Bucs Hunting Isaiah Crowell?

Joe wrote over the weekend that Bucs officials are yearning for a third-down back and they do not think Ronald Jones is in that mold.
That’s why the Bucs have been sniffing Duke Johnson of the Browns.
So where will the Bucs find their guy to complement Peyton Barber and be a third-down type of guy? It might be the draft, but it also could be new free agent RB Isaiah Crowell, notes NFL writer Benjamin Allbright.
Crowell is kind of in the Barber mold, maybe a bit quicker. He’s also been more productive through his career and he’s versatile. Crowell began his career with the Browns and played for the Jets last season, where he averaged 4.8 yards per carry. Through his 880-carry career, Crowell has averaged 4.3 yards per carry on some bad football teams with sketchy offenses.
Joe’s always happy to ugrade, and Crowell would represent just that when compared to departed Jacquizz Rodgers and Jones. Still, Joe thinks the Bucs could do better than Crowell.

Barber, Crowell, Ellington, Jones. Not a terrible committee. Especially if the Bucs can do something about the god awful O-line

Joe they could probably do better but at what cost. I say embrace the suck and full out tank, trading away any pieces that get a good return.

Licht is to busy failing to spot running back talent so he has no idea who’s available. Too busy looking for backup backs instead of starters. He wouldn’t dare give barber competition.

Go after freaking Duke Jones. If you cant get Duke then go after Darrell Henderson in the draft.

Crowell was a guy I was typing for, last yr….He’d be a perfect piece to add to the RB depth chart…but at what cost?
With limited funds & a FO reluctant to cut bait from bad contracts…Crowell will end-up toting the rock for the Saints – forming a 1-2 with Kamara.

He caught 40 balls one year so third down back he could be.
He was just cut for 3 mil salary which is cheap. Cut by jets so Bowles should have even more input.
He would be a bargain. Somewhere in 2-3 range.

Crowell is also an underrated pass catcher as well. He fits the mold of the value signings that the Bucs are targeting.
I like most of the moves they are making. Low risk high reward. Its boring as hell but they are signing guys who can outperform their salary. Thats the dream

Not really sure if another cow bell running back is our answer rather than the Oline and coaching. Getting a descent right guard would excite me more.

Bucafan951 doesn’t matter who is coaching. The talent isn’t there; too many teams in the league are getting better while we are slashing our roster. You set the long term goal of being better by tanking now, or you go all out and pray BA can take us to 8-8. Your choice.

Latavius Murray was signed for 4 years yesterday to be the complement to Kamara in NOLA.
Crowell would be a wise addition indeed. Real good pass catching prowess, historically good YPC, and always on the field. Good lack of injury history, hits the whole hard, understands blitz pick up, and no draft compensation to be given anywhere. We’ll see if Licht understands the logic in his pick-up.

No to Crowell , the Jacquizz experiment didn’t workout. Heck Charles sims was better at times. We need a good RB , can Shaun Wilson be the under the radar guy that Bruce will develop.

RB’s are a dime a dozen unless they’re elite. Wouldn’t waste a lot of money they don’t have.

They’re not gonna tank. Bruce would never do that But, in his second year here he could put all the pieces together and win it like he said his plan is to win it by the end of the second year. So that means this draft and next years free agency and next years draft and then we should be a complete team! We will compete this next season I guarantee that. All of BuccoBruces teams were.

I agree Bucco; maybe not tank, but concentrate on getting a team with players who can win next year, not this year. Stop patching holes with duct tape and fix some areas well, fix the rest next year.

I dont think the Bucs should draft a RB tbh. Only offense they should draft is OL on day 2 and WR on day 3. Other 5 picks should be spent on the front 7 imo.

Obviously I was speaking hyperbolically but you have been wrong quite a bit.. You were adamant that we’d pursue McCarthy and not Arians, that we’d resign Hump. That we’d resign Kwon. You said we’d sign Matt Bryant and STILL think that despite us having already resigned Santos. And now here you are claiming you know we wont pursue Crowell and that we’ll for sure draft a running back. Oh and the fact that you continue to claim Kwon was suspended for Redbull when none of the ingredients in Redbull are on the banned substance list, despite numerous others calling you out

Personally I luv that kid Miles Sanders from Penn State in the draft…
He looks so fluid in his drills at the combine. Catches passes easily as well.
The issue is he will probably go 2nd or 3rd round at latest.
We have too many OTHER holes to fill that are more of a focus…
Still like him though!

How in the Hell does Licht have any Job in the NFL is beyond me! No cap space with a team that is lacking so much talent on the defense! OLine might be the worst in the league! RB’s even with a decent line would rank at or near the bottom! Grab Crowell you dumb ass and draft a RB in round 4 or later… since you sure as hell cant pick a Great player in the early rounds!!!! If we do suck this year MAYBE the Glazers will finally realize their ineptitude in hirings is the reason RayJay is half full!! Hire a firm for the next GM position!! Silver Spooned boys who have no damn clue!!!

Sorry, I like Crowell but not for us. We need the quick, explosive back, not another bruiser. If the dude from Duke isn’t it, get him out of here, give Ogbunwale a chance- dude ran violent last year, even got some run at the end of the year. Duke Johnson is my play here. He was underrated behind a crap O-line. He has always been able to catch. I am a Seminole and he used to kill us- instead of being a hater, I want that dude on my BUCS!!

I mentioned this a few days ago…I dont think NFL FA want to play in Tampa. Bad culture, coaching unknowns…repetitive losing with no playoffs in sight equals no interest. BA is gonna have to do this with scrubs….good luck with that NFL mountain. When your fans are talking about college kids coming in to turn around a 5 win team…its not good for any NFL team.
My expectations have been lowered regardless of who they bring in at this point via FA or college. I dont buy the coaching differential between Koetter and BA will be so great that it will result in more than one win maybe 2. I dont drink Buc koolaid as I have seen this rodeo long enough.
2019 Bucs = 7 wins max. with no playoffs …12 years.

I don’t know how many times I have to say it but he will be available in the second round and kid can be even more special than Chubb & Sony which both I liked last year ! Draft a top dline man first pic or go get delvin white and shore up this damn running back issue with in my opinion , going to be the best back to come out this damn draft in Henderson in the second , then defence defence defence again in rounds 3 , 4 , 5 , & 6…bring in a bunch of undrafted free agents at guard like throwing shot against the wall one might stick !

I agree completely on Henderson being a special RB along with Jacobs! But Licht ain’t the brightest bulb in the cabinet! I’d hate to blow another top pick in the draft on a RB!! I also think Licht will not do it cause he is now gun shy on his ability to recognize true NFL talent on the RB position. Defense in a loaded defense draft. Less chance if him blowing another high pick! Arians seems to like Veteran OLine. But this draft is deep in Guards! Trade back in 1st for extra high picks but let Arians make the picks!

If you want a powerful do it all RB you can’t do better in the draft than Snell, Jr., who is great at blocking, and can spot blitzes before they happen, can run well between the Tackles and has great hands for catching outlet passes, or slipping out and catching down the field or bubble screens. The Associated Press named him the top RB in the tough SEC and he ran all over Forida’s Formidable Defense last year. Walter football and Lindy’s both rate him the third best RB in the draft, yet the NFL Channel doesn’t list him in the top ten backs, his combine results were not spectacular, and he was snubbed by the Shrine and Senior Bowls so the Bucs can take him with a third pick!

Joe who cares about YPC? We don’t have any RBs that do anything in the passing game.
Let’s look at that first and foremost.
If you get a RB that isn’t a great runner & can only catch that’s scary if Barber goes down but the solution is simple. It’s called bringing somebody out of retirement. No sexy but effective.

Crowell gets stuffed, stuffed, stuffed, then hits a big run, then is stuffed for his next 20 carries. Still, better than getting stuffed 20 times in a row without the big run.

Take White after moving down to 7th in the first round, then Boston G Lindstrom, 2d round OT Greg Little Ole Miss to pressure Smith and replace Dotson if injured or retire. 3d Round Snell, Jr., 4th Round Best DE, 5th Rd. WVa.’s Top TE who is also a FB and is 6’3” 274 lbs. and a clone of Alstot and caught all but two passes all year for over 300 yards and is a devastating blocker. 6th round Buffalo College’s QB with a great arm, and 7th round a RB from U. Of Ga. who runs back kicks, 3.4 40, and is a gunner too.
