Super Bowl = International Game
December 12th, 2018If you want NFL strongman Roger Goodell to play ball with you, there is a cost involved.
The Bucs will host a Super Bowl in 2021. But to be awarded that honor, the Bucs are required by the NFL to cough up a home game to be played internationally.
Thus, the Bucs will be playing a home game next year at a yet-to-be determined site against an opponent to be announced in the spring of 2019.
So while Bucs fans will enjoy all the festivities and pageantry that goes along with the Super Bowl a year from February, it means one less home game in 2019.

Rams, Chargers, Raiders, Jaguars, and Buccaneers.
Nope. Its actually just the teams with the most empty seats and worst fan attendance. Pretty simple.
Last years Jax team was a mirage.

So the Bucs are shipping a home game to London next season. You have to think this was expected when USF outdrew them for a home game and they spent another game giving tickets away.
Hey, I save a nice piece of change on my season tickets. Enjoy London, Bucs. Try not to get stabbed.

you are correct sir!!!!!!
win and we wont have this problem….

Can’t wait for the Glazerhouse Boys to start the rhetoric about relocation due to poor attendance and merchandise sales.
December 12th, 2018 at 1:41 pm
Maybe a dumb question, but do they take that cost off next years season ticket price? Or do you get tickets to the game in the other country?
December 12th, 2018 at 1:57 pm
F…. Goodelll he and his wife the former news anchor can kiss my A…
December 12th, 2018 at 2:10 pm
Or…………………
International game = Reduced Suspension sentence for a certain QB!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
December 12th, 2018 at 2:11 pm
So 5 of the 7 Cal/Fla teams will play overseas? If winning is what mattered why are the Rams and Chargers going overseas?
December 12th, 2018 at 3:09 pm
Actually they always put a crappy team in the international game, and we’ve been a crappy team for too many years. It was only a matter of time.
Has nothing to do with hosting the Super Bowl in 2021
December 12th, 2018 at 3:11 pm
I’m fine with that tradeoff.
December 12th, 2018 at 3:33 pm
postman
if your team dont put a$$es in the seats, they go overseas….fins and 9ers dont have a problem filling their stadium…..or they at least have better attendance than the teams going across the pond…

The m*f*ng Patriots have played internationally in the recent past, same with the Cowgirls. So have the Steelers (aka Chucky’s b**ches). This idea of yours is ridiculous, Joe. Out of those three teams, only JerryWorld does Super Bowl hosting. And Jax does it because their owner is on record that he is working a marketing angle. Kraft might have been made to bend over for Mexico City because of deflategate, but how do you explain Pittsbarf playing internationally? How does that fit any of the possible conspiracy theories you like to push?
December 12th, 2018 at 4:07 pm
You’re saying that like we wouldn’t take that trade all day?
Would Joe rather see a Super Bowl or a regular game at the Den of Depression?
December 12th, 2018 at 4:09 pm
I’m assuming, as a season ticket holder, that I only will have to pay for 9 games next year, vs. 10. Does anyone know if that is true?
December 12th, 2018 at 6:00 pm
@Bill… that is true. I got it directly from my account rep. Believe me I gave him a TON of SPIT over it as well not that it’s his fault. I am still SO pissed!
December 12th, 2018 at 6:06 pm
But it will bring in millions of dollars to the area? Ya right for hotels and restaurants we are all sheep..
December 12th, 2018 at 6:13 pm
Buc Boi……..
The Rams do not have a problem with winning or putting people in the seats. Seems to me everyone is just speculating WHY some teams are playing overseas and some aren’t. The Rams and Chiefs were supposed to play in Mexico City this year. No problem winning last year or putting people in the seats in LA or KC. Obviously it has nothing to do with winning. You guys keep trying to reinvent the wheel and I’ll read all the comments and have a laugh like I always do.
December 12th, 2018 at 6:26 pm
I’d rather have the home game but if I were on city counsel or whoever gets the Super Bowl in Tampa, I’d rather have the Super Bowl.
December 12th, 2018 at 9:31 pm
Kris Richard has done nothing to prove he can be a good head coach. Come on, people.

Has everything to do with the Super Bowl. League rules state if a team hosts a Super Bowl, it must give up one home game to play away from American soil in a five-year window.
December 12th, 2018 at 9:42 pm
Nope. Atlanta was awarded rhe super bowl in 2019 back in 2016. Hasnt played overseas since 2014.
December 12th, 2018 at 9:44 pm
Whoever here thinks the LA teams arent hurting in attendance needs to wake up. It’s all opposing fans at their games.
December 12th, 2018 at 11:20 pm
@Joel,
2014 to 2019 may be considered a 5 year window.
As for the Rams wether it’s home fans or away fans they aren’t having attendance issues. The Rams are #10 averaging 72,000 per home game. The Bucs are #30 averaging 54,000 per home game.
The Chargers are dead last at 33,000 per home game in the tiny stadium.
