Many Buccaneers fans believe the team doesn’t have enough players who literally are sickened by the incessant losing, 10 wins and 20 losses in their last 30 games.
Hard-hitting rookie safety Jordan Whitehead isn’t one of those guys. Speaking on the Salty Dogs Podcast on Buccaneers.com this week, Whitehead painted a picture of he can’t rest easily for days thinking about plays he didn’t make in games. They stay in his head when the lights go out.
“I was sick about that,” Whitehead said, referring to some missed opportunities.
For those paying attention, Whitehead is having a heck of a rookie season. It’s easy to say the fourth-round pick out of Pittsburgh is the Bucs’ best rookie. He’s got more solo tackles (43) and tackles for loss (3) than Justin Evans, who has three more starts than Whitehead.
And he brings an energy that the Bucs could use a lot more of.
Whitehead says the Bucs can “change the season around” in the final five games. If they don’t, well, Joe is confident of two things: Whitehead will be sick about it and the new Bucs head coach will welcome his 21-year-old safety with open arms.

the new HC (KRIS RICHARD) would love this team in general!!!!!!…..the lack of coaching by dirk and smitty has set this team back!!!!!!

The culture needs to change once and for all on this team. The guys that have been around for a long time need to go. McCoy, Dotson, David, Conte, Grimes, Jackson….. The guard needs to change. There is no accountability with these guys when it comes to losing.
There’s way too many guys just collecting checks.

Winning and losing are contagious and it all starts at the top. I don’t see the “fire in the belly” in enough players and especially in many of the coaches. Koetter may be a good OC but he is not a good Head Coach. Norv Turner is like that. Very good OC but after several tries at head coach he is back to OC. The Bucs need a younger, fire in the belly, modern day thinking head coach. Football has changed. Players have changed. Many of the Bucs coaches seem to be stuck in the 80’s with their thinking.

As much as I want change, a big part of me doesn’t. I like Koetter and he does learn from his mistakes, albeit slow at times. I would like nothing more than to see them win these last five games. I still think a Jason Licht is the Problem in Chief. I believe with a real GM who can recognize talent, that Koetter can win. So let’s do this and first beat up Cam. And if the Bucs can beat the the Saints again that us really saying something. I think the Saints will be Super Bowl champs this year, and then hopefully Brees will retire 😂😂😂. If the Bucs can’t do it then they have to find a Defensive Head Coach if Koetter goes, but more importantly they have to get a great GM. Derrick Brooks isn’t that guy, as much as I love him, his heart isn’t in it right now. Go Bucs!!

Give koetter and Licht one more year … bucs have invested a lot of time in this regime … get a DC and if it doesn’t work out then fire everyone and start over but please in the off-season trade McCoy and Desean … see what you can get for lavonte also … McCoy and David are the weak links on this team

There is also a 50% fan base that is good with .500 winning and the “we will get them next year” mentality, there is a sports press here that are too cozy with the bucs gm to be mean and call him out as an abysmal failure, this team would not last 3 games in Philly, NYC, or Boston….but this crap is for some reason acceptable here in Tampa by many ppl and that is why this franchise keeps losing because it is accepted….keep rolling out that BS and there hopefully will only be 15-20,000 bucs fans at ray jay then add in the 15-20,000 fans of opposing teams and that is the attendance…the bus are in the richard williamson era again…where is sam wyche & rich mckay to dig the bucs out of this hole

For all those geniuses begging to trade McCoy and Jackson because they don’t live up to their contracts… you do realize that no other team will touch them because THEY AREN’T LIVING UP TO THEIR CONTRACTS. They will simply wait until they are cut and then sign them for less. Why would ANY team give up anything for an overpriced and underproductive player? They don’t.

bucs will have NO choice. they will get the bottom of the barrel options. Any coach that has an option of ANY OTHER team will NOT accept this horrible job that is the black hole of nfl football. no one wants to work for glazers. well that’s not true, if they need their retirement accounts funded they do just see lovie smith and the family plan.

I think both Koetter and Licht are both great guys and the Glazers need to give both a five year extension even if they don’t like to draft players with a will to win. I’m just hoping next year we can get a good kicker in the first round and if lucky we can get a dB or a safety from a division three school in the 6th or 7th round. We are so close to greatness.

keep koetter fire light!!! Bring a DC, and add REAL talent on the defense and RB position and we will be fine. When I say REAL I dont say, Grimes Beau Allen Vinny Curry, lazy Baker, Hargreaves III, and so on………….AND BRING A GOOD RB FOR CHRIST SAKE!!!!!!!

I definitely know Lincoln Riley is highly thought of. — What scares me about him is that as Oklahoma Head Coach (or any other team in that conference), giving up 48 points on Defense is a good day at the office!!!!

That’s why the Big XII is the most exciting and toughest conference. You don’t know which teams are going to be good year in and year out and there could be several (OU, WV, UT, TCU, Baylor, Ok. State, K. State). SEC is all Alabama, Georgia, and LSU every year winning blowouts to every other teams than when they’re going up against each other usually. Both those high score games were against WV and Texas. Two very good teams with two very good QBs. Big XII would be a good conference to get a HC from if you’re getting one out of college.
