“Not Anybody Backstabbing And All That”
February 20th, 2019Buccaneers legend Warren Sapp is no fan of the Dirk Koetter regime during its days running his beloved Bucs.
Sapp is well known for running his mouth but he nearly always stops short of truly blasting those associated with the Bucs. Maybe it’s because Sapp stays closely connected to the organization and typically attends many games and a few practices each year.
But Sapp let loose during Super Bowl week in Atlanta. During an interview with Fanatics View, Sapp explained to current Bucs cornerback De’Vante Harris that Arians is a spectacular coach and he better realize that in a hurry. And then Sapp took a shot at Koetter.
“We done got us now a defensive coordinator and a head coach who know what they’re doing,” Sapp said. “Not anybody backstabbing and all that. It’s all right up on the table. [Bruce Arians] going to bring the boys in the with the Kangol. We’ll be fine. Buc Nation will be fine.”
Now Joe takes Sapp’s Xs and Os takes on the Bucs with a grain of salt. Joe sat next to Sapp at a media breakfast in New Jersey several years ago when Sapp was adamant — and in Joe’s face — explaining how Lovie Smith and his system would turn Adrian Clayborn and Da’Quan Bowers into very productive players. And Joe has other examples.
However, Sapp taking a big fat stab here at Koetter and Mike Smith here is a different story, as is Sapp referencing “backstabbing.” Joe is confidence that’s coming from real knowledge of the situation versus Sapp just blowing smoke.
Harris was with the Bucs for much of the regular season after being claimed on waivers midway through training camp. Interestingly, after Sapp said the backstabbing was over, Harris said “it’s all honest now.”

Sapp is going by what Miko and Brent have said. He’s barely more than a Bucs Fanboy these days.

everyone except @realist is glad those backstabbing incompetent buddies are outta tampa!!!!!…..cant wait until bowles shuts down that outdates 4vert offense…..

Bonzai,
Last time I checked, though, his name is up on the ring at Raymond James.
I didn’t see Buccaneer Bonzai up there.
February 20th, 2019 at 11:50 am
I would think sapp is a little more knowledgeable about what goes on behind closed fires than miko. Brent and miko look at things from a self absorbed perspective.
after Sapp said the backstabbing was over, Harris said “it’s all honest now.”
What sapp said was confirmed pay attention Bonzai because it was obvious Koetter was garbage and didn’t know how to run a team or create an environment of accountability which is why you continue to defend that horrible o line play and guys like warhop and Mike Smith
February 20th, 2019 at 12:01 pm
It’s also well known that players don’t particularly enjoy it when Sapp comes around, per Pewter Report
Speaking of backstabbing, remember when the Glazers got in a bidding war over Chucky, totally undermining Koetter and his coaching staff? That’s probably worth an article

If anything, it should have lit a fire under Koetter and motivated him to get his act together. Instead, he went 5-11, and was rightfully fired.

Sapp never had any incidents with the ladies while on the bucs and was a true bad ass on the field .. I think best bucs player ever !

Nor will you see the name Warren Sapp on the staff of any team, working for ESPN or NFLN ever again.
He is a man desperate for attention these days, and never was an example of morality or loyalty.
He;s on the outside looking in. If you think differently, well, I would agree with you if you were not wrong.

I’m not.
It does not surprise me that you take the words of an amoral former player with no balance as proof of your own agenda.
The truth is this: A team doesn’t play hard for backstabbing coaches. Period.
And this team played hard the entire time Koetter was here.
At worst, Sapp is referring to Mike Smith…and again…the only accounting of any of that is through Miko and Brent.

“amoral”
“And this team played hard the entire time Koetter was here.”
You’re a clown
February 20th, 2019 at 1:26 pm
ben,
True, but he did have that “hassle” where he was slapping some hookers around and refusing the pay them, so lets not make him Walter Peyton Man of The Year.

No, YOU are on the outside looking in. (at the name in the stadium)
That was the whole point.
It didn’t have anything to do with working at ESPN or paying tips, or anything else.
For YOU to call HIM a “fanboy” is utterly ridiculous.
It is not me that is wrong, but thank you for playing.
February 20th, 2019 at 1:39 pm
Just because this franchise has had teams quit on coaches before does not mean that playing hard is an accomplishment.
Playing the game hard should never be applauded and if you do applaud it you are wrong. Your vision is merely tainted from following the worst professional sports franchise in American History.
Playing hard is not even a standard in the NFL it is a requirement.
The funny thing we didn’t even play hard. I can rattle off names all day long of players who were lazy and gave lackluster efforts……..Again, tainted vision. You only think we played hard because you compare us to other Bucs team that were some of the most pathetic and embarrassing teams to ever grace an NFL field.
Raise your standards and start comparing us to solid NFL teams. Then you will see that our team gives poor effort…..not the other way around. I suggest starting with Bruce’s former teams.

@Joe … “However, Sapp taking a big fat stab here at Koetter and Mike Smith here is a different story, as is Sapp referencing “backstabbing.” Joe is confidence that’s coming from real knowledge of the situation versus Sapp just blowing smoke.”
I don’t get it Joe. How can you be ‘confident’ that Sapp isn’t blowing smoke and that he has ‘real knowledge’ of the situation? I can’t remember a single article on JBF that spoke to Koetter or Smith being ‘backstabbers’. And yes bucboi, I too agree with Realist & Bonzai that the Bucs’ team didn’t quit last year & continued to play hard for that coaching staff. Bucs had a lot of injuries & weren’t an exceptionally talented team across the board, but they did play hard IMO. Bucs were minus-22 in the last 8 games of 2018 but went 2-6 … teams that quit on their coaches don’t typically do that well. With improved coaching & better talent in several key spots Bucs could do much better in 2019. Without some evidence, yes Sapp is blowing smoke.

@BucsFIRE
You really suck at this, you know? lol
February 20th, 2019 at 1:51 pm
There is a certain cabal in the NFL that is pushing this narrative. You don’t have to be good at algebra to figure out where this is coming from and who is feeding Sapp this info. One only needs to be paying modest attention to who is saying what and who hangs with who.
February 20th, 2019 at 1:55 pm
Buccaneers ONLY legend Warren Sapp
just is just saying what we know…. no leadership in the building leads to malcontent players and coaches with no credibility or leadership ability.

you mean the ring of UNDERACHIEVEMENT!
you must also pardon bonzi he lives in a fantasy land filled with assinine assumption and tinker bells spreading positive false messages. bonzi’s takes are meant for the Syfi channel’s delusional dreams segments not actual reflection of buccaneer players or football.
February 20th, 2019 at 2:04 pm
Bonzai,
No I actually don’t, but you have a tendency to come across in every single post as extremely self important, as though your thoughts have so much more validity than anyone else who has the gall to wander by.
It gets old.
My WHOLE POINT was that it sounds utterly RIDICULOUS for you to call one of the greatest Bucs who ever wore a uniform… a “fanboy”.
When YOU…..
are just writing on a BUCS FAN SITE.
GET IT YET?
Probably not, but then again, it’s the air of arrogance.
February 20th, 2019 at 2:10 pm
Players play hard because they know their paychecks depend on it. I don’t think Koetter had anything to do with that.
Sapp’s more than entitled to his opinion. And, he’s not far off in terms of what Arians brings to the table.
As far as the “back-stabbing”, who knows? That’s why they call them “parting shots”! Koetter couldn’t get it done here. Hopefully, Arians can.

you wanted dirk to stay another year?….WTF!!!!!….LOL….
5-11 back to back seasons is really playing hard huh….
that team wasnt playing hard…..lol….how many times were we down 3TD’s by half time?…..
they didnt play hard, they hardly played under dirk…..

who cares if these mentally weak babies get upset. their feelings are meaningless and irrelevant. they are paid to win not be have their feelings catered to or coddled… mentally weak losers all of them.

Without Sapp almost every good memory we have of this god-forsaken team never happened. And where most of the players from that time have moved on and don’t show interest in the team, fans or community, Sapp has stepped up in their place. Right now he’s the only link to greatness we have as a fan base that’s proud to represent and still involved. So @Bonzi you douche, show some respect 🙂
February 20th, 2019 at 5:47 pm
What simple minded butt clown would actually support Dirk or Smitty after the last two seasons? I guess maybe and idiot or two who bought into 5 games where the opposition played so lousy that it actually made the defense look as if they knew what game they were playing.
Glad that duo of failed head coaches who failed while being handsomely compensated in both pay and resources to build the roster with are gone.
February 20th, 2019 at 5:50 pm
If only any of the recent or current Bucs cared about being great half as much as Sapp did. These clowns don’t belong in the same stadium with him, even now.

Blast Sapp if you want, but he says it as he sees it. I respect that about him and never have the Bucs seen the likes of a DT as nasty as Sapp on the field. I’ll always listen to what he says no matter how much I may laugh. I think there’s smoke bellowing from the fire Sapp speaks of in regards to the Koetter regime.
February 21st, 2019 at 12:23 am
Probably talking about the rumor (Joe?) about Koetter having a equipment manager spy in the lockerroom.
February 21st, 2019 at 12:47 am
??????????? Haven’t heard that one.
February 21st, 2019 at 10:47 am
Love him or hate him – Sapp is entertaining to say the least.
We need some more dogs like him on this team.
I think that may be one of the best reasons to try and keep Kwon.
Now we just need that dog in the D backfield.
JPP is the new dog on DL
We need some smack talking, snot bubble hitters on this team
