“I Don’t Think You Ever Overestimate”

Nobody can argue that Raheem The Dream overestimated his team’s ability to play the two-gap, Jim Bates scheme that he signed off on in the preseason.
The head coach also overestimated Jim Bates’ ability to make it happen successfully, or at least with some success.
That all became obvious when he defrocked the veteran Bates.
Also, nobody can argue that Raheem The Dream greatly overestimated fired offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski, who didn’t make it to opening day. And Coach Rah also overestimated what a zone blocking scheme would do for his offensive line.
These would highlight the head coach’s multitude of overestimations for the 2010 season.
Today in his weekly Monday news conference, Raheem The Dream was asked at what point during the season did he overestimate how good could the Bucs’ could be.
The head coach replied, “I don’t think you ever overestimate.”

Yeah, I caught that too. And he also said that he didn’t want to question the players effort, then did just that a minute later! Maybe he has early signs of Alzheimers and call issues.

Along those same lines, I wonder at what point the Glazers realized they overestimated how good Morris would be as HC?

Oh, and don’t forget the “We had a bad Friday practice. A terrible Friday practice. It was horrible. I told them right after practice on Friday. I told them on Saturday morning. And yesterday after the game I talked about it with (the media). But throughout the season, that was more of an exception. Individually, people have bad practices, but collectively as a team, it’s been rare and far between that we have just a bad practice.”
And then, seconds later, comes back with “That wasn’t the first bad Friday we’ve had in my time around here”. Not sure if he’s referring to this season, or trying to defend himself by saying there have been other bad Fridays under Gruden, so it’s OK to have them occasionally. Either way, WOW! Refer to my previous statement.

Sorry to ramble…
I agree Louie. But the worst part about it is, he seems like a pretty good guy. Someone you’d enjoy having a beer with and talking football. It just seems very obvious, though, that he is completely in over his head. I think a part of him would have preferred to be the DC under Gruden for a few years so he could learn a few things before advancing to a HC position.

Hey FLBoy84, I took Raheem’s statement in regards to Friday practices to mean that it includes his time under Jon Gruden.
