Free Agent Prediction

February 1st, 2019

Would he do it?

You know the Bucs need a running back. Joe knows the Bucs need a running back. But would the Bucs be able to squeeze this guy’s salary under the cap?

Maurice Moton of Bleacher Report is trying to kill time before the start of Sunday’s Super Bowl so he decided to play darts. And he has come up with an answer for perhaps the Bucs’ biggest need and it’s not coming through the draft.

In trying to crystal ball where the top free agents will land, Moton guesses the Bucs will reel in quitting running back Le’Veon Bell.

Le’Veon Bell’s decision to sit out an entire season may come off as selfish to critics, but the 26-year-old running back will still garner interest from multiple teams because of his resume. He’s a two-time first-team All-Pro who’s recorded 1,800-plus yards from scrimmage in each of his last two terms. Now, after Bell’s year of rest, the club that lands him should have a refreshed playmaker.

In 2018, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ranked 29th in rushing. Starter Peyton Barber averaged 3.7 yards per carry, and he’s set to become a restricted free agent. The offense would probably rack up more yards with Bell as the lead running back. He offers more versatility as a pass-catcher out of the backfield, and his track record suggests he’s a top performer at the position.

The Buccaneers selected Ronald Jones in the second round of the 2018 draft. Among active rookie running backs selected in the first three rounds, he logged the fewest yards from scrimmage—that excludes Derrius Guice, who suffered a torn ACL in August. Tampa Bay doesn’t have to give up on Jones, but he can learn the position and contribute behind an established commodity. If the Bucs value Bell and the dimension he’d add to their offense, they have the ability to pay him, and they could put the ball in his hands 25-30 times per game in a major role.

So, Moton thinks Bell “may come off as selfish to critics?” How about come off as beyond selfish to proponents?

Joe was hoping like hell last year the Bucs could somehow trade for Bell. Joe wanted him, beat the drum for him. No longer. If a guy on a team with a real goal and valid aspirations of making a Super Bowl run decides to play Operation Shutdown and go jet-skiing off South Beach, Joe wants no part of the guy.

As Bear Bryant once famously said, “A player who quits on you once will quit on you again.” And both Bell and Antonio Brown laid down on their Steelers teammates.

Bad enough DeSean Jackson blew up the Bucs locker room (with his cohort Swaggy Baker). No need to poison it further with quitters.

If Licht did sign Bell, Joe can just about promise you Jackson is history with the Bucs and probably so too is stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy.

If Bell won’t get off his rear end for $14 million, imagine what it would cost to get him off his jet ski and out of Miami to work up a sweat? Probably talking Jameis money.

I’d prefer Hunt for RB. He is no risk at $600,000 per year. If he screws up cut him. Figure he doesn’t start the first 4-6 games…

  2. D-Rome Says:

If he screws up cut him. Figure he doesn’t start the first 4-6 games…

I think it’ll be more games than that. Players are treated differently if there is video.

  3. Guzzie Says:

He’d be a perfect fit, David Johnson had over 80 catches in a Arians offense, and we would be an actual threat, easily affordable once the dead weight is cut, plus Arians wants to gets wins now and so do the long suffering Bucs, guarantee Bells first 3 years, no state income tax, I personally like it, don’t give the RBS are a dime a dozen, cause the Bucs can’t find 1

  4. El_Buc941 Says:

Joe let’s be clear, Leveon Bell wanted a long term contract but the Steelers didn’t commit,I’m pretty sure if you offer him a 5 year deal at $13.5mil/yr with $50mil guaranteed he’ll sign. Plus McCoy and Jackson have been here long enough for us to see they aren’t difference makers.

  5. AlteredEgo Says:

So we change DJax for Bell…..yep

  6. gbobucsfan Says:

Not sure if this is just true but co-worker/steelers fan said Bell has never won a playoff game with the Steelers. Has been injured for all of their wins.

Guy is too injury prone and not the kind of player we want in the locker room.

  7. WalkdaPlank Says:

    KAREEM HUNT!!!

  8. BucEmUp 7 Says:

James.conner exploded when bell didnt show up. Damian williams exploded when kareem hunt was cut. Good teams prpduce good running backs. Playing from behind three scores kills a running game. If the bucs can start staying in games and not giving up 30 points in the first half, also calling plays that are not predictable then they wont need to overpay a running back . Bell is going to try and get a five year guaranteed money deal….no thanks. Draft a back in the fourth and let arains see what he can do with rojo

  9. StoutGospel Says:

Ahhhh…Bleacher Report. The wisdom exudes from every orifice.

    Kareem Hunt.

    Go Bucs!

  10. Bruce Blahak Says:

NO PLAYERS WITH ISSUES, PLEASE, PERIOD!!!

  11. macabee Says:

The Bucs tried to sign FS Landon Collins/Giants before the trade deadline. Don’t know if BA feels the same way now, but a name to keep in mind!

  12. tbbucs3 Says:

    No Bargain Players

No more wasting money in free agency

Licht has to understand that players in free agency are what they are. If your gonna spend in free agency you have to go after the big time guys.

Id rather have 1 elite player than 5 average players.

  13. tbbucs3 Says:

And BTW we have to get a running back in the offseason, the Bucs cannot wait to see what they have in Peyton Barber and especially Ronald Jones. Thats foolish.

  14. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Absolutely no way we should spend that kind of money on a RB…….no way……there are far cheaper options that may produce the same or better results……we cannot gamble on Bell.

  15. macabee Says:

The Bucs have RBs Peyton Barber, Shaun Wilson, and Ronald Jones (ROJO). I think the Bucs will try to develop ROJO with the addition of RB coach Todd McNair who has experience with SoCal RBs. BA is partial to Temple players. Keep an eye on RB Ryquell “Rock” Armstead/Temple 5-11 223 4.52 in the 7th round or UDFA.

  16. mike10 Says:

Did you say D Jax blew up the locker room? lol

Bit of an over-exaggeration much? I don’t remember reading anything on anyone in that locker room complaining about him.

  17. Hodad Says:

Bell’s a great talent no doubt, but the Steelers still ran the ball quite well without him. It starts up front, the Steelers O line makes ours look like what they are, garbage. Even Bell would have a hard time getting yards continuely being hit in the back field. Not to mention being able to even run the ball when your center has a holding penalty, and a roughing penalty on back to back plays. Fix the O line!

  18. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

Everyone keeps putting the cart before the horse

FIX THE GOD D#MN RUN BLOCKING BEFORE TALKING ABOUT GETTING A NEW RUNNING BACK!!!!!!!!!

  19. JabooBuc Says:

No thanks. When is this fan base going to learn?

  20. Sunday_44 Says:

Steelers offered him 5/yr $70 Million but only 30 million guaranteed.

Gurley signed 4/yr $60 Million 45 million guaranteed.

Bell did the right thing with his future in mind for a beaten down position in the NFL.

He will make no more than $16.5/yr but the guarantee better be north of $45 Mill

  21. El_Buc941 Says:

Also Hunt would be a great consolidation prize.hes cheaper and younger.i would throw him an offer of $5.5/yr at 4yrs with 8mil guaranteed.of course with the small print of if he screws off we don’t owe him a dime.

  22. 813bucboi Says:

    sign him!!!!….

diva issues were under a mentally weak dirk…..that wont happen now under bruce….

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  23. Bucsfanman Says:

I agree with Tampabaybucfan. There are other cheaper options with far less baggage.
It’s funny that people want Hunt. If he goes to another team, it’s unlikely that he’ll play more than 10 games. What are you going to do for the other 6? What if that other guy explodes?
Besides, who attacks a girl then goes back to kick HER while she’s down? HER! That’s a coward in my book. No thanks!

  24. Dewey Selmon Says:

If this coaching staff is so great why can they not draft the RB they want and mold him instead of paying that much money for a malcontent while attempting to get rid of another malcontent WR who wants to play for the Rams?

  25. Darin Says:

    Sunday
Bell did the right thing? I disagree and i think u wil too once his offers start coming in. He will get far fewer offers with far less money. Nobody wants a quitter. No way he recoups that 14 mil. Huge mistake.

  26. Phil Says:

God I hope not. We don’t need Bell. We need to sign Kareem Hunt NOW.

  27. Tc Says:

Hunt comes cheaper, younger and has upside and can cut him if it does not work out.

  28. RickinFtMyers Says:

It’s rare that I so wholeheartedly agree with Joe, but in this case he and I are on the same page. If the allegations against DeSean Jackson are true, and clearly in the case of asking to be traded they are, then he is unreliable, a man who makes a deal and later decides he doesn’t like it and rather than honorably sticking by the terms of his deal, he whines, mules, and pukes about the deal and perhaps diminishes his effort in response. In Le’Veon Bell, the evidence of his failure to stand by his deal is there for all to see. He bailed on his commitment and went on vacation instead. Let Jackson do on his way and stay away from Bell. No matter what their talents and potential contributions might be, men who are unreliable are poison to any team effort and should be avoided like the plague, because one never knows when they might become unhappy with their circumstances and decide to go on vacation. For the record, I’m with Joe and Bill Belichick on this one.

  29. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

No on bell because this is similar to the D revis situation the bucs are so far away from being good and definitely not one player away. If licht would have drafted correctly we would have had a kareem hunt a guice a dalvin cook, etc the bucs wouldnt be 10-22 past 2 years and looking for 13 out of 22 starters again

  30. Bobby M. Says:

Winston cant handle more alpha male personalities….and guys like Bell, who have played with a top tier QB, aren’t going to sit there and eat the bs sandwiches that Winston attempts to serve his teammates. Respect in the NFL is earned by producing at a high level…consistently….as a winner. That’s not Winston and until he achieves that, you’ll forever have these bizarre dynamics within the locker room. Bell will want the ball no different then Winston. Bell thrives off of check downs and catches in the flat….Winston still doesn’t understand how to check down. Go look at how Rodgers catches dropped off since coming to Tampa. In Atlanta as a back up RB in Koetter’s system, he had 130+ catches in 3 yrs. Same system, same role…he had 40ish catches in 3 yrs. Bell will want the ball….he’s already shown he wont be shy from making his desires known. All that adds up to a big pass.

  31. Tampabaybucfan Says:

BA believes in second chances….so I think he would certainly not oppose Hunt…….he makes sense from a money standpoint……we don’t know how many games he is suspended……even if it’s an entire year….there would be no downside to signing him as he would still have a year on his rookie contract and wouldn’t be paid.
But…….there is somewhat of a price to pay with the fan base by signing someone with his character issues and we have more immediate needs…
So, the bottom line is the suspension….how many games….the lesser it is the more competition there will be for his services.

  32. StoutGospel Says:

    @Macabee…

Thanks for the tip and link on Armstead, but didn’t see much work in the passing game for him, in that highlight reel anyway. That would be a must as we all know, especially coming off brick hands ROJO. Armstead also looks a little heavier than the David Johnson size coming out of college. Armstead’s passing game and blitz pick-up decent??

  33. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

Hey joe, write another article about why we should sign Adam Humphries because he can catch a football and run after he catches it

    LOL

JOE IS A LOW STANDARD BUCS FAN!!!!!

  34. Easy Says:

Lets sign a RG and RT to help out our own running backs. Dont want a selfish player who has miles on the engine.

  35. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

Joe keeps calling Jamies Winston a pro bowler, but Jamies only made it once to the pro bowl AS A BACKUP!!!

  38. stpetebucsfan Says:

Do we suck so badly we have to look at misfits? Hunt and Bell are signs of desperation and on a team with a history of a horrid locker room it’s gamble we shouldn’t take and as TBBF pointed out there are other far cheaper and far less dangerous to our locker room.

I’m all for players getting the most they can but at some point it’s starting to get ridiculous! Bell turned down more than 30 million GUARANTEED dollars. He does not need the money. His net worth is 12 million. He could spend 2 million on a nice house and a fine set of wheels and still have ten million to invest. @5% annually a very conservative figure …Bell would have a half million a year just for riding his jet ski. So how will you motivate him.

He clearly doesn’t care about teammates…they wrote him off as of our game with them last year. Mercenaries are dangerous…and the locker room nor our salary cap need him. A great player no doubt but not worth the hassle. The Steeler locker room is over him and felt betrayed after the Steelers decent offer.

Kareem Hunt was accused of not just the video altercation where he kicked a woman who was already down…there were two other incidents with violence involved. Another chance…yeah but three strikes and you’re out!

This is what gives me confidence JW will not screw up again and he’s never been in a violent altercation. He realizes one more off the field incident with the ladies and he’s gone…I think he truly loves football and is not going to risk it.

    https://www.cnn.com/2018/12/04/sport/kareem-hunt-previous-incidents/index.html

  39. Tbbucs3 Says:

Whatever Jason Licht does I have no confidence in…

And comparing Leveon Bell to D Jacks is ridiculous….the difference between guys like Desean Jackson and Chris Baker And Leveon Bell is that Bell is actually good. Are we trying to win football games or the Walter Peyton award? I would take a long look at Bell. Definitely something to consider but to rule that out completely is absurd.

  40. 813bucboi Says:

    LUV

    no frank clark?…

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  41. Lord Cornelius Says:

I like Mike Davis if available for sure. Dude runs angry.

If not him I like Kobe’s idea to go after Matt Breida. I’d send a 5th for him but no more considering he’s a backup RB.

I like JJ Nelson or John Brown as cheap DJax replacements but just saw LUV’s note on Brown which sucks.

LUV – that’s a lot of players that I don’t think we can afford. If we could get 1/2 of those guys I’d be happy. But in the end I think we need to draft O-line/D-line heavy so that we aren’t that reliant on them in FA.

Pewterreport’s latest mock wasn’t too bad. Trade back with Jville for another 2:

    1-Devin White ILB
    2A-Zach Allen DE
    2B-Chris Lindstrom OG
    3-Khalen Saunders DT
4-Tyree Jackson QB (would MUCH rather this go to a RB though)
    5-RB/KR – forgot his name
    6-some CB

I would be ecstatic with those first 4 picks even though White isn’t a huge need. He just sounds like the next Keuchly/Willis/etc. I’d be OK with that. Would still prefer an Ed Oliver or Justin Simmons or Jonah Williams there over a LB but whatever we do in R1 needs to be a probowler/all pro type if we’re picking high

  42. #1bucfan Says:

Fix the o-line an I bet barber rushes for 1100 or more yards I think he got 8 something with not the best blocking. Jones will get better under a new staff focus on the defense an special teams but I’m also for signing Kareem hunt for penny’s compared to what bell will cost an no one wants selfish players we need team 1st players

  43. Joe Says:

Do we suck so badly we have to look at misfits? Hunt and Bell are signs of desperation and on a team with a history of a horrid locker room it’s gamble we shouldn’t take and as TBBF pointed out there are other far cheaper and far less dangerous to our locker room.

First, yes, the Bucs are that desperate. Second, there is zero evidence Kareem Hunt is a locker room cancer. The Chiefs were the best team in football when he got the boot. Suggesting Hunt is a cancer is reckless if not grossly inaccurate.

  44. Jean Lafitte Says:

I think Bell’s asking price will be too much for us. Kareem Hunt is probably more feasible but there is the suspension part to deal with. I bet we draft a RB instead.

  45. tmaxcon Says:

As Bear Bryant once famously said, “A player who quits on you once will quit on you again.”

93 has been quitting on coaches for his entire career yet you support that career loser 100%… odd to say the least

  46. BucsFIRE Says:

    Bobby M. Says:
“Winston cant handle more alpha male personalities….”

LOL, literally the most dumb-ass comment ever uttered on this site… which is saying something. What the hell are you talking about?

  47. Joeypoppems Says:

    Pay Tevin Coleman.

Cheaper than Bell and no suspension like Hunt

  48. Bucsfanman Says:

There’s no arguing Hunt’s ability as a football player. But come on, nobody has an issue with a guy running back to kick a girl, a girl now, while she’s on the ground?!
Well, I guess as long as you can play football right?!

  49. Armybucfan Says:

I can’t believe we are even comparing hunt to bell. Then we have the idiots saying let’s groom a running back. Do you know how long it takes to successfully groom a running back? I bet you don’t! We need wins now!!!! Bell is a proven back that did not get the support he deserved for carrying the Steelers on his back since he’s been there. Look at his stats he has over 400 touches a season including his receptions. The man is looking out for his future and we blame him for that? He didn’t give up on his team his team gave up on him. Why do you think Antonio brown and their freesaftey is also wanting out. It’s the leaders of that organization are throwing their teammates under the bus. Read the article that Hines ward put out then talk to me about if you would want to stay on a team like that.

  50. BucsFIRE Says:

    Armybucfan Says:
“I can’t believe we are even comparing hunt to bell.”

AGREED. Give me Hunt any day of the week over that loser, Bell.

  51. Armybucfan Says:

Get rid of McCoy and Djax and you free up a lot of cap space for players that can make a difference. L. Bell is an instant upgrade to our pitiful run game. Godwin has already proven to have the same big play ability as Djax but has a lot more heart. Draft a DT TO REPLACE MCCOY because they couldn’t be any worse. Get rid of the other day we got from the eagles that made no difference and you have a beginnings of a decent football team.

  52. Armybucfan Says:

Who’s more of a loser one that chose not to put more mileage on his body or the one that rather beat a woman’s body? I agree there were plenty of other ways to handle bells situation differently but he chose the one that made the most sense to him. Why do we hold a woman beater in such high esteem?

  53. SOEbuc Says:

    tbbucs3

“No bargain players. Id rather have 1 elite player than 5 average players.”

Not Madden 2019. There’s a reason why you’re not a real GM. Good playoff teams are stacked with cheaper, average/above average players for depth or rotation. I don’t know what you’re opinion on Bell is, but he’s considered elite. We could fill every position in our secondary with above average, better priced vets and at least one baller for less than Bell that wants $50 million guaranteed.

And might I mention the Bucs are sh!t for depth. Especially in their starting secondary that is almost entirely still under rookie contract.

And might I mention the Bucs are sh!t for depth

  54. stpetebucsfan Says:

“Are we trying to win football games or the Walter Peyton award?”

That is a false choice. It’s not either or. Warrick Dunn was a great player on and off the field.

@Joe Ok I’ll stand corrected. Not a cancer in the sense he’s a clubhouse lawyer but at minimum a bad example to everybody else about what is permitted. The entire league is wrestling with his now. Violence is their number one priority

Again JW has made his mistakes but he’s never been violent off the field. The one thing JW did that upset me most was his lie about AZ. Oh and btw Hunt is also a liar which is one of the reasons the Chiefs cut him.

  55. Buc4evr Says:

Keep Barber, fix the O-line. Don’t spend a dime on Bell.

  56. __TGH__ Says:

Sign Kareem! He’ll come cheap (compared to Bell) with a chip on his shoulder… that’s the guy you want on your team

“But come on, nobody has an issue with a guy running back to kick a girl, a girl now, while she’s on the ground?!”

Those “girls” were reeeal skeezy lookin. No way saying he has any right to beat them up. But things don’t go well with drug addict prostitutes (assumption on what they looked like to me) all the time and famous, rich pro athletes. You people thinking A LOT of these guys don’t get into dirty sh!t like this, you’re an idiot. He just got caught on video. It’s Any Given Sunday with Al Pacino.

  59. Bucsfanman Says:

stpete- I’m a bit baffled by this. To me, what Hunt did was the very definition of cowardice. Just from a top-down perspective, what is wrong with a guy who feels compelled to not only engage in a physical confrontation with a woman, but feels the need to return and kick her?
I’m having a hard time justifying this.

but, but, but……….he can play football!

  60. Bucsfanman Says:

SOE- It goes beyond that. This time he got caught. Just think of the mindset. Skeezy or not, he could have walked away after the first push.
And, the sentiment that this is normal is a reach. There are literally thousands of players who have come and gone and still play who manage to stay out of trouble.
It’s a red flag for me.

  61. BucsFIRE Says:

Fair enough, Armybucfan, let’s sign neither and find someone else.
    Thank you for your service.

  62. Joeypoppems Says:

I doubt they go after Hunt tho. In hindsight talking about signing Hunt is the same as the Joe Mixon draft debates 2 years ago.

Does Hunt deserve a 2nd chance? Sure. Will he get a 2nd chance? Yes. I dont think it will be in Tampa tho.

  63. BucHead5588 Says:

I’d love Hunt or Bell it’s been a long time since we had a Top 5 EB I believe both of them Are IMO

  64. Joeypoppems Says:

Lets be honest. The sign Kareem Hunt debate is the same as the draft Joe Mixon debate 2 years ago.

Does Hunt deserve a 2nd chance? Sure. Will he get a 2nd chance? Yes. Im not expecting it to be in Tampa tho.

  65. Joeypoppems Says:

Im warming up to the idea of Rodney Anderson on day 3 of the draft tho. When healthy he is the best RB in this class and in same category as Nick Chubb and Sony Michel last year.

Health is the reason he will be a day 3 pick tho…

  66. The Coroner Says:

If the Bucs squander that kind of money on Bell they deserve to continue losing.
Kareem Hunt did not sexually assault anyone. He did not Ray Rice that woman. What he did was wrong. Very cap friendly. Very tight behavioral contract including counseling and 12-step group.
If the NFL required every player to have a clean police record there would be a lot fewer players.

Believe the Bucs are loaded with plenty of subpar football players who are good enough to make NFL rosters but are not good enough to start and compete with the best of the best.

Name one NFL playoff team without elite talent. But ya let’s focus on signing depth pieces 1st cause we need more Chris Contes and Vinny Curry’s.

Talent wins championships not choir boy career losers that the choir boy patrol and low standard bucfan confuse with greatness…. team needs winners not soft pansy arse career losers like cancer93 Dotson and lvd

Still shaking my head. Clicked on ‘Free Agent Prediction’ expecting to find some really good poop on how Bucs should restructure initially (during the FA period) to set themselves up for the draft. Instead got mostly pablum relating primarily to the RB position … in Joe’s piece AND in the comments. Our problems go so far beyond RB it isn’t even funny. And for anyone to propose that we spend ALL of our currently available salary CAP money on ONE PLAYER … Bell … is beyond ludicrous. You’d be manning ALL our major positional NEEDS with scrubs. Doesn’t that sound somewhat familiar to what’s already been going on?

Kudos as always to Lord C & LUVMYBUCS for at least trying to bring some order to this brawl. Bucs roster is in a real mess right now in case no one’s noticed. You don’t go 5-11 two years in a row because you’re a poorly-coached team of super-stars. Our free agency pickups better go far beyond cutting DJAX & signing a RB or we’ll be looking up at a 5-11 this year. Our OLine NEEDS at least 2 & preferably 3 starting ‘fixes’ plus we have minimal depth. We NEED 2 additional RBs & at least 1 WR (slot), not to mention a somewhat-qualified backup QB. Throw in a new kicker for good measure then look at our #31st-place defense. HALF of the starting/key rotational positions NEED new blood. Obviously we NEED to fix what we can in free agency then hope we can find 2-3 starters in the draft.

For those advocating cutting this guy & cutting that guy, remember … you’ve got to ADD someone to replace them. Get rid of GMC for example & you’ll save $13 mil BUT you now NEED another DT to replace him & his 730 defensive snaps. And just for info, Vita Vea, Beau Allen & Mitch Unrein TOGETHER only got 879 snaps (GMC by himself would’ve had close to that if he hadn’t missed 2 games).

And for the commenter who proposed getting rid of JPP to save his salary, I’m still shaking my head. JPP is an ABSOLUTE BEAST … he’s the one (and only) person on the 2018 Bucs defense who was worth every penny of his $14.9 mil salary IMO. (Wait a second, Carl Nassib making $2.0 mil was worth every penny also). Beyond those 2, Bucs overpaid BIG-TIME (same is true on offense BTW).

    St pete

Just admit you want your team to be filled with no personality, talentless players that lose quietly and never achieve a damn thing… no one is more scared of personality and talent than low standard bucfan

  82. StoutGospel Says:

Yep…let’s trade down and take a guy being deliberately not invited to the Combine by the NFL due to his video of assault and battery on a woman. Great idea. Spectacular.

We don’t need a RB just drafted one in the 2nd round!

We don’t need a RB just drafted one in the 2nd round!

You have faith in Ronald Jones? What has he done in an NFL uniform that suggests he’s the next Emmitt Smith… or even Charles Sims? Blind faith often backfires in the NFL unless someone has a significant track record of success.

  85. donuts Says:

6 games is the max suspension for the Hunt violation per the rules.

Bell is not elite…the Steeler OL is elite. He doesnt get 1500 yards without them. We have to stop all this reaching for players who are almost done and to be frank are not worth the money. Conner did pretty damn good behind the OL and that spoke to me about Bell’s value. He has not realized it yet but he has F’d his career up and lost a ton of money by getting bad agent advice. It would not surprise me if he does not make the money he sought from PIT elsewhere. Dont forget Bell was a problem player in PIT…he and AB went at it in the press on money/contract issues. If the Bucs want to win, a serious culture change is needed and having the DJAX Bell combo would be a major step backwards…

Is nobody paying attention to how NE builds their team???? When was the last all pro RB they had Roger Craig??? The NFL RB is simply not valued like in past…what does have value is your trenches….that is where the differences are in the NFL clubs….coaching and trenches…focus there and let Winston shine.

  86. Dom / Licht ? Says:

NO FAITH JOE! Just another jab at the horrible drafting of Licht! Unless BA is 100% in charge of this years draft we’re in for ANOTHER 5-11 waste of a year

  87. D1 Says:

I’ve not seen this guy’s name in the conversation but Corey Grant is a player we could pick up with bus fare and a happy meal. He doesn’t come with any official the field, read holdouts , spousal abuse , sexual assault or any nefarious baggage. If Hunt is too big and Bell too small
Grant may be the goldilocks of the group.

Side note, it would give the team two different types of backs. Two different and productive backs. Grant is an absolute threat to go yard every time he gets the ball in space. Barber just doesn’t have that kind of speed.

Barber and Grant two productive and cheap players who combined with Rojo. Offer the team extra funds to use in fa on o linemen. Hunt, Bell….reduce the cap and severely limit the teams options.

    Donuts,

Bell not elite………wth kinda drugs did you do…….yes his oline is good, it doesn’t cloud anyone’s evaluation of him as elite. Seriously where do you come up with this stuff….
Did you hear it on the radio or tv….Just saying it’s so fing ridiculous that I have to think that it’s not you who thought it. Mentioning it ….is worthy of a shot to the head with a sledge hammer .
Originating it …..is a express tix to soccer fandom. You’d have no biz watching the NFL.

  88. Alanbucsfan Says:

Bucs have drafted qb, wr, rb te in 1st round in the past.

Can we please , just 1 time, draft an OLineman in the 1st round?
I’d settle for 2nd round if they draft another DLineman in 1st round.

Every year Bucfan pines for the rb or wr or db free agent that will become an instant probowler .. same BS pipedream..

They need trench talent and linebackers

Trade: DeSean Jackson (32) for Michael Brockers (28)
    (Saved: $0)
    go along with this!

get kareem hunt and a year later the stink has washed off and we got us a running back! He screws up then cut him immediately
Makes the Bucs look good as they get to be known as the team of second chances–Arians can work with Hunt in many ways

  90. Tbbucs3 Says:

So according to Bucs fans logic if the Oline is good, the Running back can’t be elite (Bells case) but if the Oline is bad, the Running back can’t be bad (ROJO)

    Seems like great analysis.

In the real world, Leveon Bell is elite and Ronald Jones is bad. Simple as that.

    Roger Craig??

Wrong dynasty, man. — Roger Craig never played for the Patriots. He played 8 years with the 49ers and won 3 Superbowls.

  94. Nick Says:

Hunt could be suspended as little as 1-2 games of the next season FYI. With a 6 game suspension, he has already “served” 5 games and there has been talk about Goodell counting those weeks. Assuming they would count even if he wasn’t on a roster.
