Miracles Can Happen

January 21st, 2019

A team, with a little good luck, can go from worst to first in a short time. Just look at the Rams.

Two years ago the Rams were a joke. They held the longest playoff drought in the NFC (just like the Bucs do now) and uprooted and left a city to build a nest halfway across the country in the kale-eating, soyburger-loving, lipstick City of Angeles, Los Angeles.

Now, those same Rams are in the Super Bowl.

Sometimes all it takes is a change of perception. The Rams hired an offensive wizard (just like the Bucs just did) with a solid defensive coordinator (just like the Bucs just did) and nearly overnight turned around a moribund, boring franchise into one of the NFL’s best if not most exciting teams.

The Rams beating the Saints in the Superdome (like the Bucs did to begin the season) to win the NFC title and a trip to Atlanta for the Super Bowl gave Bucs fans hope. With the right coaches, a team can rise from the ashes into a squad that is feared.

It can happen, Bucs fans. Hope is alive.

This team already has the talent to make the playoffs. BA and TB will take us to the promise land

…if Jamies doesn’t turn the ball over

  2. Buc believer Says:

The sweet taste of unimaginable sadness flowing down from Sean Peyton’s face! LOVE THAT THEY GOT PUNKED!! Kiss my arse Saints!!

  3. Loyaltotheend Says:

The Rams hired a offensive wizard who is calling plays Bucs hires a coach who won’t call plays

  4. Mike Johnson Says:

Not a Saints fan Butt..they got robbed on a game changing interference play
late on the 4th. I mean it was plain as day for all football fans to see. For whtever reason that was the reason they lost. Both teams were about even.

  5. Loyaltotheend Says:

Aints got away with a lot of holds and at least 2 face mask penalties

So don’t cry about one play

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

The bad call is a great example why I think a team should be able to challenge any play for any reason…..give them the same number of challenges and if they lose, they lose a time out.
No game should turn on a blatantly bad call.

  7. Mike Johnson Says:

Just sayin. You know I’m right. This morning the NFl officially announced they screwed the call up. This is Why it pays not to get to fired up about Pro sports as one gets older. You’ve seen it all and can give credibility to the possinility..A FIX might be in on any given game. I could care less. The only team I was really pulling for was the Chiefs. To have the game stolen from them in front of a national audience like that was blatantly wrong. Luv seeing different teams make it.

  8. bucfanforever Says:

The Rams scored twice after the pass interference non-call. Winners keep playing, not cry and let the other team go to the Super Bowl.

  9. Iron Wombat Says:

That blown PI was as bad as the Mariotta forward progress/no fumble call that cost KC a playoff game the year before. Actually it was probably worse since the game is pretty much over. NFL officiating really sucks. How badass would those games have been had the NFL adopted college overtime rules?

  10. dmatt Says:

During pre draft 2015 everyone was talking about the losing cultural in Buc land since 2008 will change. Once we got Winston everyone thought we would b the current Rams. Needless to say, we put the cart before the horse, after the firing of Schiano, we should’ve never brought in conservative tunnel vision Lovie Smith. Then, after firing Lovie, we put the cart before the horse again by replacing Smith with a coach who is clueless. Koetter was outta his league n didn’t know how to handle Winston, he was awful at managing n leading his team. With the hiring of BA n his diciples, I am 100 percent confident that the Bucs will rise to the top.

  11. SteveK Says:

The Patriots are unbelievable. Just wow. It would be nice to be just 25% as successful as they are.

  12. Defense Rules Says:

@Bucs fan #7423 … “This team already has the talent to make the playoffs.” I’ll ask the same question I’ve asked before … ‘Would you be satisfied if the Bucs made ZERO personnel changes this year?’ After all, you’re saying that we’ve already got the talent.

Don’t know if you watched the games yesterday 7423, but ALL FOUR TEAMS had immeasurably better talent than the 2018 Bucs. And oh ya, ALL FOUR TEAMS were far better coached than the 2018 Bucs. Coach Arians is very experienced obviously, but the ‘challenges’ of taking over this Bucs’ team are immense. Bucs media & fans have a history of creating unrealistic expectations prior to season start, then screaming ‘lousy coaching’ when those expectations aren’t met. (Kinda like drafting a 20-year old QB with 2-years college experience and expecting him to be the ‘savior’ for a 2-14 loser?).

And before you throw out that the Bucs beat the Saints handily in Game 1 last year, might want to remember what that took. Saints’ Ingram was suspended I believe (he’s a key element in their offense BTW). Bucs gave up a whopping 40 points, but still won because Fitz had a career game (couldn’t consistently replicate that in subsequent games as we saw). Several other reasons obviously, but the point is that the Saints team that we saw yesterday was head-and-shoulders above the team that they field in Game 1. Funny thing about good teams: they improve game by game. Funny thing also about bad teams: nah, too easy (fill in the blanks).

  13. AlteredEgo Says:

After watching 4 excellent QB’s drop dimes yesterday I am back on drafting a QB @ 5….

  14. Loyaltotheend Says:

Watching yesterday made me depressed as a Bucs fan to see how far away Jameis is as a QB and the Bucs are as a team

But seeing two competitive games going to OT was fun

  15. Jonathan Lipnicki Says:

Poor Sean Payton…missed PI or not…the Saints had this game basically wrapped. Less than 2 minutes…in the redzone…Payton got cute as he oftentimes does and had an immediate incompletion which may as well been a “spike”. Three runs bleeds the clock and uses all of the Rams timeouts. I love this gag heading into 2019. Bucs trending up while the rest of the NFC South looks more and more vulnerable.

  16. Bobby M. Says:

Its a copy cat league and you can bet the Bucs will mirror the Rams….except on a budget. They need an upgrade at o-line, RB, secondary all with current players to resign. There’s simply not enough money to go around and why they say you have to draft well. I think Arians can squeeze a few more wins out of the current squad but our issue always relates to depth….We lose a player or two and an entire side of the ball collapses.

  17. Loyaltotheend Says:

@Mike Johnson the NFL hasn’t issues any statement…

  18. Todd Says:

The Rams didn’t win the game; the refs lost it.

Kansas City didn’t lose the game; Tom Brady won it.

  19. AlteredEgo Says:

On the blown call….the NFL controlled networks knew IMMEDIATELY of the HUGE irreversible blown call and in a game with a zillion cameras…shielded the Ref and situation by not showing replay of just where the Ref was standing…if you look carefully and quickly you can see where he was standing …he was looking directly up the path of the on coming ball….it has been clear in past seasons the refs have sticky flags come play off time compared to willy nilly “teaching” flags in regular season…not only was this a blown call…the NFL/Networks are covering up just how bad the blown call was…..I really feel for Brees and the Saints roster…hate all you want on Payton this affects far more than him…anyway it was great watching EXCELLENT football yesterday

  20. Loyaltotheend Says:

KC lost it cus they got shut out in the first half

Saints lost it as their d had two opportunities to stop the Rams after the missed call

Refs missed a blatant face mask against the Saints while the Rams were in the red zone

might want to fill LVD in on that piece of advice considering he has stated multiple times that he and his fellow defenders can’t overcome bad calls nor big plays….

  22. kyle Says:

F the saints…. Hahahahha.. couldnt happen to a sorrier team

  23. Not there yet Says:

Uh sorry but rams already had a stellar defense and pieces on offense they didn’t know how to use like dirk. It was a lot easier than it will be here

  24. Jean Lafitte Says:

Yes ..I guess anything can happen?

..considering our history what would be our odds?

  25. Ndog Says:

AlteredEgo you do realize that both winning QBs yesterday threw picks. According to you that makes them trash that you can’t win with remember? Now don’t be a hipacrit sir, stick to your guns they suck cause they turn the ball over, period!

  26. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

Defense Rules, spot on, the bucs are so far away from those 4 teams its crazy. There were 5 QBs (including Romo) yesterday that were surgeons. Not sure jameis will ever get to that level. Goff & Mahomes are younger and looked like nothing fazed them. The bucs are a good 2-3 years of flipping this roster in a competent and successful manner of getting to they can win the division, good thing brees should be gone by then

  27. The Buc Realist Says:

Is that what the sheep need to talk about “MIRACLES”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That new coaches come in and “Miracles” just happen???????????????

Lets talk reality!!!!! talk about Djax going to New Orleans and getting a ring the Bucs get nothing and had to cut him because they went all in on JW3, and then talk all next offseason how the Bucs need speed at the Wr to open up the offense and stretch defenses!!!!!!!!!!

    GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. go for the face30 Says:

Wait a min, wait a min – we’re getting away from accountability here and deflecting like some losers. Let me ask you this. What did the Patriots do when they got the ball in overtime? They took care of business. What did the Saints do? They came up SMALL. Plus with their fans whistling all game that made it sound like plays were being blown dead – I have ZERO sympathy for New Orleans. F them, and F their fans

  29. AlteredEgo Says:

Ndog….only you could concluded something like your post above….with your logic you’d blame the puddle on your floor from the leaky roof on the floor…

Bill, and you apparently have nothing better to do than go on Bucs sites – go back to drinking Binets like the rest of you lard ass-es up there

  33. stpetebucsfan Says:

Those were two great evenly matched games yesterday.

As always the Pats are the luckiest team in the NFL but as the saying goes winners make their own luck and Brady did have to get them in the end zone.

I can say this. KC goes all Buc ball with a BRAIN DEAD play lining up in the neutral zone. I hate…hate…hate this penalty. I would bench any DL immediately if he did this! I know that means we’d lose half our DL LMAO.

How much advantage do you gain by getting a half yard edge lining up. Really? I would trade that guy before the draft to send the message. That moronic DL literally lost that game for the Chiefs. But these were two evenly matched teams for sure.

The Saints and Rams evenly matched in the Dome…anywhere else I believe the Rams are the better team. So the QB’s pretty much matched each other…same with running games and defenses…so what was the difference. What or who won that game.

Obviously THE KICKER. I know that gauls many of you hardcore fans but it is what it is. I remember Alex Karras bemoaning the arrival of soccer kickers and the distance they could reach. I get his point…and that of you fans who hate kickers..he said he and the guys would play their behinds off for 59 minutes only to have some little foreign guy come in and win the game with a single kick. If that bugs you fine…send a letter to the competition committee..maybe make FG’s worth only two points…but the bottom line is that kickers decide a LOT of games…we NEED a good kicker.

Just because Licht made a horrible decision on Aguayo does not negate the value of a good kicker. 15% of all NFL games are decided by 3 points or less. That significant! I posted the chart of score differentials in another post if you’re interested.

Again I’m not suggesting we use a high pick on a kicker. I am saying that Ram’s kicker yesterday and this season was easily worth a 2nd rounder for his achievements. The kicker placed the Rams in the SB.

  34. Jonathan Lipnicki Says:

Who is this random Three Dollar Bill Mauer and what the heck is he/she talking about?!

  35. Lord Cornelius Says:

The difference in the Rams miracle:

    Rams O-line>>>> Bucs O-line
Rams RB / run game >>>> Bucs RB / run game
    Rams D-line & front 7 >>> Bucs D-line & front 7
    Rams secondary >>> Bucs secondary
    Rams K situation >>>> Bucs K situation

Go get the equivalent of Andrew Whitworth / Rob Havestien / Todd Gurley / Aaron Donald / Marcus Peters / Aqib Talib

And then we can talk apples to apples on the Bucs equivalent miracle. We can match them at WR/TE/QB IMO. Other than that they are infinitely more stacked.

  36. Lord Cornelius Says:

Oh and Greg Zeurline to that list. Basically all we need is like 6 all pros and a top 3 kicker and we’re in the ball park of Rams talent. lol.

  37. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

Bucs had a chance to get whitworth, talib, peters, donald and suh…but the clown that runs the bucs thought he knows better

  38. AlteredEgo Says:

LordCorn….you left out the QB position in your >>> thingee

  39. Cgmaster27v Says:

Alter we arent drafting a qb, get it through your thick head. Jameis will be here regardless of your retarded posts. And as ndog said all them QBs had ints so according to you they suck.

  40. Lord Cornelius Says:

    @altered

Give Jameis the #1 O-line in the NFL and a top 5 scoring defense and then we can compare QBs.

OH I forgot you think this is a QB vs QB sport and not the ultimate team game. We saw what Goff looked like with subpar coaching his rookie year. He was the worst QB in the league. Winston even with the worst talent around him at times has never looked that bad or anywhere close to that bad.

So basically – I know how bad Goff can be when sh1t isn’t rosey at eveyr position around him with the best coach in the NFL feeding him the plays at the LOS (read up on what he did for GOff his 2nd year if you don’t know). And Goff at his worst is absolutely dreadful.

We have no idea what Winston’s game looks like with a top 5 scoring defense, top 1 run game, and top 3 overall offensive line in both pass block and run blocking, along with the most innovative play caller in the league.

I guess those things don’t matter tho lol.

  41. Cobraboy Says:

In the spirit of Truthiness and Accuracy, the Super Bowl should be renamed The New England Invitational…

  42. German Buc Says:

We will never get these non-calls from officials…

  43. WalkdaPlank Says:

“We have no idea what Winston’s game looks like with a top 5 scoring defense, top 1 run game, and top 3 overall offensive line in both pass block and run blocking, along with the most innovative play caller in the league.”

If you really require these things to be a great QB in the NFL, you’re probably not a great QB lol. Not saying he doesn’t need a good team around him, but saying he needs a top 5 everything in order for us to see him play well is ridiculous. Also at his worst he is absolutely on par with Goff’s worst.

  44. RODNEY J ALLEN Says:

Actually alteroego I read an article that said the side line judge went to grab his flag but another ref ran towards him and he suddenly changed his mind. There was another call of pi they blew in ot as well n being the non call of the first they definitely should of called the second on it may not been as blatant but after they missed the first one u would think they would of been looking to make up for it cuz we all know they do that. Unless they got money on it

  45. RODNEY J ALLEN Says:

The roughing the passer on Brady was ba too but I can see how he made the mistake of thinking he hit his head with his arm instead of his shoulder but even the ref commentator said if u dont see his arm hit his head u dont call it. The elderman muffed return was insane. He came up yelling I didnt touch it. The review on that on took awhile kinda hard to believe they had indisputable evidence but again I’m sure they had way better view than we did

  46. AlteredEgo Says:

Listen I understand all the factors in W’s & L’s poor supporting cast…poor coaching, all of extraneous circumstances…so I reduce it to when #3 has time and still makes a poor decisions or throws…take the name out of it….the Bucs QB position player is not a good passer despite all the Stats….the past 2 weekends watching both the winners and losers saw excellent QB play when throwing the football and that his something I don’t see changing even if the W&L record improves. Jameis will always have to be supported by players greater than himself….

  47. Lord Cornelius Says:

“If you really require these things to be a great QB in the NFL”

Where did I say that? People don’t read anymore nowadays.

That was entirely about comparing Goff to Winston. All I’m doing is pointing out what Goff is working with relative to Winston. I’m saying “well here’s how Goff did when he had a bad coach and bad general team”. It was horrifically bad.

And you’re wrong on them both at their worst being equivalent…

    Goff’s worst season (7 games)
    54% completion
    5 TDs
    7 INTs
    26 sacks
    5 fumbles

Jameis has never had a negative TD:INT ration in a single season or close to it. He’s never gone 7 games throwing only 5 total TDs. He’s never been down to 54% completion. His worst is all much better than that. That’s all I’m saying.

  48. AlteredEgo Says:

Rodney….it is frustrating to watch “Rules” being enforced differently in postseason than in the regular …I posted on other social medias yesterday that I was pulling for the Saints and the Chiefs but really didn’t care one way or another and that I just hoped the Refs were not involved in controversy …well we know how that turned out…NFL ref’n is kind of like the Bucs…the more they try to fix it….the more it stays the same

  49. WalkdaPlank Says:

Wasn’t there a point in time this season where Winston had like 6 or 7 turnovers in 10 quarters? It was something like that. Also let’s not forget singlehandedly losing the game against Cincinnati. He threw 4 picks to a defense that Fitz came in late and carved up. Of course the America’s Turnover Machine Mafia made about a million excuses for that game.

Now numbers wise I’m not sure if that is worse than Goff, however as a Bucs fan it was horrible to watch.

  50. Lord Cornelius Says:

    @WalkdaPlank

Even if we look at the 3 game stretch that got him benched – which includes one of the worst meltdown performances of his career :

    62.% completion
    8 YPA
    6 TD
    8 INT

So yeah the turnovers were terrible but he was still on par with Goff in terms of a TD: INT ratio. But still much better completion % / YPA. Goff had 5.3 YPA his bad rookie year. That’s super check down mentality.

  51. Lord Cornelius Says:

And for the record I had no excuses after the Cincy game. I thought he was awful.

  52. unbelievable Says:

LOL tell us how you really feel about LA, Joe.

Saints got screwed on that non-call at the end of the game. Blatant PI if not targeting as well. And I hate the Saints, wanted them to lose, etc. But they really go screwed on that critical play at the end of the game.

  53. Jimmy Says:

The Rams are only in the Super Bowl because the NFL wants to succeed in LA. Notice the Chargers also miraculously became good once they moved.

  54. Belligerentbuc Says:

Lol…I loved watching the ain’ts choke as a division rival. NO is one year away from imploding, CAR is already there. Rivera is a dead man walking.

It’s between the Bucs and Dixie Chixs and we have an upper hand. Kotter is their OC and Bowles will find a way to shut him down if Kotter won’t do it himself.

BA will get the best out Jameis by keeping the ball moving on the ground and and by giving him more high % throws vs putting it all on his shoulder. + He will put the fear of GOD in the kicker and hold him accountable.

  55. Wesley Says:

The NFL has lost credibility, you no longer make your own destiny, it is made for you.

@Bucs fan #7423 … “This team already has the talent to make the playoffs.” I’ll ask the same question I’ve asked before … ‘Would you be satisfied if the Bucs made ZERO personnel changes this year?’ After all, you’re saying that we’ve already got the talent.
