Bucs Getting Healthy

If you don’t count the Bucs piled up on injured reserve, the team is actually quite healthy by NFL standards.
For starters, the entire starting offensive line is intact.
That’s a true NFL rarity this time of year.
The Bucs released their first injury report of the week today and DeSean Jackson was back at practice today in a “limited” capacity. Apparently his tender thumb is feeling pretty good.
Gerald McCoy (shoulder) and Demar Dotson (knee) were limited, as well. And Jason Pierre-Paul (knee) appeared to get a typical day off.
No other Buccaneers were listed.
Nine Cowboys have reported injuries. The Bucs head to Dallas for a 1 o’clock game on Sunday.

DeSean Jackson has been playing NFL football for 11 seasons. He has 2, 3 at best, seasons left in him. Given his salary, and his usefulness (stretching the field), why would he want to suit up for the Bucs? He was told he would be the downfield threat; however, the only time the Bucs have used him in that role is when Fitz was the QB. So, answer this, if you were him, would you want to play for a team that is not headed to the playoffs for the foreseeable future, or would you want to go with a better team? I know what my answer would be.

Like it ir not…his ability to put stress on the defense was missed. Godwin began to wobble a bit when forced into the 2nd receiver slot. Hump struggled as well…

I really hope this guys stays. Once everyone got off their Chris Godwin high and realized the unique skills DJax brings to the field, he’s an incredible asset.
Now, bring in a playcaller that knows how to utilize him, and teach that QB how to throw a deep ball for the love of God..

I said the Bucs didn’t need DJax, he not a good fit with Jameis Winston. DJax need a QB that excel in throwing the deep ball. Placing the ball in his hands in stride. Jameis make him fight for the ball.
DJax is a lover not a fighter
Jameis Winston is a dunk and dine QB
He need a 3 down RB that can run,catch,block
Possession receivers, not burners

Dallas is yet another team with a good passing defense, that’d be three teams in a row with good passing defenses who are hot right now – and it will be interesting to see if D-Jax being back makes a difference or not. I know the simpletons just look at box scores and say someone is a bum or not, if he’s “stealing money” or not, but defenses have to respect D-Jax and his speed, and that seems to make a difference for guys down the roster, like Humphries who is pushed back to what he should be, #4 on the depth chart, where he’s a matchup nightmare (vs #3 where he’s OK and #2 he’s a nightmare for the Bucs offense).
In any case I assume they’re wanting to play D-Jax since they’re going to try to flip him this offseason and get something of value from a WR desperate team. It’s possible they could get upwards of a #3 if he closes out the season looking good, so they have incentive to get him to play.

Like him or not, I think we’re gonna miss DJax more than we realize. Is it a coincidence that our offense has sucked since Godwin moved up to #2 receiver? We’re missing the speed again, just like in 2015 and 16, which is what we all whined and complained about not having it. Looks like we won’t appreciate what we have until it’s gone…

everyone is pissed at djax…but his sitting out a couple of games has really emphasized the point of how important he is to this offense…personally i hope he stays around next year…he literally opens up everything for everyone else in the receiving game…the point has been proven the past few weeks…diva deshaun with that nasty hang nail is a fuggin boss…he should stay and jameis has to learn to get him the ball over the top…

Chris Godwin had a good game against Carolina with DJax out. The Saints and Ravens has NFL top defenses. The Saints defense has been lights out since game one against the Bucs. The Ravens defense has been lights out all season.
I don’t think the Bucs offense would have done much against the Saints and ravens with DJax in the lineup.

Honestly I think it has more to do with Brate’s slump than anything else. Last time he was in sync was the first half of NO game where he score 2 first half TDs and we went into the half up 14-3. Since the 3rd qrt of that game he’s gone 3 targets / 1 catch for 9 yards and 0 scores.

Godwin’s skill set has never ever been separation and when you wanna be a big boy and play more outside where people get film on ya ,,, well if you can’t seperate or don’t have game wheels,,,, , Well your going to struggle and when you struggle and they are pre stepping your routes you start mentally struggling and he come the drops !!! Like Godwin allot but he isn’t an every down outside rec and I’ve tried to tell all the no knowledge jock sniffers this but the scary part is I think Koetter is once again wrong on a skill set as he truly had him running d Jax route tree with about 12 or 13 targets and what 2 catches !!! ……… I mean really people let’s target d Jax 13 times against Dallas and see if he has more than 2 catches for 25 yards , I mean Seriously your going to target Godwin 13 times in d Jax position but not target D Jax !!! Koetter you are the most unaware of your talent as any Coach in the history of the NFL !!! If they are doubling d Jax that hard then Godwin should have 180 yards in the slot !!!

“Agreed Klueless is using Godwin incorrectly. The way Godwin will get a 50 yard pass plays is with a 10 yard slant and 40 yards run after catch which he has done these 2 past years
Godwin has the body and physicality to win at the los but he needs the correct pass routes
Klueless runs those damn curl and come back routes where you beat the defender but then you stop and allow the defender to jump the pass lane or get their hands and breakup the pass
The new modern pass game uses crossing and slant routes where you dont stop and catching the ball on the run with the defender behind you
* there are only a very few recievers with elite route running skills. Most need rub and legal pick plays to get separation. Next year with a competent offensive scheme they will infuse these separation techniques to Godwin, Meme Evans and OJ

DJax is just taking up a roster spot, at no fault of his own, but the fact that JW can’t connect with the speedster unless he’s standing still. We need slow moving statues with 10′ catch radius’s.

Best deep rec in nfl history and dam good in between but you gotta demand it !!!! You can try and live off D Jax name or you can control it and continue to build it !!! Koetter is trying to collect off a name not build it and d Jax ain’t a cat you want with a 19 yr old rec coach and that just isn’t rocket science . You want a vet like d Jax to lead you better have someone to at least at times lead him !!!
Nfl coaches know x s and o s but we give them way way way to much credit for being well rounded smart people , by and large they just aren’t !!!! Some are and the results show. Koetter has mis managed by a wide margin on numerous players, same w coaches, same personalities and add all that up and it’s prob 10 plus wins over a few years . Now can he coach a Nirvana Turner offense minus the prepare a running back !!! Yes he can , he’s a football coach in his football world and when that world expands he just isn’t equipped !!! He’s just a football coach !!!

I will happily admit that i was wrong in a recent post about wanting DeSean to be done as a Buc.
It is VERY clear (as many of you said) that DeSean is a huge factor in making this Offense go, whether he is catching bombs or not.
I definitely hope that Jameis has him on the field in Dallas, for the weapon that he is.

If Godwin is the slightest injured, put him on IR. Desean’s back. Let Justin Watson get reps like the rest of the rookies that should be getting on this dumpster fire team. They should just sit all our good, experienced guys and give reps to all the younger guys. What is the point of risking major injury. And you’re likely to just keep moving up the draft board.
