Replacement ID’d

April 9th, 2019

Ian Beckles has new DT in mind.

Yes, the Bucs have repeatedly refused to confirm Bucs stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy will return to the team this fall.

In part because of what the Bucs believe McCoy’s slipping play along with his $13 million salary, the Bucs are having a hard time justifying that chunk of change when the team is in salary cap hell.

And last week, former NFL general manager Michael Lombardi Twittered that the Bucs are shopping GMC “hard.”

One man who works on the local airwaves believes it’s sooner the better for a GMC is trade. In fact, this same radio voice believes he has the perfect replacement. Bucs guard and popular local radio personality Ian Beckles will dance on GMC’s football grave with perhaps more glee than anyone. A loud and long-time critic of GMC, Beckles took to his podcast, “In the Trenches,” to declare who the Bucs should acquire to replace him.

That would be unemployed defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

“Ndamukong Suh is a better football player than Gerald McCoy,” Beckles said. “That’s been debated through the years. You can debate that all you want. Just go look at the numbers. The numbers are better. And the results are better.

“We never got any results, not one time, from a high pick like [GMC]. No results. No wins. No banners. No accolades. No good defenses. No numbers. When it is all said and done you can anoint him all you want but I’m a number guy, OK? Number or results, it has to be one of the two.”

Well, if one truly believes the play of a defensive tackle rubs off on his teammates and makes them better, than yeah, Suh would likely be better at this stage of his career. He just played in a Super Bowl where he and his defensive teammates held the Belicheats to 13 points.

GMC has never snapped on a chin strap in a playoff game.

Is that GMC’s fault that the Bucs stink? No. The reason for that is a parade of frauds, hucksters, thieves and incompetents that have come and gone the past nine seasons masquerading as head coaches, assistants and players.

Vinny Lecavalier is talking Lighting playoffs. How fun is that! It’s another great production from Joe’s friends at The Identity Tampa Bay.

Gerald McCoy May not be a game changer who is producing on par with his salary, but on his worst day he is better than these washed up Bucs who were never that good themselves ever played on their best day. They hate on him because of the money and accolades.

  2. Go Bucs 72 Says:

We can’t have Suh on the Bucs, he doesn’t apologize to people he tackles and I’ve never seen him wearing Kimono. Rumors are Suh doesn’t like Batman either. Not a fit here.

  3. Doctor Stroud Says:

Suh is already thinking about his post-football career and is hanging out with the likes of Warren Buffett.

This from CNBC: After his brief initial chat with Buffett, a friend encouraged Suh to push for an official meeting with the business legend. “I was like, ‘There’s no way he wants to sit down with me, I’m just a young kid,'” Suh says. But Suh’s interest in business won out: “He’d be a great resource to have at that helm, and so I said, ‘Why not, what do I have to lose?'” Buffett responded, and the two ended up talking for hours. From then on, Buffett became a mentor to Suh, and the two still keep in touch. “This guy is smart, believe me,” Buffett says.

That doesn’t sound like a guy who wants to be in the trenches. Good for him, not good for the Bucs or any team who wants to sign him.

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Please check and see what T__ax thinks about Suh first.

  5. JA Says:

Suh is the corpulent version of Darrelle Revis with less comparable talent. He will go to the highest bidder. If the Bucs are trying to enlarge cap space, he is not the answer unless he’s willing to play for 5-8 million—a good chunk of change for most, but not Suh.
In any event, it all will be determined in a little over two weeks when we all see who is available at #5 or who offers the most to trade down. Don’t see them restructuring McCoy or signing his replacement until then.

  6. Buc believer Says:

@Go Bucs72…. you also forget that Suh does t crave the limelight by being the last person in the locker room on game day so everyone can see him kneeling and praying on the sideline… and there is also the fact that he doesn’t dance and prance around the sideline while his team is losing. So I agree he wouldn’t fit in.

  7. Bucs4life Says:

We can’t pay Suh. Release McCoy, draft Ed Oliver and then trade a 3th round pick in next year’s draft to the Jets for their middle LB who Boyles drafted in the 1st round two years ago, who doesn’t fit their new scheme. This saves money which allows us to pay our draft picks, have Kwon’s replacement and pick up Maurice Claiborne in free agency.

  8. Pick6 Says:

I think you could have swapped the two picks and their respective teams would have done about the same through their careers. There would be no “soft” critiques lobbed at Suh but I have unwavering faith in Bucs fans to find some way to condemn his talent and demeanor as the reason for losing. Suh might be good just because it’s a guy with a clean slate, but he’s not any closer to being the disruptor he was on draft day than McCoy in 2019

On a side note, Joe remember talking about the past coaching staff could not develop a corner and most everyone on this website agreed. Well I believe this coaching staff can develop the corners and turn the d around. not worried about the defense.

  10. AlteredEgo Says:

LOL…and something like %47 of doofuses on JBF thought he was worthy of a spot in The Ring of Honor….#9 is and has been a very solid player…a bit overpaid but that is the marketplace…there is NO reason for the Bucs to do anything with McCoy until after the draft, unless someone comes with a offer the Buc can’t refuse…and that ain’t happening because ALL the teams are waiting for the draft and the post draft releases of formerly good players…carry on !
Say Joes…it’s gristle season….how about a story on James Wilder and why he gets NO love…!!!!!!!

  11. zzbuc Says:

Well, Suh is unemployed, and with a draft loaded on good defensive player, he is not in a good position to ask for big money…..If we can bring it for the cheap, and he con someway tame his big ego, well could be considered, but there two bif if´s If´s I guess…………..

  12. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

Suh is a turd of a human being.

  13. Waterboy Says:

I’d take Suh at the right price but his play also slipped last season. He was mostly invisible next to Aaron Donald all season until they hit the post season. But at 7-8 mil a yr I’d take him.

  14. Joe Says:

    corpulent

Nice job with the vocabulary this early in the morning. 🙂

That’s true and a good point!

It’s why Joe has some hope for the corners.

  16. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

It seems to me that Ian & Ron do not do very much HW on many subjects and just spout off on the mic. Suh is not coming to this losing franchise when he was just in the super bowl, the guy is close to getting the ultimate crown and then winning in life with Warren Buffet, tampa is not on that guy’s radar.

  17. Anonymous Says:

Cut McCoy and pick up Suh? Ok

Suh is a turd of a human being.

cancer93 is a fraud of a human being… both have horrible character one just fakes it better by spouting off with the god card all the time… suh is an upgrade over cancer93 in every aspect possible…

  19. Bucsdelight Says:

hahahah Suh? Please. He didn’t do anything for the Rams, he was just a long for the ride.

  20. tmaxcon Says:

Biggest difference between suh and cancer93 is suh goes to work every day while drama queen cancer93 is in search of cameras to confirm he is a clown fool….

  21. tmaxcon Says:

    Bucsdelight

How many playoff games has Suh started????? How many has cancer93 started??????

  22. Joeypoppems Says:

If they cut GMC and sign Suh then they havent done anything. The whole point of getting rid of GMC is cap space. Suh wont come cheap so they will be back to square 1 with no clear way to create space.

Only way to replace GMC is with an early draft pick. Either 1st or 2nd round.

  23. DBS Says:

How many playoff’s or Super Bowls anyone has had means nothing. Because once they get here this team still gets nowhere. Not even close.

  27. JA Says:

    Joe–

My next novel is about an orthopedic surgeon from contemporary Tampa that time-travels to 1938 Nazi Germany. In the third chapter my protagonist finds himself engaged in a one-sided dialectic with the “corpulent” Herman Goering. Although the inveterate eating Reichsmarschall does not deserve a kinder adjective than FAT, his physical description flows better with “corpulent.” Suh’s too, I did imagine.
    Anyway, thanks!

Suh is garbage. Ask any team he has played for…
    LIONS… DOLPHINS… RAMS…
if they are glad he was ever there, or if he ever made any difference.

    No. Garbage.

We need to get younger in our DEF trenches. GMC is not apart of the new plan. He ratted on himself when he whined when it was first rumored that the team would play a 3-4. JPP is near the end of his career. I personally like Oliver and Allen the most at 5. I am starting to get more concerned about Q Williams that he has too much hype. We need solid hard work types around here that arent afraid to chop wood during preseason to make the D front nasty.

All I want for the Bucs at #5 is a DT or DE. There will be a quality lineman at 5. Pick a RB in round 2 and OG in round 3. (vice versa depending on who is there in round 2).

In reality, it cant get much worse than these fans have witnessed the past 5 seasons.

  35. tmaxcon Says:

talent wins championships pal…. suh is 10x the man cancer93 is… maybe if suh cried after plays and dropped the god card every 5 minutes you’d have a different opinion of suh… nevertheless, suh has accomplished far more than cancer93 ever will on a football field. suh has played in the post season and cancer93 has NEVER LED HIS TEAM TO A SINGLE MEANINGFUL WIN IN HIS ENTIRE CAREER….

you can’t rewrite history when you are playing the role judgemental morality police in attempts to justify your misguided statements. bucs need throat stomppers not choirboys that ship has SUNK!!!!

  36. Pickgrin Says:

Stupid take as usual by Beckles.

Draft a DT earlyish this year from a stellar class and be done with the position for at least 3-4 years. (Cheap years)

  37. JameisAlmighty! Says:

McCoy has been a great Buc on a bunch of bad teams. McCoy deserves to play with this lot of players. Jameis is about to put the Bucs to the top of the division and win a championship. Would love to see GMC around for that.
