Bucs Shut Out At Pro Bowl

December 18th, 2018

Snubbed.

This is a pretty good idea of what the rest of the league thinks of the Bucs.

Bucs Bit-O-Honey-snacking, Ozark-watching, yams-eating coach Dirk Koetter likes to mention how the Bucs have talent on the roster. Well, it seems the NFL as a whole disagrees.

There were only three teams without a representative elected to the January Pro Bowl rosters. Tonight, the NFL released the players’ names who made the cut.

No Bucs player was selected.

The Pro Bowl players are determined by votes from fans, players and coaches. Each group’s vote counts one-third toward selecting the 86 Pro Bowl players.

If coaches and players thought so much of, say, Lavonte David or Mike Evans or Jason Pierre-Paul, they could have collected enough votes to overcome the popularity vote of fans.

Alternates will be named later, so there’s still a chance you’ll see a Bucs helmet at the game in Orlando.

    This is some true bull-spit that ME13 wasn’t a starter…You kiddin’ Me??? What a crock of total crap the Pro Bowl is…

    How the hell are you #2 in the entire NFL in receiving yards and #1 in yards per catch, and you don’t even make the NFC’s top 4 receivers.

    What a freakin joke…

    Mike, you’re pro bowl material in my book!! Don’t give a rat’s arce what voters think…

  2. DBS Says:

    Your team players are not even respected or good enough to get to the Pro Bowl Glazers.Are you embarrassed enough now or do you give a Damn about anything?

  3. tmaxcon Says:

    evans and jpp only ones with a legit shot… lvd has 3 to 4 good games a year since Schiano… only homers that are in complete denial will dispute that. ladies popularity does not equal greatness especially in a small market.
    garbage roster. garbage owners with no hope or chance at landing a coach that will make a difference. it’s a bucs life

  4. Jerry Jones Says:

    Good, the peer and public opinion of our teams ups and downs year after will hopefully invoke a real and true sense of urgency for the Glaziers; the Glaziers are on an international radar, just about ready to fire another HC and all eyes are on them. They can’t afford both teams to go thru another crazy eb and so called flow season, I just hope it’s not Tampa.

  5. WalkdaPlank Says:

    Wait, but what about America’s Turnover Machine, Pro Bowl Bucs QB Jameis Winston? Surely there must be a mistake!

  6. BrianBucs Says:

    Having not 1 single pro bowler is more of a reflection of the GM than the head coach.
    Thank You Jason Licht for building such a talented roster .
    You are what your record says you are. Period.

  7. jerseybuc Says:

    Seriously??????

    As a true fan you WANT to see our guys rewarded? I don’t at all.

    Win a few games. Make the playoffs. Sick of hearing about numbers, awards, and lack of attention. JUST WIN BABY!!!! Then complain about lack of recognition.

  8. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

    Not surprised, our team gets no respect. I would say deservedly so but there are some great players here on a poorly coached team.
    No top 100, no pro bowlers, no respect ( in my best Rodney Dangerfield voice)

  9. Jay Miss Says:

    Evan’s non selection is purely based on his reputation of being a crybaby and zero yards after catch.

  10. Wesley Says:

    Evans and JPP shoulda made it, but hey pro bowl voting is a joke anyway.

  11. Knoxville Bucs Fan Says:

    She~it Now that’s a enormous blow to this Franchise. Not one damn player voted in is a great indicator of where the Franchise is and in the eyes of the football world. Another losing season, home games where the stadium is less than half full, first player with double digit sacks on your team in over a decade and another player who puts up 1000 yard seasons year in and year out and neither one make it. Ice cream eating Mr Ed cheesing let me help you off the ground and sorry I sacked you McCoy is out of the free vacation as well. Now what you say you now Glazers!?! Give me a break and give the friggin fans of The Tampa Bay Buccaneers a break. Enough is enough. After the Cowboys stomp the $hit out of your daddy’s team Sunday how about doing everyone of us a solid and can your coach and GM. Change your boring routine up a bit and get a jump on the other 6-10 sorry ass teams that will take the key cards from their coach/Gm in a few short weeks.

  12. John Says:

    Mike Evans is the most overrated receiver in the league. If you watched last weeks game and think this guy is good then you just don’t get it. Bad hands, terrible routes, lack of ball skills. So many picks this year are on this guy’s lack of talent. But hey as long as you put up the numbers people think you’re good. I’d also like to ask if anyone caught him laughing on the sideline while he was sitting on the bench? A player wearing a coat must’ve told a hilarious joke cuz mike was laughing. It was sometime in the 4th qtr. Does anyone have a problem with mike smiling and laughing in the 4th? Just curious

  13. Bucfan1988 Says:

    Did anyone see that rookie Outside LB for the Colts didn’t make it??? Darius Leonard…Dude has 146 tackles, 7 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, 1 Int ….Nearest person to him in tackles is 22 behind….Damnnnnn….

    Pro bowl is an f’n JOKE!!
    Sick of the “popularity contest” that makes it each year when you got dudes that put up awesome numbers that get snubbed…

  14. Not there yet Says:

    Lol people stop with the overreacting fear not like every single year we will have pro bowl alternates. They will revise the list as soon as people start dropping out for games that matter so you’ll see others writing this offseason about our pro Bowl players lol. Players rely on coaches to put in position to succeed by knowing how to coach game plan and adjust. They don’t care about Koetter leaving

    If there was a probowl voting for ping pong……this team would lead the nfl in voted players 😂😂😂😂

  15. BrianBucs Says:

    Being a Bucs fan since 1976 I have seen all of the highs and lows, good times and bad, and have seen every player and coach come and go.
    That being said, this is the absolute worst and lowest I have seen this team and franchise since before Tony Dungy was hired as head coach over 20 years ago. Today’s Pro Bowl snub was just icing on the cake.
    We will soon see if the Glazers have the character and guts to make the drastic changes needed to be made to try to turn this team around. Otherwise we can all just continue to be disappointed every year as our team we support and root for finishes last and in the cellar and misses the playoffs every year while Raymond James gets more empty every home game.
    I hope that someone tells the Glazers what the meaning of insanity is, and let’s them know if they keep doing what they are doing, they will keep getting what they are getting. And so will we all.

  16. Bosch Says:

    No respect. None at all. Move over Cleveland.

  17. Ndog Says:

    See this is the kind of thing that would make any true competitor sick and do something about it. But that should have been the case after the top 100 show or after everyone picked us to suck or after each week we are picked to lose but clearly no one on these team truly gives a damn. Well that and they have the worst coaching staff in the league.

  18. Bosch Says:

    Surely there must be some way the NFL can step in and force the sale of the franchise. I mean, why would you allow the Glazers to continue to drag down the overall quality of the product?

  19. BucsBandit Says:

    How does a player known as “America’s QB” not make the Pro Bowl?

  20. tampafan-n-ga Says:

    Wow. . . Mike Evans has 1328 yards with only 74 receptions, 17.9 avg., 5 TDs, and he is not a Pro Bowler???? Totally ridiculous. Julio Jones has 1511 yards with 100 receptions and 15.1 avg with 6 TDs. How is he in and not Mike Evans?? Whole thing is rigged!!

  21. Gambelero Says:

    When was the last time we franchised a player–even considered it.

  22. DBS Says:

    That’s why you’re not there yet and never will be. Because you don’t get it and never will.

  23. Bosch Says:

    Brian we already know that the Glazers do not have the character, guts, wisdom, motivation, Desire, work ethic, compassion, grace, pride, humility, or any other attribute not called greed; to turn this team around. If this community hopes to restore Tampa to a respected NFL community’, then all must stand in solidarity against the Glazers! As in an empty stadium!

  24. LakeLand Says:

    Polk County Finest

    Derwin James starting FS

    Maurkice Pouncey starting Center
    Mike Pouncey backup Center

    Polk County 3
    Yuc 0

  25. LakeLand Says:

    No one outside of Tampa respect this IMAGINARY talent on this pathetic team.

  26. LakeLand Says:

    Mike Evans and JPP are alternates

    They will get to play while others are playing in the Super Bowl
    And others will be wanting rest after the playoff games
    ME and JPP will be well rested after week 17

    Alternates are 2nd best
    But it’s better than nothing

  27. westernbuc Says:

    Good Bucs players being shafted at the pro bowl isn’t new. Plenty of great individual seasons have been ignored by voters. Popularity contest

  28. Not there yet Says:

    No probowl that’s perfect nothing will get in the way of vacations that were planned over a month ago

  29. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    I consider the Pro Bowl a fake award anyway. People who don’t deserve to do do every year.

    Their stats should play a strong role. Two thirds stats. One third players and coaches votes.

    Fans should not count at all, because they cheat by voting over and over.

  30. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    They could always rename it would o the Popularity Bowl.

  31. admin Says:

    Surely there must be some way the NFL can step in and force the sale of the franchise.

    Sure, if the Glazers got caught breaking the law.

    Is there anything about the NFL (aside from the Bucs) that remotely appears the league is declining? TV ratings are up and revenues are skyrocketing.

    Another feather in the cap for Licht, who’s had year after year of premium draft picks and an open wallet for free agency. I’m not sure how much worse a GM could do.

  34. FortMyersDave Says:

    The NFC South got some major league snubs besides JPP or Evans…. Saints RB Kamera got hosed as did the Stanford kid in Carolina McCaffery….. Usually you see guys from relevent teams like the Saints get the nod so I do not understand the Alvin K snub. Carolina’s rb was the Panthers biggest weapon as Cam suddenly looks like Jameis so that it a strange omit as well.

  35. John B Says:

    It’s always been a popularity contest – in late 90’s to early 2k we stacked the team as we were winning

    Yeah, winning, remember that?

    Time to clean house please

    6 rookies on the squad BTW Jason- glad you wasted darn near all of our picks on projects and position changes

    Dirks crew isn’t any better – Dotson so clearly echoed the players sentiment towards the HC

    We are again the afterthought, the stepchild, the outcast, the smelly kid from down the street

    We are the Yucs

    Have a great day!

  36. Loyaltotheend Says:

    Win and you get the love don’t win and continue to be a joke. None of them deserve to go

  37. Phil Says:

    When you don’t win playing good doesn’t matter because you didn’t play good enough for your team to win. Winning matters.

  38. Erik w/ Clean Athletics Says:

    We all know the Probowl is about popularity.

    It’s the best players on the best teams of that current season.

    And, unfortunately, the Bucs suck.

    Until we are one of the better teams, we will NOT be represented at the Probowl very much.

    We do have talent, but this league is about EXECUTION. (team-wide & individually)

  39. Bosch Says:

    Admin, all branded franchises have quality standards that their franchisees must meet or face losing the franchise. There is no reason the NFL could not build a standard around a minimum winning percentage over a credible period of time. Such an arrangement would attract owners that are mor e in it for the wins than they are for the money. And I never said the was in decline. But it would be better of without the greedy Glazers.

  40. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    John Says:
    “Mike Evans is the most overrated receiver in the league.”

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Why not just get it over with and start calling him “big fat softie”, John?
    (eyes roll)
  41. Ed Says:
    Evans isn’t overrated because most NFL writers don’t have him in their top 3 or 4 receivers. He usually is in the top 10. If he was better coached to catch the ball on the move instead of making all of the stationary catches he makes thanks to a play calling scheme that runs him to a spot for him to make a catch in front of defender and then gets walloped in the back (guy will need a serious back doctor if he plays with Jameis much longer) he would be able to make some runs.
    He’s a great receiver but there are many great receivers in the NFL that have more athletic ability than Mike. Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, Tyrek Hill, now Amari Cooper all make big plays after they catch the ball. Odell Beckham, Andre Hopkins, Adam Theilan, Stephan Diggs, JuJu aren’t in the numbers category as Mike but they are all more dangerous after they catch the ball.
    That’s the only reason why he may be getting overlooked is because he hasn’t made very many game changing, momentum changing plays over his career.
    He is really steady and does deserve being mentioned as an upper end receiver. The Bucs have a great player in Mike but in his prime, while not as productive as Mike, Vincent Jackson made more game changing plays than Mike does.
  42. BurgDweller Says:
    The Pro Bowl is lame all the way from the whole voting process to the game in itself. It is just a bunch of guys barely playing, joking around with each other, playing spank arse. Such a boring game to watch.
  43. Jeff Says:
    JPP is the only pro bowler on the team. Mike Evans has too many drops to be a pro bowler. Next year! It will ALL come together, then.
  44. John Says:
    The only thing he’s top ten in is pushing off. Run back the pick of last game and tell me that’s a pro bowl player. He can’t adjust he has no ball skills.
  45. unbelievable Says:
    Wow, I agree with tma_x on everything from his first post.
    Evans and JPP do deserve it, without question. Definitely shows how little respect this team gets.
    You could argue that OJ Howard was on his way too before the injury…
  46. adam from ny Says:
    when you have zero pro bowlers, the league is quietly whispering in your ear…”clean the f’in house”
