Returning?
Dirk Koetter used to call former Schiano-man safety Keith Tandy a “glue guy,” and then Tandy was sent packing by the Bucs after this year’s training camp.
Being called a “glue guy” by Koetter can be a kiss of Bucs death. Just ask Luke Stocker, Clinton McDonald and Russell Shepard.
Remember former Bucs special teams ace Josh Robinson? He’s on the Saints team playing Tampa Bay on Sunday, and they even let him play a little defense there.
As for Tandy, Joe thinks he might be a Buccaneer in a matter of hours after being cut by the Falcons yesterday, and it appears he may have cleared waivers.
Bucs safety Justin Evans didn’t practice today because of his lingering toe injury. Safety run-into-walls Isaiah Johnson has a concussion and did not practice, either.
Tandy seems like a heck of a fit with the Bucs in a pinch.
And just for good karma, here’s video of Tandy intercepting Drew Brees to seal the Bucs’ home win against the Saints in 2016.

Bring him home and make it good to him. He was given the shaft while under Smith’s toolage. He might go on another 4 game rage and get the Bucs in the Playoffs. Something he deserves and all the true blue Bucs Fans!!!!

This feels like the biggest no brainer possible, which of course means it probably won’t happen. Why would you not bring back a guy extremely familiar with our system at a position of major need? Not to mention he’s healthy and in football shape.

So what’s your point? Is anyone here saying he should be on the Pro Bowl ballot? Do you know any other safeties available that know our system and have had success in it?

omg this is like karma and sheet…grab the tandy-man up!…he was a key cog in the win streak a couple years back under smitty…history does repeat itself and things have a way of aligning sometimes…this could be good…grab him off the streets before he gets in trouble…nothing good happens after 3 am…
i hate to say it, but get rid of isiah johnson…he makes his share of tackles, and misses too…but all this happens well after the play has been completed…he’s not on top of it – he’s 2 steps behind everything…i wish him well, but he is not helping us

This regime is all about washed up veterans. I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that we need him or that this coaching staff in their evaluations decided Isaiah Johnson was better than Keith Tandy. I’ve never seen any player ever run into a wall and make me few embarrassed to be a buc fan like Johnson did

A veteran defensive back who thrives on communication, is solid because he’s spent nearly his entire NFL career in your system, being plugged into an extremely young secondary who albeit improving has shown a weakness in communication breakdowns causing an overall simplification of the defense, on a team that has to win out for any hope at all… can definitely be beneficial to the Bucs in this late stretch.

Signing Tandy would be a common sense move. 1st, you aren’t going to find too many serviceable safeties on the streets this time of year. He is familiar with the team, and most of all, we need bodies.
Why not?!
AND, he’s got a built-in fanbase……the Tandyman!!!

Bucsfanman My Man…Would love to see it happen!! Falcons were pretty boring. Plus I could get back over here with you and have dialogue with true fans that are starving to win. Also I like the Bucs Helments!!! LOL! Get him and let him intercept Brees again. Think he would like playing for Duff!! Go Bucs!!!!

There is a very good reason Conte is on the roster.
He is a serviceable veteran who was our best Safety coming into the season. They signed him to a one year deal so that he could be the bridge player for Jordan Whitehead.
His injury and placement on Injured Reserve ended up putting Whitehead in sooner than expected, and Jordan struggled a little at first, but they had intended to ease him into the lineup throughout the season.
Contrary to what you might think, there was common sense behind the re-signing of Conte.
Thankfully, Whitehead is now fitting in.
And FYI, the Bucs hoped not to have to bring Conte back next year…hence the one year deal. They just covered their bases.

FYI, Hunt cleared waivers on Monday, he’s been free to sign with anybody since 4:00 that day and nobody has touched him… but why let lack of basic waiver wire/free agency knowledge deter you from becoming GM of the century?

Maybe you haven’t realized that every current starter in our back seven is either a rookie or a 2nd year player with the exception of LVD… But yea, so many washed up vets.
