Wednesday Bucs Injury Report

Look out, NFL. Jason Pierre-Paul is practicing on a Wednesday.
He doesn’t always do that, and perhaps it means he’s extra crazy serious about getting to the Pro Bowl roster, which will be announced next week.
Officially, Pierre-Paul was “limited” in practice with a knee injury today.
Demar Dotson also was limited with his knee, as was Carlton Davis. Gerald McCoy (shoulder) was limited, too.
Justin Evans (toe), DeSean Jackson (thumb) and Isiah “Run Into The Wall” Johnson (concussion) did not practice.
Perhaps the best take Joe has heard all year was JPP explaining after a game that blowing off his fingers in a horrific fireworks accident taught him how to push through pain. So that’s a big reason why he’s been able to play through his nearly season-long knee issue this year.

Without looking at the stats for the rest of the league I figured JPP was a shoe-in, but that’s not really the case.
I don’t even know (or care) how they do Pro-Bowl teams anymore, but I don’t think it’s the NFC/AFC is it?
If it still is broken down by NFC/AFC, JPP is 5th in sacks at DE – as they list Donald as DE and not a DT. I have watched Donald this year, I’ve seen him destroy people, but I never paid any attention to where he’s lining up, but was he moved to DE?
Anywho if he is 5th on the list in terms of sacks, that is borderline, but I’d assume his rep would mean he’d get the spot. Also out of DE’s in the top 10, he’s #3 in tackles, so that should help him as well.
BTW, for all the McCoy bashing idiots, he’s been out a couple of games and played injured, yet he’s still the #5 DT in the NFC in terms of sacks. Prorate out those numbers for the two games he missed, and not even counting the injured games, and he’s #3. But yeah, he’s terrible because the moron on local sports talk radio told you that so you just blindly repeat it like a good parrot.

Mcoy is no Donald but hes solid but I think its time to move on with him .

JPP has 11.5 sacks for a 3rd and 4th rounder.
Robert Quinn has 4.5 sacks for a 4th and 6th rounder.
Khalil Mack has 10 sacks.

That’s how I feel buc nation. No knock on Gerald, he is a good player, BUT his salary outweighs his impact in my opinion. We have shown we can lose the same with or without him. If we can get a restructured contract or a ham sandwich, we should take it.
BTW this comparison to Donald is asinine. Donald is going to go down as the most dominant DT in NFL history.

Alaskan Abdominal – Donald won’t surpass Sapp, the league passes so much more now that Donald has a chance at getting better numbers, but if Donald is playing dT currently that’s also huge position switch when talking numbers. Yeah Sapp played DE as well at the end of his career in a terrible Raiders defense, but obviously he was playing his entire prime as a DT who was being doubled on every play and would dominate games – just like Donald did at DT. No knock on Donald in the least, he is this generation’s Sapp, but I don’t think he’ll surpass Sapp regardless of the numbers in the end.
As for McCoy he’s not the dominate guy he was a couple of years ago, but he’s still one of the best DT’s in the league as there really aren’t that many great ones around currently. As for salary it’s a non-issue. The Bucs have plenty of cap space and plenty of ways to carry over cap space, if they want to keep that d-line together for next year there’s no reason to do anything – including a restructure. Sure, the Bucs could restructure him, but why go from having 100% flexibility to not having that flexibility to save a few million now that won’t ever be spent anyways as the Bucs are never close to maxing out the cap. If the Bucs do blow up the team this offseason and start a rebuild, then sure, trade him and JPP and see what you can get, but that’s what you do if it’s a rebuild. Personally I don’t want to see a rebuild and another decade of losing, since that is what is coming if they clean house and we start all over again – mainly at QB.

Just think we could have had JPP for his whole career if we drafted him. He was available and we passed. JPP is the best player on this team, hands down.

I’m no Mike Evans apologist, never have been. But that guy is hurt. You have been able to see it for the last few weeks. He’s nursing something. There was one play last week where he took a shot and staggered to his feet. Koetter sent another receiver in to replace him and Evans waived him off. Then Evans thought better of it and jogged off the field. Mike’s got his shortcomings, but he’s played like a Man this season.

NOW. what I will say (and be called a basher for it) IS GMC is not Elite
He is not a one man game changer like a Donald or a Mack
GMC is not a LEADER by any means and it appears he brings a sense of lack a dasical attitude to the lockerroom
But if you and JOE build this man up to be this ELITE DT then the fans what to see it. When they don’t they call him out
