . Defense should be a focus with one pick going to o line.

No money to improve the team so I guess the next best thing is to con fans to see if ticket sells will improve…

This is why the Bruce Arians hire is exciting.
He really does think the roster was that good. This was obvisous from the moment the news broke………..Any fan that uses common sense knows a HC with Bruce’s pedigree gets to basically choose his team. He chose us more the we choose him.
He wouldn’t choose a roster he couldn’t win with. I aren’t no BS when he told us to get ready to win……….There’s a ton of work to do to prepare the players and full off-season to get it right. If these guys bust their ass we will be a solid football team that’s built to win………..Unless ruce is wrong.
I’ll call my shot now. We win our home opener and I do think give a flying f*** who they put on our schedule……….The days of this team bending over for their home fans is f***ing over!!!!!

813 – As of now we need to upgrade RT, RG, RB, DT (assuming McCoy is done), LB (two), S, CB and several marginal players at positions like C, LT, and 3rd receiver. That is 8 starters that are not good and an additional 3 more that have big question marks. That is a total of 12 starters that aren’t very good NFL players. If we are lucky we will hit on 3-4 of our picks and only 1-2 of those will probably be productive as rookies. I wish I had your positivity that this team will win 9 games. Coaching is not going to make Kendall Beckwith and Kwon better Bucs, and the scrub back ups released by other teams we are replacing them with shouldn’t add to the defene’s success. RT and RG were weak spots last year and that RT is now another year older with more mileage than last year. We lost our #1 CB from last year and now have to rely on VHIII who has been largely a bust to this point. I would love to be wrong but I don’t see us getting anywhere near 9 wins. Vegas has us at 6 wins next season and I would say that is about right for and over/under, but I would take the under here.

The only true positions where we have a complete “?” at starter is RG, SS, & nickle CB. Then big depth concern at 3-4 OLB/DE.
Per all chatter VHIII & Davis will be our outside CBs (1st & 2nd rounders).
Justin Evans likely FS.
RT = Demar Dotson + Cappa + Benecoch (who was much more serviceable at RT). That group is work-able. It’s RG that is the major hole IMO. Or in general another OG/OT that can play on the right side.
ILB = Lavonte + Buccanon or Minter or Beckwith if healthy. We don’t need two more inside LBs. Worst case we will have guys who have succeeded in the past under Bowles playing next to David.
OLB = Nassib/Barrett/Spence/? – agree we need at least one prototypical 3-4 OLB added to the rotation. Good draft for them luckily.
We have a C and LT under contract that are both young / fine…
Most rosters have a lot of similar issues with depth when you start looking at them under this type of extreme scrutiny..
