The gift of defensive end Carl Nassib keeps on giving, and there’s even a hidden benefit there.
General manager Jason Licht knows it and he was talking about Nassib before today’s victory, in which Nassib was impressive, including a sack and two QB hits.
“His motor is always hot,” Licht said, before he compared him to Adam Humphries, meaning Nassib is a player who sort of came out of nowhere to thrive in a Bucs uniform.
Nassib now has 5 1/2 sacks on the season and they’ve all come in the last six games. Joe is coming around on the guy the Bucs claimed on waivers after Cleveland cut in early September.
Nassib, 25, plays hungry, and the Bucs need a lot more of that. And Nassib appears to be developing steadily — and the Bucs need a lot more than that.
The “hidden” beauty of Nassib that Joe referenced earlier? Since the former Browns third-round pick was a waiver claim, the Bucs absorbed his contract. That means Nassib is on the books for less than $1 million next season. That’s tremendous value for a guy who now appears to be a legitimate NFL starting DE.

Browns let this guy go because they are a dumb team that can’t get out of its own way.
The Bucs are also a dumb team that can’t get out of its own way, continually releasing or not resigning guys who succeed on their next team.
At least this time the dumb Bucs got one back. It’s a christmas miracle

Nassib makes up for Spence if Spence doesn’t work out…….
He almost had another sack but the QB threw it away at the last minute…(I think it was intentional grounding but it wasn’t called.)

Ted Larson is starting in Miami for about 1.5 mil a year and I assure he can play better than a guard that is starting . Now that guard may develop but he shouldn’t be starting

So….we have Barber, Brate, Dotson, Humphries & Nassib……and none of them cost us a draft pick…..
Not to mention Auclair, Anger, Santos (fingers crossed) and a few others….and Ryan Griffin will likely be our backup QB next year….
Like I’ve said….it’s not where you pick….it’s who you pick……we have plenty of high busts to prove that as do other teams…..

Knock Licht about his FA signings (and failures) on the DLine all you want, but passing on Robert Quinn and Michael Bennett for JPP and Nassib was brilliant on his part. I vividly remember about 90% of the site slamming Licht for not pursuing overrated Robert Quinn or locker room cancer Michael Bennett, but Licht had a plan and it has 100% worked.

TBBF, I agree with you about Nassib. He’s done more this season than Spence has since we drafted him. Nassib isn’t a top pass rusher but he’s a guy you can win with. I just wish JPP was only 25! Lol

We need a complete defensive overhaul in FA and more importantly the draft. All defense unless we can get a couple good OL-man. McCoy has to go and Grimes will be gone. That’s a lot of money to play with to sign “second contract” guys in FA. Fix the Defense, fix the team.

Licht is probably the best GM we have ever had! I say that as an educated and long suffering Bucs fan since 1979. The problem is DK making the transition from brilliant OC to HC. I hope today’s win will mean he’s figured it out. We will know next week.

I still can’t believe “fans” here are hoping to lose to get in the Bosa sweepstakes.
He’s had a bad knee this year…he is not going to single handedly change any team’s defense. He is not Khalil Mack and so Chucky has once again outsmarted himself. Now forced to draft Bosa his team just isn’t as good as when he had Mack.
Chucky should have stuck to TV where his “expertise” wasn’t really put to the test.
We are NOT just a single player away from success…Bosa or not.

I’m confused, I admit I was not that excited about Nassib, but I will admit I am now excited for this guy in a Bucs uniform. But what I am confused about is why is he being compared to Spence, if you do, we were excited about Spence’s rookie year, Nassib has the same amount of sacks that Spence had. I just hope he continues, but I still think we add another pass rusher in the draft.

Yup Nassib is a yungry Buc–good to have. Seems to get better every week too. Dude really seems to make the most of his snaps. Really hoping to see Nassib and JPP get Cam Newton in the backfield next week.

Nassib had a great senior season at Penn St and really looked great at the Senior Bowl at the end of his college career. I personally had him as a 2nd round pick but he lasted until the beginning of round 3. I was a little shocked when he got cut and was super happy when we claimed him, even calling him a “Poor man’s JJ Watt”…. right now he’s looking good. This is the player that I saw coming out of Penn St. A guy with a tremendous frame, good playing strength, and just enough speed and agility and ability to bend to be a factor in the NFL. I hope he continues. Don’t look now but the way he’s playing he has a shot at being the 2nd Bucs player at reaching 10 sacks since 2004.

Carl Nassib broke the sack record at Penn State…3 year’s ago. Excellent move that we got him on waivers. He’s a great addition for the money. Browns were so dumb letting him go. The kid is really all over the place, I remember seeing him when he was on the Browns last year almost sack his older brother Ryan in a preseason game against the Giants
