“It Almost Seems Like He’s Becoming Comfortable With Losing”

Dirk Koetter appears to be doing a wonderful job dealing with a steady flow of Buccaneers losing. For Koetter, that’s an 11-23 run since his five-game winning streak in 2016.
If you watch/listen to Koetter in his many news conferences, Koetter appears rather resigned to a steady diet of L’s with a side of sloppiness. It almost makes Joe think Koetter already was told he won’t return next season.
It’s not just Joe viewing a head coach who appears awfully calm and content to make few if any changes to his starting lineup.
“It almost seems like he’s becoming comfortable with the losing,” John Gilmore said of Koetter yesterday on the Buccaneers Radio Network.
Gilmore, the ex-Bucs tight end, collects a check from Team Glazer for his analysis. And he’s been hammering away at various players in recent weeks. It was intriguing to hear him talk about seeing a defeated head coach.
Does that rub off on players?
Joe doesn’t know. But it should all be moot in one week.

It’s similar to when he gave up mid game way back saying we can’t execute anyway. He has a lousy attitude, is a whiner, passive aggressive, impatient, and stubborn, no real leadership. Spoiled brat.
God, I feel terrible saying all of this, I don’t know all sides to the man, but this is the largest part of the perception I get. I wish the man well, perhaps he’s getting pulled in multiple directions, has been handcuffed by management? Who knows, speculation is just that. Something is not working- it’s sad and painful all at once.

Anyone notice the body language of the players down 14-3 midway through the 2nd quarter? You would of thought it was 38-0 with under a minute left in the game. Winston/Evans and McCoy were caught on camera.

A 10 loss season is guaranteed and knowing the Bucs, they will reward us fans with a win over the ATL to be bumped from 6th in the spring draft to out of the top 10 and probably behind both the ATL and Carolina as well as get stuck with the 2nd place schedule as opposed to the 4th which means Seattle and Philly as opposed to the Giants and either AZ or SF. This season finale vs the ATL kind of reminds me of a Buc game I went to way back in 1988 as a USF college student where the Ray Perkins led Bucs and Detroit faced off in a battle of 4-11 teams. Bucs were actually the better team and won 21-10. The Lions were rewarded with the third overall pick in which they selected Barry Sanders after Dallas selected Aikman and Green Bay selected Tony Mandarich. KC then selected Derrick Thomas at 4 and the ATL got Neon Deion out of FSU at 5. The Bucs then selected bust Broderick Thomas. It would be fitting if the Bucs do manage to win this game only to watch the ATL and Carolina pick ahead of them and get talent that will torment the Bucs for a decade while the Bucs probably will select a dud and this would be something Koetter would probably strive to do since he knows he is not in the 2019 plans and if they bench Winston then Ryan Griffen will probably have a field day vs the Falcon 3rd stringers who are likely to be told to tank. Its a Bucs’ life…… Anyhow, Merry XMas Joes, thanks for the great website to visit even if out Tampa team is way below average!

Why is he still employed. Just look at Cleveland’s performance after a mid season firing. Why in the world is Dirk still here. I’ll tell you why because the Glazers care more about tradition than us fans. There’s no reason Dirk should still be the coach at this point absolutely none.

I guess it’s ok to keep Jameis Winston bc he doesn’t eat many Ws.
The glazers are about to make the biggest mistake : forcing the next regime to keep Jameis Winston as their QB next year. Good luck finding any head coach especially when around the league teams love game planning against him bc he doesn’t see the field and is good for a TO or 2.

How at this point can he not be comfortable with losing. It’s what he is used to. Dirk does not have “IT” as a head coach, never really has, the only reason he still is coaching the Bucs is the Glazer kids don’t have “IT” as NFL owners.
I miss Malcom, he had “IT” but thise apples fell far from that tree.

To me any coach that says in a press conference after a sloppy Bucs loss “I don’t know what the problem is, if I knew I would fix it” Should not be coach! It’s a coach’s responsibility to know what the problem is and fix it! Look how long he held on to his buddy Mike Smith. There was “Here’s a real PROBLEM” written all over it and he waited till he was forced to fix it. Dirk is just one of those guys that may be an above average OC but not a good coach…

Yea, I am done! I’m done with Bucs football until they hire a new coach and gm. Have fun guys and Joe enjoy your Christmas and New Year. I get on this site at least twice a day, but not until training camp. I will just listen on talk radio what goes on.. Bucs are the laughing stock of the NFL and I need a break. Hopefully when I get back on we will have a new coach, gm and a better outlook on football. Until then, SEE YA!!!!

For 2nd time I think B Arians is gonna be the next coach. I think he will bring in 2 good assistants at OC and DC who will take over when Arians retire to give this team some solidarity for some years. I really hope the Bucs don’t get in this bidding war for these H Cs

I said it multiple times yesterday I smelled quit after they were down by 14 yesterday in the game day thread.
You can always see it in the players at this time of year cause the bucs always end with a losing record.
This Sunday is a “I DON’T GIVE AN F AND LORD PLEASE LET ME GET THROUGH THIS GAME WITHOUT MAJOR INJURY” attitudes from the players.
It will be the last game for Koetter as the Bucs HC.

BucsAnthem: Tampa is not the Cleveland of the South but perhaps considering the ownership perhaps the Lions, Bungles or Jets of the South as all 3 franchises are like the Bucs in a spiral to the bottom of the NFL. I guess it could be worse, the Bucs could have paid Gruden $10 million a year to go 3-13 but at least then the Bucs would be drafting in the top 2 instead of the 6 to 12 range depending on if the ATL out tanks them next Sunday….

Sundays Falcon’s-Bucs game is as good as a preseason game. Both teams have nothing to play for as teams, mayber there are some players that want to have great games for performance bonuses, records or because they are free agents and are going elsewhere.
From a coaching standpoint this game means nothing, the winner is the loser in the draft and a win is going to make either coach or GM any less secure.
Play it like a preseason game, let all your rookies that havn’t been on the field play the majority of snaps with your unproven backup Ryan Griffin.
I think we all have seen enough of Donovan Smith and Brent Grimes and Benenoch, sit them, play Jameis a quarter, let Evans get his records and then sit him, he doesn’t need to be out there. Rest Humphries, he’s a free agent and deserves the respect to not let him get a concussion as Jameis has an issue throwing to receivers in dangerous conditions.

That is a really unfair statement Joe……..We can argue if he is the right coach or not, if he has de right weapons, if he had a good team if he is a bad playcaller, whatever…….But saying he is almost comfortable loosing is quite unfair….. Why? More than Joe has made that observation. Again, it’s an assessment based on his behavior. That doesn’t mean Koetter isn’t busting his ass to win. Joe never wrote that Koetter is just going through the motions. –Joe

He’s like the criminal that gets caught and finally sleeps well. He has accepted that his job in Tampa is over, there isn’t any reason for him to stress, worry, or press to try and save his job. He is just comfortable with the inevitability of his situation.

I heard something about One of the glaziers boys not going to say where, how or who but it was about them basically treating someone as if they were a worthless peasant. The first thing I thought of when I heard it was , who the he’ll would want to.play for a guy like that? Not sure if it was.true but I’m beginning to think these owners will never have a winning product with this team even if one of them treats people like that. Dewey Selmon…. you can see what you want to see, you have no clue what a 3 second cam shot is really telling you any more than you can take 3 seconds of conversation and know what it means. Obviously, the team was NOT dejected because they scored a TD after that point.

I am sure Koetter was told to sit Fitz and put Ryan Griffin as back up QB. If Ryan Griffin starts against Atlanta, that means that Koetter is gone with the decision of starting QB has been taken from him. The suits want to know what they’ve got going into the off season. What’s amazing is Griffin has not taken 1 snap since being signed 3 years ago ! That’s just plain stupid !
